And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

HISTORY
..................Hey! My eyes aren't 'glistening with the ghosts of my past'!

Early Years: Let's go back to a spring evening in 1926 shall we? What better setting than Durmstrang Institute of Magic? The first meeting between Lev Zograf and Róslín leavingthissurnameblanksonotoconflictwithcanonsincesheisunnamed, the pair whom had been assigned to marry by their pureblooded families after their graduation just one year after officially meeting one another for the first time - a marriage which would, in 1927 undoubtedly, by the design of each child's family alike, one of the wealthiest Pureblood families in Bulgaria (at least, these were the dreams of the Zograf family - whether or not the conjoined families would truly result in such a status is unknown, as Pureblooded families oft lie about their true wealth in the name of competition. But this did not, however, in any way stop the newly wed Zograf family from assuming it was so). Lev was in his fifth year at Durmstrang when he and his arranged bride-to-be met shared their very first meeting - unbeknownst to Lev, of course; until their families happily announced their arrangements for the pair at seventeen. Things started off fairly slow between the two of them before the "decree", but quickly things picked up when the couple learned of their parents' intentions, and they would be made to be absolutely inseparable. By the time graduation rolled around their parents had become highly invested in their marriage, and had all but forced the rings upon their fingers. But without thought of rebellion in his mind for fear of what would come of such unbecoming behavior for a Pureblood heir, Lev graciously accepted Róslín's hand in marriage, and as a result solidified the bond between two wealthy, Pureblooded lines.

Twelve years had passed, and the couple was still going strong. Their love for each other only growing more quickly in their forced proximity - be it a natural occurrence, or simply an outcome of an arranged marriage at such a young age. But at twenty-nine, Róslín was beginning to grow restless, she wanted something from Lev that he wasn't exactly ready to give just yet - but that she had very little time left to achieve, and that worried her. The almost-aggressive pressures put on her to bare a son, an heir, at the very least, for their joined families was crushing. She began to fear that Lev didn't love her like he claimed, but that wasn't the case in the slightest. He wanted to prove to his wife that he was indeed in love with her like he had claimed for the past fourteen years of their marriage, and finally silence the threats of their parents'. So just days before their twelfth anniversary Lev had given her what she wanted. Of course, for the couple it wasn't hard at any point during the pregnancy. They weren't in any financial situations, in fact... They were quite wealthy by inheritance and additions to their financial well-being made by the couple in their prestigious and well-paying careers. They had no emotional turmoil, but there was the time Róslín rightful threw a fit over not having Lev by her side, and that wasn't a pretty sight at all; for Lev had been brought up by calloused parents who had taught him nothing about treating his dear wife, and having wed dear Róslín at such an immature age certainly hadn't allowed Lev any time to learn this compassion by experience. All in all though, their first pregnancy had gone rather well, and in the middle of October in 2000 their first child was born. then Alistair Zograf, heir to the family name, had been born.

Alistair wasn't their last child not by a long shot; after birthing their first heir, Mrs. and Mr. Zograf proceeded to conceive two more children in accordance to the wishes (demands) of their inheritance. In 1992 they had their first daughter, Francis Zograf, and only a few short years following the carrying of her daughter did Róslín give birth to another in the winter of 1995; a second son by the name of Xavier Zograf. But Alistair was destined to be an only child, and in the few years that separated him from his younger siblings, Alistair had deemed himself a son without siblings; he would not participate in their lives, or their raising. For Alistair had known only two short years of the attention, focus, and love of his parents, before they had taken to leaving him entirely to his own devices to fawn over their newest additions to the family. Alistair was no longer read bedtime stories; no longer did his parents sit down for family meals with him, or tell them how much they loved him; he knew only a hired servant to cook his meals, dress and bathe him. But he too was cold. And in only one brief year after the birth of the second Zograf child, Alistair found himself entirely emotionally abandoned, left to his own devices while Mr and Mrs Zograf cooed over newborn infants. He was alone at three years old. And after the early memories had gone and left him too, he was left with nothing and no one but himself. In the child's abandonment (an orphan in the same home as the parents who had "thrown him away" - a true tragedy), the heir had sworn at five years old to loathe Lev and Róslín Zograf (and the children they had chosen over him) for as long as he lived. Unbeknownst then to three-year-old Francis and infant Xavier, the Zograf children would never know the love of an elder brother. Instead, in his jealousy and his disdain towards his parents for having conceived what he had considered to be his ill-fitting, dribbling inferiors as opposed to leaving it be with him, The first son to the Zograf family made the occasional attempt at "removing" the children from their destined-to-be family of three. This continued sporadically until, fortunately for his unlucky younger siblings, Alistair's attention had been seized by something else at age Eleven. Francis and Xavior rejoiced as their mother informed them that their eldest brother would not be returning home until the Holidays; the wee monster had been shipped off to Durmstrange Institute to pursue an education.

Hogwarts Years: During his time in Durmstrang, Alistair was rather popular, and rightfully so. During his education he had made many friends - or those who he had made to believe were friendly with him, but who were, in truth, no closer to him than his parents; but rather, a device; a clever method of surrounding himself with those who adored him. When he had originally walked into the castle he had known not what to expect. He had grown up hearing about the grandeur of Durmstrang, but he wasn't prepared for how grand and aesthetically pleasing it truly was. When it had come time to be sorted Alistair had admittedly wanted to be sorted into any house other than that of his parents during their attendance at the Institute, as he cared not for either parent, and had no desire to follow in their footsteps. Alas, when the First Year Durmstrang student was called by name to be sorted, he was slotted into the very same - though this is something he incessantly claims is because of his intellectual prowess in his aptitude for manipulation, and not for the pure Zograf blood pumping through his veins.

As the years passed Alistair took an interest - or, rather more of an infatuation with - the Dark Arts and Martial Magic. His favorite, and decidedly best subject was any including mention / the history of the Dark Arts and its infamous practitioners. A few of his better subjects to be noted were Potions, Herbology - and a self-taught passion (in his free time) for the human Anatomy, Psychoanalysis, and the Culinary Arts. Ironically enough, three of those classes turned out to be the subjects his closest "admirers" (his "friends") wound grow to teach at Durmstrang several years later. Though, Alistair didn't take the same course as his peer group. He had higher aspirations. He wanted to do bigger and better things. He wanted to be someone that was known as a skilled wielder of the dark arts... Alistair wanted to be a Death Eater, and to eventually double as a powerful member of the Ministry of Magic.

After Hogwarts: Some time after graduating from Durmstrang Alistair's marriage to the Death Eater's began with a skull and snake on his forearm (a mark which Alistair found distasteful, being far fonder of the beauty of "blank" or virgin skin, but his passion for the Arts and Martial Magic and the power it all promised helped him to overcome this disdain) started his career as an auror at what he deemed to be "the bottom" of the "foodchain", from where he intended to gather useful information on cases pursuing his fellow Death Eater until he had seized a position of power. It took three years of diligent training to get there, but eventually he made it, and was damn good at what he did. His knowledge of the dark arts made him incredible at his job, and he was very content with continuing with this career until he achieved his goal. He would have done so too if it wasn't for one night where everything seemed to go wrong.

Alistair had taken multiple severing curses to various parts of his body, cast by his college, an auror who Alistair had attacked on a whim while alone with him in the field (knowing they would never learn who had attacked the other man), and was on the verge of death within minutes. Most notably, his wounds to his chest and the side of his neck were the more severe injuries, but decidedly the most gruesome were his severed achilles tendon, and the deep gash in his right bicep. However, after hours of extensive healing Joachim lived, but wouldn't be able to return to his position until his full recovery. His colleague was not so fortunate, and had died before the responders had ever arrived to find Alistair (who had told them the heroic, yet horrific story of how the criminal the pair had been pursuing had murdered Alistair's fellow auror and left him too for dead, mutilated - and how Alistair had courageously risked his life in his attempt to save the other Ministry worker). No one was the wiser. That evening, Alistair made a choice, and deciding that the tedious position was beginning to take its physical toll with little reward in regards to a position of power (higher than that of an auror) and officially stepped down as an auror after many years of loyal servitude and valuable information to the Death Eaters. But his "heroic" actions in the duel that had temporarily maimed him had made him something of a well respected "ally" to the Ministry of Magic. Immediately after his resignation and In an instant, Alistair knew what he wished to pursue; a different kind of position of power; one which would satiate his intellectual curiosity in a way that working for the Ministry had not (mind-numbingly had not, as a matter of fact). Alistair would be a healer of sorts: a Psychologist at the esteemed St. Mungo's. Over the years between ages twenty three and thirty, he would legally change his surname out of spite towards his parents, and would obtain the qualifications necessary to become esteemed Dr Alistair Riannon of Psychology.

It has been many, many years since this fateful decision, and Alistair has achieved a very well-respected reputation in his years of experience in the field; the field of both the Dark Arts as a Death Eater, and as a Psychologist. He was finally beginning to gain the positions that he felt he deserved so very much.
