Darcie is surprisingly tall for her age, which she likely got from her father, who seemed almost like a giant until she reached her growth spurt. Her features seem to quietly represent her mother. Her eyes hold that same energy, and although her hair is darker than her elder siblings, it has the texture to match Millie's. When she was very young, although she was charming, she needed some time before she would really start to grow into her features. She's thoroughly embarrassed by the hundreds of pictures her parents took of her while they were living in multiple houses, traveling back and forth for work, etc. Plus, Millie always kept photo albums of the kids, and Darcie gets really red-faced when those are brought out.

In her later years, she took to makeup, which - as it did with all of the others - terrified her father, and found herself more and more amused by doing things with her hair, whether that was curling it or putting it up somehow. When she has a lazy day, she puts her hair up into the messy bun that Millie taught her during one of their warmer summers. To be honest, though, she has more lazy days than she does active ones, mainly because she didn't take to Quidditch like her elder siblings. If she appears athletic (mainly in her late teens/adult years), it's likely due to exercising on her own, or trying to convince her mother or siblings to do so with her.

01. Darcie wants to accomplish something that will impress her family.
02. She wants to find a balance between being fully independent and being important to her family.
03. In her early years at Hogwarts, she wanted to come out at the end with top marks, but she quickly got caught up in spending time with family and family friends.

01. She often wakes up in the middle of the night because she turns over so much she gets tangled in her sheets.
02. Darcie tries to convince Liam to let her help when he's down, but she never really seems to manage her way in.
03. A s she grows up, she starts to care more and more about her appearance.
04. If she can make an awkward situation additionally uncomfortable, she'll figure out how to do it.

The one thing she won't ever admit out loud is that, while she adores her father and has always looked up to him, she has a need to prove herself to her mother, given how the twins are close to her. The younger kids all seem, at least to Darcie, to fall somewhere in the middle, but at the beginning, it was a lot of Keiran trying to make up for not being too great with the twins, so she spent more time with him than with Millie, and she worries sometimes that Millie likes them better. In truth, she would love to be the favorite of both parents. She, of course, has no idea that they secretly do like her quite a lot. That probably has something to do with the fact that she's part of what saved their marriage.

Darcie most wants to differentiate herself from her many siblings and cousins (not to mention "cousins" who are basically just family friends), whether that's through her adventures, such as her year at Beauxbatons, or through a job that is impressive, comparatively. She's always thought that she might like to do something at the Ministry, because she heard all about how her dad was important there. But at the same time, she sometimes thinks she might want to just have a couple jobs, like helping out at her mom and Uncle's shop while helping at some sort of primary school. Since her parents were both teachers, at least at some point or other, she doesn't see why she couldn't do it, too. So, really, she'll say that she wants to be an individual and wants to be important, but part of it is that she wants to impress her parents, or at least please them.

Darcie knows when to behave and when it's okay for her to act up. When it comes to classes and schooling, she's very focused and very determined. Were it not for all of the family friends she attends school with, she would probably end up top of her class. However, when she is with those friends, she can be very impulsive. More often than not, the spontaneous decisions she makes are in poor taste. She's a bit more careful when she is at risk of her father finding out and chiding her, or her mother freaking out about something being stupidly dangerous. Between her parents, Darcie knows Millie is the one less likely to panic, but the idea of disappointing Millie is pretty terrifying.

She speaks quietly, even when around her friends, though it's more because she grew up in a loud house and wanted to offer a bit of calm, so the habit just stuck with her. She's more or less stuck in her ways unless it comes to one of her hair-brained ideas. Realistically, she isn't as creative as she thinks she is, and relies rather heavily on her book smarts.

Personality type: ESFJ

"All else being equal, ESFJs enjoy being in charge. They see problems clearly and delegate easily, work hard and play with zest. ESFJs, as do most SJs, bear strong allegiance to rights of seniority. They willingly provide service (which embodies life's meaning) and expect the same from others.

ESFJs are easily wounded. And when wounded, their emotions will not be contained. They by nature "wear their hearts on their sleeves," often exuding warmth and bonhomie, but not infrequently boiling over with the vexation of their souls.

Strong, contradictory forces consume the ESFJ. Their sense of right and wrong wrestles with an overwhelming rescuing, 'mothering' drive. This sometimes results in swift, immediate action taken upon a transgressor, followed by stern reprimand; ultimately, however, the prodigal is wrested from the gallows of their folly, just as the noose tightens and all hope is lost, by the very executioner!

When a decision must be made, especially one involving the risk of conflict (abhorrent to ESFJs), there ensues an in-house wrestling match between the aforementioned black-and-white Values and the Nemesis of Discord. The contender pits self against self, once firmly deciding with the Right, then switching to Prudence to forestall hostilities, countered by unswerving Values, ad exhaustium, winner take all.

As caretakers, ESFJs sense danger all around--germs within, the elements without, unscrupulous malefactors, insidious character flaws. The world is a dangerous place, not to be trusted. Not that the ESFJ is paranoid; 'hyper-vigilant' would be more precise. And thus they serve excellently as protectors, outstanding in fields such as medical care and elementary education."

*This is not going to be a complete history, because all of the threads on this account will be in the future, so it's subject to change. But I've put in some things that will/should happen no matter what.

Although Keiran Hayes left Hogwarts before Darcie ever got to see him teach as a full-time professor or as the Deputy Headmaster, she had no choice but to catch on to her father's near-obsession with Transfiguration both as a topic and in practice. When he took up occasionally guest-lecturing for the Transfiguration Professors, however, she had a habit of sneakily tagging along far enough for Keiran to give up on sending her back to their rooms. Many students and faculty probably remember her clinging to the backs of his robes as he walked to class, and those who attended his lectures undoubtedly remember her because of the billion questions she asked throughout the lesson.

Of course, while her elder siblings were closer to their mother, due to Keiran's absences while he worked with the "half-breed" students, Darcie found that Keiran was quite set on righting that wrong. He may not have succeeded with Liam or Kelly in the way he did with the younger kids, he did make a point of showing them all that he cared. Darcie was the one who always dragged him away from his work to join them in games, while she left the job of calling him to meals or helping make meals with him to the twins. It helped, too, that she spent more of her time at Keiran's during her first year, or just with him while Millie was teaching classes.

As her younger siblings were born, she began to cling to books in the subjects that her parents most appreciated. Transfiguration for Keiran and Herbology for Millie, because of her shop. Although she tried to pick up on Divination, she never thought she could do it, so she essentially ruined her own chances. Cassandra, the next Hayes daughter, seemed to pick up on that sort of thing immediately, and it just served to further discourage Darcie. Cassie was also the more artistic of the eldest four children, so Darcie continued to focus on picking up fun facts or knowledge that would help her in school.

First year was easier for Darcie than for other students, almost definitely, because she knew a large number of the students who were attending alongside her. Both of her older siblings, as well as all of her parents' friends' children around her age, were in attendance. Throughout her schooling, she would find more and more of those family friends were in classes with her. She did try to make friends outside of that group, though, because it became tiring to see everybody over and over, and she knew full well that anything and everything would get back to her parents.

Fourth year, she went for a year to Beauxbatons. Partly because she felt confined by all of the relatives, cousins and so-on that attended Hogwarts with her, but also because her parents were so involved at Hogwarts that she wanted to experience school life without someone to help her or someone to look over her shoulder all of the time. To prepare for that, she spent part of her third year teaching herself (and pretending like she could teach her parents) French. However, in order to be allowed to go, Darcie had to convince "Uncle" Theo to let Esme go with her. As a 7th year, Esme was the responsible party, more or less.

She never got involved with Quidditch, as sports are not at all her thing. She became more and more prim as she got older, and probably annoyed Kelly, if none of the others, by being determined to appear well dressed and put-together at all times.
