HAYES, Keiran

on Thu Feb 18, 2016 12:52 am

• Keiran = The name of many saints in Irish History
• Conall = Strong Wolf
• Finley  = Warrior
• Hayes = Fire

NICKNAMES/ALIAS:  Kegs, by Theodore Rookwood (and probably Baldric)
Kevin by Jack Dyllan

AGE: 28
b. May 14, 2000.

ALLEGIANCE: Leans towards the Order, but hasn’t ever joined up. Probably never will.
Irish National Quidditch Team
Slytherin House/Quidditch Team
The Ministry of Magic
The Lupins, Rookwoods, Dyllan-Morrisons, Ivanovs, Piersons

“Your ambition will get you farther than the darkness in others could. Slytherin House will help you reach your goals, and your sense of responsibility will keep you in check, when others fall down paths not meant for them.” – Sorting Hat

OWL Grades:
-Transfiguration: O (Thanks to his wand in part)
-Charms: O (His second favorite subject)
-Potions: O (He's rather particular so following instructions comes easy)
-History of Magic: EE (While it was interesting, he put more effort into other things)
-Astronomy: A
-Herbology: A (He doesn't have a green thumb apparently)
-Care of Magical Creatures: EE
-Divination: A (Yeah... Keiran hates Divination. With a passion. But he tried his darndest)
-Defense Against The Dark Arts: EE

Arithmancy – EE (He actually rather liked this class)
Ancient Studies – EE (Again, interesting, but he preferred learning spells)
Astronomy – EE (He worked harder in his finals years to be better at Astronomy)
Care of Magical Creatures – EE
Charms – O
Defence Against the Dark Arts – O
Divination – A (Still hated it.)
Herbology – A
History of Magic – EE
Potions – O
Transfiguration – O (Undoubtedly his best subject)

WAND: Ash Wood, Unicorn Hair, 9 and ½ inches, Pliable (Excellent for Transfiguration)

-Ash is the correct wood in Celtic Lore for Keiran's birthday. (As is for February 18-May 17)

-Unicorn Hair, as opposed to Kelpie Hair (which is considered an inferior substance for a wand core) is said to produce the most consistent magic.

-Average wands are 9 to 14 inches. Keiran's is slightly short compared to others, though this doesn't appear to matter other than the fact that it's not shorter than usual (which would imply lack of ability)

-Pliable implies the ability to be moulded or shaped, which makes it fitting for transfiguration. Also implies his ability to switch sides back and forth and change easily.

PLAY BY: Colin O’Donoghue

EYE COLOUR: Blue (Well, sort of Hazel, really. Sometimes they look darker.)

BODY BUILD: built/muscular

He has short, dark brown hair which he usually at the very least combs, if not fixes in some way so it looks good. He also has facial hair – at least stubble. He despises when it's patchy, though, so sometimes he just gets rid of it for a while. In the end, he ends up growing it back in because he feels it fits him. He does have a bit of chest hair but not extensive.

Keiran has perfected the eyebrow-raise smolder that apparently is considered charming, but can just as quickly turn around and fix someone with an intimidating, disapproving glare. He has blue eyes that sometimes appear darker. It sort of depends on what he's wearing and the mood he's in.

He has rather thick eyebrows, strong cheek bones, and an angled face. His chin is nearly squared, and the tip of his nose points downward slightly. He has at least a trace of a beard and mustache at any given time (except for the times mentioned above). His forehead could be considered a bit large, but it suits him well. He has a crooked smile which pulls towards the left side of his face.

He's considered “fit” in both the physical definition and the UK slang usage. He's tall, even for an adult. After being in sports for so long, he's still muscular – he'd gladly take up a Quidditch match with his friends and family or over summer and holidays. He's got a scar on his right knee from an accident back home over the summer before sixth year.

Keiran prefers to wear darker colors, because lighter colors make him look very pale. He likes sweaters and jackets (like the picture above), but doesn't like wearing shorts now that he's older. Wizard robes suit him well, and he now has a particular affinity for it since Darcie has begun clinging to and trailing behind them when worn. He ends up wearing dress shoes more than trainers or the like, if only because he wants to look professional. When he's at home, though, he'd likely return to trainers and jeans with a t-shirt.

A stranger would probably describe Keiran as a little bit too put together, realistically. He always appears stoic, cool or serious, and doesn’t often go out in public without looking his best. It probably stems from his time as a Slytherin student, fearing that people would like him less because of his assumed blood status, so he tried to make up for it in other ways.

His friends, on the other hand, know better. Much like Keiran’s at-home dress, he is very casual around his friends. Some, like Robin, Theodore, Baldric and Oliver, have likely seen him at his worst. And Millie and the kids, of course. But they’ve caught him when he was dying, when he had just woken up, when he was ill and so on. Shirts aren’t exactly required in those situations, and neither are shoes. In truth, he’s grown into wandering the house without shoes. It’s harder to accidentally step on little feet without them on, after all.

Those that Keiran used to think were true but no longer are have been struck off.

GOAL:  Keiran no longer holds out hope of obtaining the Headmaster position at Hogwarts, as he is no longer sure he wants it. It would be the epitome of everything he has been working towards for years now, but allowing his world to take on the idea of a nuclear family is something he values much higher than anything else, now.

Type: INTJ
Introvert(16%) iNtuitive(16%) Thinking(28%) Judging(59%)
Other fictional INTJs: Mr. Darcy, Moriarty, Gandalf, Rosencrantz and Gildenstern

“To outsiders, INTJs may appear to project an aura of "definiteness", of self-confidence. This self-confidence, sometimes mistaken for simple arrogance by the less decisive, is actually of a very specific rather than a general nature; its source lies in the specialized knowledge systems that most INTJs start building at an early age. When it comes to their own areas of expertise -- and INTJs can have several -- they will be able to tell you almost immediately whether or not they can help you, and if so, how. INTJs know what they know, and perhaps still more importantly, they know what they don't know.

INTJs are perfectionists, with a seemingly endless capacity for improving upon anything that takes their interest. What prevents them from becoming chronically bogged down in this pursuit of perfection is the pragmatism so characteristic of the type: INTJs apply (often ruthlessly) the criterion "Does it work?" to everything from their own research efforts to the prevailing social norms. This in turn produces an unusual independence of mind, freeing the INTJ from the constraints of authority, convention, or sentiment for its own sake.

INTJs are known as the "Systems Builders" of the types, perhaps in part because they possess the unusual trait combination of imagination and reliability. Whatever system an INTJ happens to be working on is for them the equivalent of a moral cause to an INFJ; both perfectionism and disregard for authority may come into play, as INTJs can be unsparing of both themselves and the others on the project. Anyone considered to be "slacking," including superiors, will lose their respect -- and will generally be made aware of this; INTJs have also been known to take it upon themselves to implement critical decisions without consulting their supervisors or co-workers. On the other hand, they do tend to be scrupulous and even-handed about recognizing the individual contributions that have gone into a project, and have a gift for seizing opportunities which others might not even notice.

In the broadest terms, what INTJs "do" tends to be what they "know". Typical INTJ career choices are in the sciences and engineering, but they can be found wherever a combination of intellect and incisiveness are required (e.g., law, some areas of academia). INTJs can rise to management positions when they are willing to invest time in marketing their abilities as well as enhancing them, and (whether for the sake of ambition or the desire for privacy) many also find it useful to learn to simulate some degree of surface conformism in order to mask their inherent unconventionality.

Personal relationships, particularly romantic ones, can be the INTJ's Achilles heel. While they are capable of caring deeply for others (usually a select few), and are willing to spend a great deal of time and effort on a relationship, the knowledge and self-confidence that make them so successful in other areas can suddenly abandon or mislead them in interpersonal situations.

This happens in part because many INTJs do not readily grasp the social rituals; for instance, they tend to have little patience and less understanding of such things as small talk and flirtation (which most types consider half the fun of a relationship). To complicate matters, INTJs are usually extremely private people, and can often be naturally impassive as well, which makes them easy to misread and misunderstand. Perhaps the most fundamental problem, however, is that INTJs really want people to make sense. :-) This sometimes results in a peculiar naivete', paralleling that of many Fs -- only instead of expecting inexhaustible affection and empathy from a romantic relationship, the INTJ will expect inexhaustible reasonability and directness.
Probably the strongest INTJ assets in the interpersonal area are their intuitive abilities and their willingness to "work at" a relationship. Although as Ts they do not always have the kind of natural empathy that many Fs do, the Intuitive function can often act as a good substitute by synthesizing the probable meanings behind such things as tone of voice, turn of phrase, and facial expression. This ability can then be honed and directed by consistent, repeated efforts to understand and support those they care about, and those relationships which ultimately do become established with an INTJ tend to be characterized by their robustness, stability, and good communications.

INTJs are idea people. Anything is possible; everything is negotiable. Whatever the outer circumstances, INTJs are ever perceiving inner pattern-forms and using real-world materials to operationalize them. Others may see what is and wonder why; INTJs see what might be and say "Why not?!" Paradoxes, antinomies, and other contradictory phenomena aptly express these intuitors' amusement at those whom they feel may be taking a particular view of reality too seriously. INTJs enjoy developing unique solutions to complex problems.

Feeling has a modest inner room, two doors down from the Most Imminent iNtuition. It doesn't get out much, but lends its influence on behalf of causes which are Good and Worthy and Humane. We may catch a glimpse of it in the unspoken attitude of good will, or the gracious smile or nod. Some question the existence of Feeling in this type, yet its unseen balance to Thinking is a cardinal dimension in the full measure of the INTJ's soul.

Sensing serves with a good will, or not at all. As other inferior functions, it has only a rudimentary awareness of context, amount or degree. Thus INTJs sweat the details or, at times, omit them. "I've made up my mind, don't confuse me with the facts" could well have been said by an INTJ on a mission. Sensing's extraverted attitude is evident in this type's bent to savor sensations rather than to merely categorize them. Indiscretions of indulgence are likely an expression of the unconscious vengeance of the inferior.

In INTJs, interest in learning a subject revolves around finding the answer to the question, “Why is this so?” The clearer and deeper the answer this type receives during the learning process, the greater their interest in the topic, and the greater their desire to delve deeper into the subject.
Their desire to study something is driven by a search for ideas that can answer not only fundamental questions, but also practical questions of popular interest.

INTJs are comfortable carrying out a conversation. They are neither arrogant nor are they formal, but might refrain from becoming quick acquaintances. They can come up against difficulties in situations requiring finer soft skills when communicating, such as being very tactful or particularly patient. On the whole, INTJs respect the established rules of communications although at times they may see them as a formality or a relic of tradition.

INTJs may find it difficult to express themselves about the finer feelings of the soul: the topics of love or lyric poetry can fail to elicit a strong emotional response in them.
In communication INTJs usually come across as well thought out and to the point. Despite their introversive attitude, when they have something they find profoundly interesting, like an idea or project of some sort, their enthusiasm about it may become quite “contagious” and can spread to those around them.

At times, INTJs seem somewhat closed and distant in communication. But it is during this time that they are revising their views and conceptions, and/or are involved in forming new ones. Those who can guess the reasons for their apparent detachedness can easily engage INTJs in conversation by making some critical comment regarding the concepts INTJs have deduced. In these situations INTJs can quite often become wordy and very talkative.

An INTJ’s social contacts are, as a rule, low in number and mostly limited to his or her circle of relatives, friends, colleagues and others of a like mind.

That being said, INTJs can have quite a few business contacts, because many people find it interesting or important to get an INTJ’s in-depth expert opinion, which they can offer on many serious issues. Their business communication usually includes exchange of points of view, ideas, discussing organizational methods and solutions.”

Biggest fear: Failure. This is still true. But it has more to do with failing is family now than just small tasks.

Biggest flaw: Keiran used to consider it a talent, but he has been taught otherwise. He has a habit of trying to shape himself based upon the circumstances. Sociologically, this could be considered a good thing, but he takes it too far. When he taught, he was a picture of the perfect professor – very stern, no nonsense. As soon as he left the room, though, he could change to a proper chavvy lad when around Robin. Around Millie, he’ll force himself to say what he’s feeling, knowing that she would want it. He wasn’t very good at that part, but just when he told her he wasn’t going to do it anymore, he got good at it. So while he does think more actively about not doing it, in some areas it helps him. It does drive people mad, though, because it’s very hard to get to know him, and he actually prefers it that way.

Greatest Asset: He would say it’s his ability to Transfigure things. It’s gotten him the career he wanted most, and although he did actually love the sense of power and strength that his Ministry job gave him, he missed the kids and the castle.

Proudest Achievement: Landing his Ministry job thanks to Robert Lupin.

Biggest Achievement: Probably his children, even though that sort of doesn’t count.

Deepest Regret: Not following through about his father’s death.

Worst Nightmare: Not making it home. He’s had many a run-in where this might have been the outcome. He’d rather it never would be. Kthanks.

Greatest Disappointment: It should probably be something that happened to him, but he’s actually excessively disappointed in himself when it comes to his new family.

Vices: He has a slightly addictive personality. When tempted, he has managed to make it out in the past, but if he lost Millie, for example, that ability to say no would go out the window.

Current secret desire/wish: That I cannot tell you. It has to do with the “NEW” part of his history. So. Yeah. Secrety secrets for Keiran.

Random facts:
- Keiran is pedantic.
- He puts the most faith in Baldric Pierson. He just hasn’t realized it yet. Millie is, however, in second. His reasons are pretty valid, all things considered.
- His favorite person, though, is Millie. But Darcie is encroaching on his wife’s territory very rapidly.
- The thing that irritates him the most is surprises when he’s on a mission or has something to say/do.
- The most calming thing in the world for Keiran is probably hot chocolate, perhaps oddly. His mother instilled that in him, and he and Millie have taken to it when they were in need of it.

- Keiran needs to be more sarcastic and stubborn than my other characters, and can’t necessarily take jokes well most of the time.
- He used to be less family oriented than he is now, and might actually have overtaken Oliver and Erik at this point. See history.
- He has to have a shorter fuse than Gilbert, and offer very little warning for whomever he’s in a scene with.
- He isn’t as accidentally blunt as Adrienne. In fact, being blunt is difficult unless he’s very angry or very happy (though that mostly applies to Millie).
- His feelings aren’t are volatile as Christian’s, but are more apparent than Apollo’s.
- He is less reckless than Henry and Ben, but more brave than Avery.
- Vastly less outgoing than Jane, and much less talkative than Mai.
- He doesn’t have Kit’s forgiving (or, for that matter, giving) streak.

Is actually a Rookwood, believed to have died at a young age. She faked her death in order to marry Aiden, who was considered unworthy, and changed her name. Keiran knows now, making things a bit easier with the Rookwoods, but not by much. He dreads visits from the rest of his family aside from Theodore.

SOCIAL STATUS: Wealthy, partly via family but also through his own funds. They refuse to take any money from the Rookwoods, however.

Original Information:
Keiran was born the only child of Aiden and Bridget Hayes, two Irish folks. Aiden worked with Potions in the basement of their home while Bridget wrote books for Muggle children. Together, they earned quite a lot of money.

Because Keiran's parents didn't need to live near the Ministry for their jobs, they remained in Galway near his Grandparents on his dad's side. His Grandparents on his mum's side lived down by Dublin. [NOTE: Untrue.]

Kerian gained his mum's love of horses because they had a large plot of land and kept a few horses on the property at any given time. He would ride with her, and sometimes could convince his dad to join them. This, along with being part of community sports teams (Muggle sports) influenced him to be more athletic even before learning about Quidditch from his dad when he was nine.

Because their property was so large, Aiden saw no problem with teaching Keiran Quidditch. No one could see them anyways. Over the next to years, Keiran practiced nearly incessantly around his parents’ homeschooling him in Muggle subjects and his helping with the horses.

Two of his grandparents – on his dad's side – died in a car accident in Dublin when Keiran was seven. The funeral was small and quiet, which Keiran was grateful for. There were rarely times when he got emotional, but this was one of them. He would have been embarrassed to have his mates there. (He's no different today.)

He didn't have very many good mates before Hogwarts, because he was at home so much. There were a few Muggles who lived in the area, which he got together with every now and then. But he was rather content to just spend time at home.

Although his mum is a writer, she wrote for children. So while Keiran understood the basics of grammar, it wasn't until he had to write essays at Hogwarts that he fully began to understand syntax and diction. Writing objectively still isn't his strongest point.

Keiran, in actuality, was born as the nephew of Thaddeus, Eamon, Cedric and Augustus (by half). His mother detached herself from the Rookwood family, but Theodore found out when Keiran was 27, changing everything.

Original+New Information:
Although he was surprised to have been put into Slytherin house, and was of the opinion that it would be bad if his housemates knew he was Half-blooded (or so he thought at the time), it really was fitting. He started playing Quidditch more seriously in his second year, after having learned it at home and spent some time in his first year playing two-on-twos and the like with his mates or his roommates.

Third Year, he discovered his skill at and love of Transfiguration in class. They were learning to transfigure larger objects, and it still came fairly easy for Keiran. He realized that he would rather spend his time learning spells than studying for things like Herbology, which he simply did not get down.

Fourth Year – Finally allowed to go to Hogsmeade, Keiran and his mates found the joke shop and while they enjoyed it, he found it immature and dull. Surprises simply annoy him. This was the year he realized he was rather good with girls, and often had a few of them interested in him. He never took anything seriously, though. Not being so young anyways.

Fifth Year - Spending less time with his mates, and more in his classes and the library, he found himself becoming far better prepared for the OWLs than he had anticipated. He did quite well. Realizing that he was nearing the top twenty or so students in his year, Keiran decided that if he wanted to do well, he probably should keep up the hard work.

Sixth Year – The summer before Sixth Year, Keiran was helping his mum clean and feed the horses when one was spooked by garden snake and knocked him into the gate of its stall. He scraped up his knee and still has a scar. After his OWLs, Keiran took schoolwork more seriously. Those tests weren't exactly easy. With renewed desire to succeed, he tried to convince his mates to study harder with him, and a few of them did. The others sort of drifted away. This year, he also met Irene, who he took an interest in romantically. She was still in love with her ex-boyfriend and graduated at the end of the year, and he was left with the distinct impression that he had been used.

Seventh Year – NEWT studying took up a lot of his time, but this year he had become Quidditch Captain of his house team. This, of course, garnered him a few more friends, though not all of them were genuine. Nearing the final match of the House Cup, his debt to Audriana meant that he had to make a deal with her. She had helped him get Irene’s attention the previous year, by dealing with a rather rotten Ravenclaw. Now, she wanted his help in return. He was asked to feign interest in her to annoy Gavin Blackmoor, who she eventually married about a decade later. Of course, this only added to the idea that he was someone worth using but not worth creating any sort of realistic attachment to. They would have won the House Cup, were it not for a very, very ridiculous incident with one Fred Weasley II. It is not spoken of. Seriously, don’t. He hasn’t even told Millie about it.

Summers – He returned home for the summers, and if he wanted to see his mates he would go to their residences or floo to England to meet up in Diagon Alley or some place similar. His family often took trips for a few weeks during the summer to America or other countries on the mainland. His favorite place to visit is Austria – he loves the mountains and the culture.

Updated Information: (Scroll down for new info beyond Keiran’s old plots)
After Hogwarts, Keiran attended university, coming to the conclusion that he wanted to return to Hogwarts to teach. He moved to London to attend Uni, and ended up staying there in a flat. He visits his family in Galway often – Holidays and a few weeks in the summer.

Through University, he studied hard and graduated at the top of his class, much to his surprise. The night of graduation, he attempted to tell Avery Bishop that he had feelings for her, and kissed her, only to be rejected quite firmly. Another strike against him. He definitely did not have a great track record with the ladies, despite the seeming likelihood that he would do fine. His time away from University involved jobs in Diagon Alley, visiting home, and traveling around the UK and into Europe with his mates.

His first trip without his parents happened his sophomore year in University, as they were both busy during the weeks he had off. He and his Quidditch pals went on a road-trip around the UK, Keiran driving. They went to the Quidditch World Cup as well as local restaurants, bars, and tourist traps. Just the usual things.

He spent four years at University, while some people he knew stayed five. He spent a year and a half interning with a Ministry worker whose job had an emphasis in Transfiguration. Then he applied for the job at Hogwarts, and was surprised to be chosen when the job became available.

During his first year teaching at Hogwarts, he was shocked to find himself the Head of Slytherin house, and a whole array of insane things happened that year. The Ministry passed a law, thanks to Ana Levski and Elijah Krum, requiring people to marry someone of a different blood status if they were pureblood. He wrote down “Half-blood” on the register, believing it to be true at the time. He was matched with Melissa “Millie” Finnigan, and wouldn’t have been if his mother had not lied to him about being a Muggle. He hasn’t actually realized this, but if he does, he’ll probably thank her for hiding the truth, which is very against his nature. Millie basically lived with him at Hogwarts during her last year as a student. He took to calling her “Missie,” almost on accident, but only uses it when he’s in a particularly good mood, or he needs to remind her how he feels. He tried teaching her to love “Melissa” but that didn’t go over well so he gave up the fight. He still secretly loves the idea, but only ever calls her Melissa when he is absolutely furious with her. So that’s not a great plan.

Avery Bishop married Robin Ivanov, after a bet between the two boys went badly. Keiran was not a fan of the idea at all, but they had been matched up and it wasn’t really up to them. They didn’t mind, of course, the two of them. Of course, one drunk Avery led to a huge row between Keiran and Millie at Christmas during their second year of marriage. But it didn’t matter in the end, because Keiran’s father was murdered, and Bridget’s discovery of it broke up the argument. To this day, he has no idea that Mairen Tierney and Scorpius Malfoy know who did it. In fact, only four people in the world know, and none of them are tempted to tell Keiran, even though three of them are friends with him. Aiden was working on a potion that would fake a lack of fertility for those forced into the marriage law against their wishes. He had just found a version that he thought would work effectively when he was killed by one of Ana’s lackeys.

Keiran found out about the fact that he would become a father about five months after they were wed, during their first Christmas together. She also told him about her parents a bit after, and he decided that he despised Lavender even before he had met her. He desperately wishes he could have known Seamus, but he died before Keiran had ever met Millie, so that couldn’t be helped. Around the same time as he found out about the baby (babies, actually), he left Hogwarts to take up a school of sorts, held in his mother’s home in Galway. Any students who wanted to attend were welcome, but in particular he welcomed in those who had been banned from Hogwarts due to their “magical creature” status. Several of his friends joined him in teaching there, and those that did are the ones that he feels closest to, to this day.

Once that passed, however, he returned to Hogwarts as Deputy Headmaster in place of Amelia Cooper, and took his position back from Adrienne Reynolds, who had given it a try for a term before moving to work at the Prophet.

Keiran has never been a good father, though not all of it can be fully blamed on him. At first, he feared that he wouldn’t know what to do, when Millie took to it so easily. That passed, however, and instead he came to the conclusion that he was just ‘bad at it,’ and when things started to get dangerous for the students at his mother’s home, he felt that he couldn’t abandon them despite Millie’s pleas for him to do just that. Family should have come first, but after he came to the realization that both he and Millie had lost their fathers or had bad relationships with at least one of their parents, he wasn’t sure he could do it. And the guilt of being away made him even more nervous to try it.

Ironically, Keiran and Millie Hayes were heralded as the Ministry’s “First Success Story,” since Theodore and Hallie Rookwood were not doing well. They were meant to hold Counseling periods at Hogwarts but they failed spectacularly.

As Bridget once said, the kids could have forgotten his face. And that terrified him. By the time he decided to get his act together, thanks to Jack Dyllan and Kip Parsons, she had cheated on him. When she said as much, Keiran felt defeated. His assumptions seemed to have been proven correct, and when he told her that he couldn’t force her to love him if she didn’t, she brought out his worst side, breaking him. He shouted at her, and they had it out until they both came to the conclusion that they couldn’t give up on it. To this day, he automatically hates anyone named Alfie.

After that, he worked much harder to be involved, and it was easier once Millie took up the position of Divination professor, even though it felt strange that she had sort of traded places with him. But there was an attack on his school, no thanks to Ben Pierson, and although Baldric didn’t know the truth at the time, Bae saved him and Theodore got Cael Ivanov to come and heal him. From then on, he has walked with a limp. For a time, he was partially addicted to pain potions, though he worked with Khaat Lupin to break that addiction. His leg doesn’t hurt as badly now, as it was in great part psychological, but he does still have trouble using it despite his lack of a need for a cane as of late.

When things got bad with the werewolves, they attacked Hogwarts. He had been in the train, helping students escape, when it fell off the track and into the Great Lake. Keiran credits Baldric for saving his life not once, but twice thanks to that incident. But he was under water for too long, hit his head too hard. After all of the other madness, he lost a year of time, memory wise, and didn’t remember his children or his wife or what happened to his leg. Millie got proper scratched up as well, and although Keiran didn’t realize it, she went through the same sort of dependency that he had before, except partially on alcohol in her case.

His memories returned after Millie brought their dog Bean home, a good several weeks later. Bits and pieces had been coming back – mainly bad. He didn’t want to admit the things he did remember, and something about Millie’s decision to bring in a foreign person (or, in this case, a dog) felt like she was trying to replace him because he was taking too long. He worried that it would mean she expected a family, fully unaware that they already had two children. She hid it, partly for the good of each individual, but Keiran now believes that it was mainly for the good of the babies. He wouldn’t have been much better than he had been the first time, probably. He also didn’t know about his father’s death.

Still, he pretends to hate Bean. He has Lucius Malfoy the cat, who took to him immediately (actually, before he even met Millie, the cat was lingering about). Lucy and Narcissa the cat had kittens, one of whom was named Draco and passed on to Ben and Baldric. Avery Bishop and her daughter have Scorpius.

Anyway, he started to piece things together as Millie told him stories and showed him pictures. They took the floo to Bridget’s house and he was re-introduced to the twins. He also had forgotten about Bridget’s ability to use magic, which could have meant another argument, but after he found out about his father’s murder and found himself sitting in the library, staring at the book spines, it came tumbling back far too quickly.

Soon after, he helped bail Ben out of Azkaban on Baldric’s behalf, and once the Ministry repealed its marriage mandate, he decided to ask Millie to renew their vows. As acting Headmaster at the time, in Theodore’s place, he cancelled classes and got Baldric to help him out. To Keiran, bailing Ben out was more an act of mercy than of money, so he didn't mind. It meant the world to Bae, who is practically his son, so he had to do it.

He worked at Hogwarts for a total of two years before moving to a job as the head of the Department of International Wizarding Communications at the Ministry. He took that job when he and Millie were going through another rough patch. That happened after Darcie, their third child, was born. They were having communication issues, and he decided to move to London with Darcie so that he could work closer to the Ministry. It also, he hoped, would give them more excitement about their time while together. He also pretends he hates Millie’s new(ish) house elf, Yeti.

Millie’s past came back to haunt her, though, and she enlisted Peter Howard to help her. When she decided to turn to Keiran for help, they ended up robbing a museum, only to have Peter show up to help them. Keiran was fairly furious, thinking the worst about Peter and Millie, and fully unaware of what Peter knew: Keiran was his brother. He ended up saving Millie’s life by killing her attacker, and moved back to Millie’s rooms in Hogwarts. They got Oliver and Elijah and Peter in on chasing down the men that were after her and Baldric. (Of course, Baldric ducked out of the whole affair, choosing to stay home with his new family).

Over that final month, Keiran and Millie were properly working, and the children were able to feel as though they were part of a proper home. He realized, however, that he had been ignoring his best friends, the Ivanovs. Avery’s daughter had her first birthday a good four or five weeks before Keiran got around to getting in touch with her. The news he received was anything but pleasant.

Keiran had always known that Robin was up to no good on some level, but the extent surprised him. In fact, he was even more shocked to find out that Avery had been up to no good with him as of late. That is, until he went missing and failed to show up on his daughter’s birthday after Quidditch practice with the Falcons. About a week later, she received a letter saying that he was dead, but refused to believe it. Otherwise, she felt, why would they tell her as much? It didn’t add up as far as she was concerned. She tried to get Keiran’s attention, but with everything going on, he initially ignored her.

In November of 2028, however, he got back to her. When he learned that his best friend had been missing for over a month, he saw no other option. He had to go and find him. Keiran told Millie that he would be back in a few weeks, perhaps. A month at the latest.

It has been four months and twelve days.
