Just An Average Day At Work

With the long daze of summer now over and Autumn emerging ambiguously, Jonathan was content to finally be back at Hogwarts. He was all the same about coming back to work over the weekend. He still could not believe he was accepted to work at the Hog's Head, especially with all that is rumored to go on around the shady inn. The young man could care less about any sketchy individuals, he was simply here to take and serve orders. Nothing more, nothing less. Yet he couldn't help but ponder on whether the rumors were actually true or not. It was confusing to him how anything weird could happen here when Hogwarts wasn't too far away.

"There is darkness lurking, even in the brightest of places," he muttered under his breath as he fixed his tie around his neck. He figured it would be wise to stay vigilant rather than meddle into anything that wasn't his business. Jonathan checked his watch. It was still late in the afternoon, and if he recalled clearly, he had invited his girlfriend to come by the inn. The place just happened to be a bit busier than usual at the moment, so for all he knew, Sierra could have slipped in without him noticing.  He glanced one last time over at the front entrance of the inn before wondering off to the bar area of the inn. Jonathan kept alert, his eyes wondering and scanning every inch of the area as he moved along. The young waiter approached a nearby table, greeting the customers with a friendly smile as began to eagerly take their order.

Sierra was happy when she recieved an invitation from her boyfriend, Jonathan, to come by his work. She loved visiting him when he was t work. She often brought him a little pick me up treat to get him through the day. So she stopped by Honeyduckes and grabbed him a chocolate frog and a sugar quil to brighten his day. When she walked into the Hogs Head, she sat at the bar and waited for him to finish with the cusotmers he was working with. When he turned around, she smiled and waved at him. "Hey there handsome." She had missed him alot lately. She had been so busy with school she had barely gotten to see him

As he left the table, the young lad caught a glimpse of his beloved girlfriend and gestured a wave followed by a small smile before hurry over towards the kitchen in the far back of the inn. He was thrilled to see her beautiful face again, and could help but flush a bit despite his efforts to remain professional. They had a bit of catching up to do and probably much more to discuss regarding the new year.

As swiftly as he had left, Jonathan returned momentarily back to the table, delivering a couple of drinks to the customers. He pulled on forced smile to his displeasure and continued catering to them until he was no longer needed. And by no longer need, it was the typical grump shooing him away as if he were no more than a rugged delinquent. Jonathan grumbled bitterly and with a roll of his eyes he made his way over to his dear Sierra. He was never exactly told when his break specifically was, so why not take it now while he still have a bit of patience?

He sat down at the bar stool beside her and laid his head down without much of a proper greeting. "I don't suppose you were expecting this to be a romantic setting, were you?" he asked in a defeated tone.

Sierra smiled and watched him go from table to table. She often came here to keep him in check while he worked. Made sure he didn’t break a bottle of fire whiskey over a person’s head if he got mad. She giggled at the image and waited. As she waited, the barkeep Thomas slid her a butter beer saying it was on the house. She smiled and sipped the sweet and frothy drink. She smiled even wider when Jonathon finally came over. She giggled at his words and shook her head, “Of course not, love. I know you are working. I just thought I would bring something to cheer you up. Besides myself, of course.” She smiled and put the sweets in his hand and kissed his cheek.

The boy lifted his head up and forced his lips into a weak smile. He looked down and was quite surprised to find sweets. Sierra had rewarded him chocolate frogs, his favorite treat, for his troubles. Jonathan leaned forward and placed a tender kiss upon her precious forehead.  "You're too kind, sweetheart," he said, unwrapping the treat hastily. He bit off the head of the frog as his cheeks flushed a soft pink with joy.

He made sure to finish eating the frog before he spoke up again. This time, there was a hint of nervousness in his tone. "Listen, um....." His eyes shift away, searching desperate for something to look at besides her. It wasn't because she was ugly or anything-- Sierra was the most beautiful girl he's ever had the courage to speak to. She was his anchor that always kept him balanced, but most of all, a precious person in his life. "I-I assumed that maybe you'd want to-- I mean, I don't know if it's your fancy or anything, but...." The boy struggled to find the right words to say; this was planned way better in his head compared to the current moment. Dammit, he had practiced this countless times in the mirror before work. Jonathan hesitated then focused a hard gaze upon Sierra. His heart raced, his palms drenched in sweat, his throat dry... He took a deep breath.

"Sierra, would you care to accompany me to the Yule Ball?"

Sierra smiled as he ate his treat. She knew chocolate frogs were his favorite. She smiled and bit her lip as he kissed her forehead. She reached for his hand and held it in her own. Having contact with him really helped calm her down when she was having a stressful day. She wasn’t stressed just then, but she knew he was.

She giggled as he tried to ask her something but his nerves were getting the best of him. She reached up and caressed his cheek and smiled, “What is it love?” When he asked her to the ball she smiled and nodded, “Of course I will Jonathon.” She smiled and stood on her tip toes and placed a soft kiss on his lips.

A thrilling sensation sparked within him as he felt her soft lips press gently against his own. Was this what pure satisfaction felt like? Perhaps he was just caught up in the moment. He grinned from ear to ear as he returned the kiss, then allowed a sigh of relief escape his mouth softly. "Danke," he muttered in his native tongue but he was quick to correct himself with haste. "I-I mean, Thank you. Thank you so much, Sierra. It really means a lot to me that you said yes-- not that I figured you say no or anything." He found himself stammering again and felt the urge to punch himself in the mouth. "I mean, unless you really don't want to go-- which is definitely fine. I was just curious since it was an occasional thing and all that you'd maybe wish to attend...."

Sierra giggled as he started rambling. She kissed him to get him to stop. She had started learning a bit of german so she was able to communicate with Jonathon in his native tongue. She decided to try it out. She took a deep breath and smiled. “Natürlich würde ich sagen, ja. Warum sollte ich das nicht sagen?” She giggled and smiled. “I think that means, Of course I would say yes. Why would I say no?” She smiled and kissed his neck and nuzzled him softly, “ I'm your girlfriend. I wouldn’t go to the dance with anyone else if not with you, love.”

Jonathan's eyes widened in astonishment. He certainly wasn't expecting her to say that. "Y-yes, that's correct," he assured her then chuckled. "I hadn't known you were studying German. What made you want to learn?" He was really quite curious as to why Sierra would want to pick up another language all of a sudden, but it did make him feel appreciated. To think on top of all the wizard studies she had to keep up with that she took it upon herself to learn his native tongue warmed his heart. "You know I always speak to you in English; to everyone as a matter of fact or else I wouldn't be attending Hogwarts."

Sierra smiled and held his hand. “I wanted to learn to surprise you. Its not perfect yet, but I am learning.” She smiled and kissed his nose. She would do anything for him. "I love you, Jonathon Rutger.” She smiled at his words and giggled. “I know you only speak english around me, but still. I wanted to do something special for you because you mean so much to me. I knew buying you something wasn’t special enough, so I decided on this instead.” She blushed and looked down at her shoes and bit her lip, looking back up at him. "You are my life."
