Amelia rolled her eyes in a joking manner when Subastian pointed out that she had stated the obvious. Clearly, when she was standing flesh and blood before him, he could see she had arrived. This time, when the smile crossed her face it was not meant to disguise something else; she was laughing at herself.
"Thanks," she said, feeling the muscles in her arms relax a bit as they were relieved of the weight of the books Subastian took from her. She could see the red lines on her pale skin where the sharp edges of the binding had dug in, but she paid it no mind. Unlike other things, these would fade with time.
"I'm fine," Amelia responded to his concern, pushing her hair behind her shoulders from where it had strayed on her way down the steps, "Really. We should really get in there if we are going to have dinner and talk before you have to leave. It's not that I'm in a hurry, it's just that we have a rather strict deadline," she added as an afterthought, raising her eyebrows as if to say, And you know what deadline that is.
Amelia turned to walk into the great hall, the smell of food already wafting from the near-empty tables. The house elves usually didn't go all out for those who wishes to eat early, but there was usually something on the tables by 4:30. Tonight's dinner for the early eaters were grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup, a meal Amelia had thoroughly enjoyed since coming to Hogwarts. Her mother did not believe in food that could be eaten without utensils, so she had never had grilled cheese before coming to school here, but they had become quite good friends from the start.
Amelia turned her head as she heard Subastian's question, noticing he was several steps behind her. She slowed her walk so he could catch up before she answered.
"I went to the library," she said simply, as if this explained everything. A few silent seconds later, she realized this might not be a sufficient answer for someone who didn't know her habits, "I read through the first book, and although it contained some good foundational knowledge, I thought there might be more to be found. So I went back to the library and searched the shelves more thoroughly. The stack you're holding is every book Hogwarts owns that even mentions wolves."
