Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

I kinda of feel that I must explain somethings as I have a very important appointment coming up in the next month or so. When I first up and left PA with no notice I had just moved out on my own and was dealing with a very real and incurable autoimmune disease. In that, I felt I needed to take time away from things and start focusing on some important things, (like going back to school). Well having finished my second year I have just moved back in with a parent and am being sent to a research hospital to see a doctor who specializes in my disease.

While as excited as I am I'm also really scared. When I was told they were going to send me there I realized I had given up things that I had loved to help control this disease...Somethings that didn't really affect it in the slightest. This is why I came back. I remembered my RP family and I missed them. I missed having that connection with people that while I would never see them face to face, they would actually understand on some level.

Well anyway, because of this disease and being sent to a specialist if I up and do not show up on here for a few days it is because I have to get a second job for the summer to help try and pay for this doctor as my insurance doesn't really cover much of anything. Just wanted everyone to have a heads up and I hope they understand. (Also there will be somedays where I just feel like coming home and going straight to bed as being in constant pain really wears me down.)

We all want you to feel comfortable, especially when it can't be helped, so I'm sure everyone would agree when I say that you need to take as much time as you need to. I'm the sort that wants this place to feel like a second family as well, especially since I'm not really that close to mine.

I know we haven't talked much, but if you ever need someone to rant to, I'm told I'm a really good listener. People tend to come to me for advice without my realizing they think of me that way. So if you ever want to, I'd be more than happy to chat about anything and everything. And plotting, of course. Razz

Thanks Mairen, that actually means a lot. I got back into rp because its an escape for me from all the stress triggers in my life. I just hate that I might have to be pulled back from it.

I do understand some of what you're going through, and actually, I have a bit of a similar story, and its part of why PA is so important to me.

I've been a chronic pain patient for years and years. I am technically disabled and trying to work 7 days a week. Its not easy to live with chronic pain, I know. One of the things I do in my work in RL is teach people how to live with it without losing their quality of life.

Anyway, just saying I'm a bit of a kindred spirit when it comes to that, and I completely get it. I don't know that there's anything that I can do except to say that you're certainly not alone.

Its taken me a few years to learn I'm not alone. I'm trying to work as long as I can because the next step of my treatment is the one before they remove my bladder. I'm still learning how to live with the pain. I'm glad to know I'm not alone though!

I'll start off by saying that I'm always here if you need to talk. Much like yourself, I have chronic medical problems. I have a sizable handful of conditions, one of which has a large autoimmune component. I understand what it's like to go to doctor after doctor and find no relief. I also know what it's like to have no other option but to crash as soon as you get home some days. I have been known to occasionally disappear from PA for a short time, usually because of hospitalizations. If there are ever times you can't be on PA, I will understand- if nothing else.

Like Khaat, this is part of the reason why PA is important to me, as I use it as something of an escape. I haven't even been on here for a year and a half yet, but it has become a permanent fixture in my life, and feels like it has been forever.

I know there is little I can do for you, but I'm glad you're back to doing what you're passionate about. That's so important. I wish you the best.

@Khaat. What you do in RL is so important. Thank you, from all of us who struggle.

Thanks! I've been making jokes about it now that I actually talk about my illness about how I'm going to be a medical experiment! It took me a while to come to terms with it. I can't say I've been in the hospital too many times from it. But I can say the depression from it has placed me there. I'm just excited to have an escape again!
