If I Was a Rich Girl Empty If I Was a Rich Girl

Post by Jack Kubin Sun Jul 19, 2015 2:38 am

The clock struck nine in the morning as Jack stood in line at Gringotts, his eyes scanning the people in front of him as they slowly began to go to the Goblin Tellers, one by one. Today apparently was a very busy day for the bank, so it was taking an especially long time to gather money from his vault. Jack sighed patiently as he watched the line slowly trickle down in front of him, but the line behind him was growing twice as fast as the line in front of him shrunk.

The wizard scratched his head, before running his hand through his unkempt hair, and it fell back onto his forehead lightly, the light brown mess beginning to appear at the very edge of his vision. Jack hasn't been taking good care of himself recently, so it was a surprise that he had even gotten a job at The Daily Prophet. But he had made a vow to at least tidy himself up a little bit now that he was a working man, which is why he needed the money from the bank to begin with.

As Jack finally got to his turn in line, he made his way to the open Goblin, and opened his mouth to speak,

"I'd like to withdraw some money from my amount."

The sickly goblin eyed Jack, before reaching his hand out for an item of proof that showed who Jack really was. He pulled his wand out from his deep pants pocket and handed it to the Goblin, who inspected it, before returning the wand and signalling Jack to go towards the Vault Trolleys, where he made his way over, slouching slightly. Jack relaxed as he collapsed onto the chair, and closed his eyes, assuming that the trolley was going to begin moving.

After about 30 seconds of the trolley remaining static, Jack opened his eyes, before looking at the goblin in charge. "Is there a reason we're not going yet?" Jack asked, confused on why the trolley has gone nowhere. The goblin stared back at Jack with its dead, black eyes, before opening its chapped mouth slowly to speak,

"Due to the congestion in Gringotts, we're allowing multiple people onto a trolley at once."

Jack sighed impatiently before nodding, and he crossed his arms tightly before looking ahead at the darkness that the trolley would head for, if the other person who would take up a spot on the rather small trolley would ever come.

If I Was a Rich Girl Empty Re: If I Was a Rich Girl

Vanilla had walked into Gringotts needing to get some money out to get some money from her vault. She needed to get some robes for her job since she was working with herbs and an assortment of other things. Her regular clothes were starting to smell like the herbs she tended. She reached the front of the line and went up to one of the Goblin tellers.

"I need to withdraw money from my vault." She said as she presented him with the proof of who she was along with her wand.

The goblin checked everything and pointed her towards a trolley that already had someone in it.

Vanilla made her way over to the trolley and settled in the seat next to the person. She kept her eyes straight ahead and knew that it was rare that two people would share the same trolley. She brushed up against the person since it was a rather small trolley.

"Sorry," She said trying to make herself smaller so she wouldn't constantly be brushing against him. She always hated the trolleys and knew that once they started going she would close her eyes.

The goblin in charge got the trolley moving forward in the darkness.

Vanilla gripped her seat nervously as they moved through the opening. She slowly breathed trying to make sure she didn't have a panic attack. The darkness enclosed around them as they began picking up speed.

As Jack heard steps heading in the direction of his trolley, he opened his closed eyes and turned his head to address the other wizard, and lifted his eyebrow as she got in, scooting over to the side so that there was enough room for her to squeeze in. He nodded as an acceptance of her apology, not saying much else, except muttering a barely audible 'It's all good, dawg' and turning back ahead, where the Goblin in front of them stared with his beady black eyes at the two of them, before slowly turning back around and starting the trolley.

As they began to pick up speed, Jacks eyes scanned the darkness around them, and his head revolved as he spotted the outlines of the Goblin, the sides of the trolley, and his new acquaintance, before his eyes made their way down and he just barely spotted her hands that were gripping the trolley in fear, he assumed.

"You alright?"

He asked, his voice naturally quiet and calm, just barely audible over the air around them as the trolley flew down the tracks, twisting and turning in the darkness to their respective vaults.

Nilla barely heard his mumbled acceptance of her bumping into him. She squeezed her eyes when everything began flying past them. The trolley jolt slightly causing her to brush past him again. 'Ugh why did I have to get stuck on this dang thing!' she thought to herself trying to remind herself why she was here. Hearing his barely audible voice she opened her eyes and looked over at him.

"Nope, I hate these things." She said through gritted teeth as she gripped the seat even harder trying to think of something else. She only hoped that she would be off the trolley sooner rather than later. "I'm hoping that this thing ends soon."

She hated that he saw her terrified of being on the trolley and the way she clenched the seat.

Jack pulled himself even closer to his side of the trolley, trying to make room for her as the trolley jolted and shook. He was was able to remain still and not move too much during the trolley ride. While the darkness was quite settling, Jack couldn't help but agree slightly with Vanillas uneasiness. He listened to her speaking and nodded slowly,

"We should be off soon, I think we're almost to my vault."

Jacks sentence had barely finished as he saw a bit of light further down on the trolley tracks, and he tapped her on the knee, the shaking trolley making his taps scattered around her knee cap, and he pointed ahead, saying "We're almost there, dog. You can hold out."

As the light began to creep closer Jack was finally able to get a closer look around him. The Goblin looked unsettled now that they were nearing the light and about to get out of the pitch darkness. He turned his head to look at the woman who had the fortune of sitting next to Jack and his eyes scanned her face quickly, before looking back ahead, reclining slightly and rubbing his eyes tiredly.

Vanilla nodded at his words as they bumped and jolted along the tracks. Thinking that they weren't getting there fast enough.

"I think I'll walk the rest of the way to my own vault than continue on this death trap." She said then looked at the goblin. "Sorry." Her face went pink in embarrassment. She knew that there were a few goblin's here that thought it was funny to go faster than normal when she was on a trolley.

Seeing the light at ahead as he pointed that they were really almost there. "My name is Vanilla, that way you don't have to keep calling me dog." She said with a slight smirk on her face trying to think of something else.

The trolley stopped completely and Vanilla got out to take a few breaths. She looked over at the man whom she was sitting next to while they were headed down. The light was shining on him and she cocked her head to the side her brows furrowed. She thought she remembered him but her brain was coming up blank.

Jack stayed silent when Vanilla confessed that she was going to continue walking since the trolley was causing her too much nausea. He couldn't help but think that maybe he should tag along with her, if at any case, he would be keeping her company, since navigating Gringotts without the trolley was a bit of a burden to do alone.

Jack jumped out of the trolley, stretching backwards with his arms raised over his head, before making eye contact with the Goblin, and nodding, before saying, "We'll meet you at her Vault, yeah?" The Goblin seemed to sneer at Jack and Vanilla as he turned back to the controls of the trolley and it jolted to a start, creaking forward to make its way to her vault.

Jack turned around and faced his vault door, where he pulled a key out from his back pocket and shoved it into the Vault door, where an assortment of clicks echoed through the small chamber, before the door opened slowly.

"Nice to meet you, by the way, Vanilla. My name's Jack. Just lemme grab some money real quick from my vault and we can start heading to yours in a sec."

Nilla finally was able to find her breath and was breathing normally. She looked at the goblin who sneered at them and couldn't help but feel bad. She knew that the goblin didn't want to leave them to wander down to her vault with him.

"I'm sorry you shouldn't have to walk with down to my vault. I just don't like the trolleys when they are moving on the tracks." She said not wanting to be a burden to the man in front of her.

"It's nice to meet you too Jack. That's fine, I'm sorry if I'm a burden on you." She said softly looking at her feet not wanting cause any trouble.

If I Was a Rich Girl Empty Re: If I Was a Rich Girl

Jacks vault was rather small. It wasn't a lie to say that Jacks mom wasn't the richest of witches, but that certainly didn't mean that his ancestors lived off of scraps and cardboard. Jacks vault looked more like an empty closet, as he took a step in the cramped room and pulled a handful of golden coins into a cloth bag he basically materialized out of his pocket, and he tossed just enough money in there for him to get what he needed.

He turned around, nudging the vault door shut with his heel, and looked at Vanilla, his head tilted slightly, "Don't worry about it, dawg. The vaults here are trippy, you shouldn't walk down them alone unless you want to get lost."

Jack walked passed Vanilla and started heading down the narrow path that lead towards the other vaults, before turning back around and saying, "Just tell me when we get close to your vault alright?"

Nilla was trying not to laugh at him constantly calling her dawg. He seemed like a good guy trying to help someone who was deathly afraid of the trolleys. She looked around the place seeing lights in front of the vaults but no where else. She was just glad that she wasn't scared of darkness but it didn't help when you were on the trolleys they bring down on.

"It's not the vaults I'm concerned about though. It's more of the trolleys and how fast they fly down the tracks. I'm afraid I'll fall off one and then I'll end up falling down there." She said pointing to the pitch blackness of the area beneath the tracks. She shook her head and looked away trying to forget that mental image.

Vanilla walked behind him as they passed the vaults and then she said, "Here it is." Her vault was twelve vaults down from his. She took out her key and opened the door taking out some money. She looked over towards where there was a neatly stacked area filled with her "priceless objects" in her eyes. Turning on her heel she shut the door of the vault and smiled softly at Jack.

She then looked at the trolley and the very angry looking goblin sitting in the front. She swallowed as she looked and it and wondered why they decided to build those contraptions.
