If the world doesn't know the truth, then who will? Empty If the world doesn't know the truth, then who will?

Post by Katie Knight Thu Dec 26, 2013 5:12 am

It was finally Thursday, something Katie was ready for but was kind of dreading for some weird reason.  Katie knew the events that happened at the party were going around the school, and people were starting to ask who she had feelings for Cupid or Jeremy? Katie didn't even know if she had feeling for Cupid or not, but one thing for sure she didn't like Jeremy anymore.  Although alot of people told her that she did, even Becca told her she seen something that told her she did.  Although denying it, maybe Katie was starting to feel something towards Cupid other then just friends.

That was one of the main reason why she was dreading this Hogsmeade trip, she didn't want Cupid to think she liked Jeremy because she cried for the pass week over what happened at the party.  Cupid just didn't understand to where Becca understood how she was feeling on the inside.  But why was she avoiding Cupid for the pass week though, and the only person she would talk to was Becca?  Katie honestly didn't know, this so called thing called love was so confusing to her.  "Gr... stupid emotions!"Katie muttered to herself as she waited by the Entrance Hall for Cupid.

After waiting a hour for him, Katie looked at her watch and sighed to herself before hearing footsteps down the stairs.  Looking up she seen that it wasn't him and sighed.  "Maybe he forgot."Katie thought to herself.  With a sad look on her face, Katie headed down the sloping snowy lawns of Hogwarts as she seen the carriage the last carriage taking off towards Hogsmeade.  "Just my bloody luck!"said Katie to herself as she took off and started walking towards Hogsmeade.

As the coldness surrounded Katie, she shivered and wrapped her jacket closer to her as snow fallen from the gray grim sky.  Coldness, that was what Katie felt inside her, there was no warmness inside of her, all there was was coldness due to a broken heart  that Jeremy caused her.  Jeremy crushed her, he crushed every bit of her when he left her and all the sudden came back and kissed her, he didn't realize how much he crushed her with that one kiss.  After a few minutes, she finally reached the village with snow covering her and shivering half to death, but she didn't care pain was all she felt.  Walking up towards the counter she shivered.  "May I have a butterbeer please?"Katie asked as the bartender nodded and gotten her a butterbeer and handed it to her.  "Thankyou."said Katie as she paid him the money and took a drink of her butterbeer.

As she turned to find a seat in the pub she seen a couple of people whispering and muttering among themselves about her.  Holding back tears, Katie found a spot in the back of the pub and took her seat as tears started coming down her face.  No one knew what happened to her, but here they are judging her like they knew everything! "They don't a thing!"Katie muttered angrily through her tears.

He was going to be late. It was all Rebecca's fault, or he liked to think it was her fault. Really it was her friends fault. Writing to her that morning Becca discovered that her friends couldn't make it until forty minutes or so after their originally planned time.

Cupid had intended to write to Katie, telling her, but not knowing if she was at home or Hogwarts for Christmas the Slytherin couldn't determine whether she'd receive his letter. All he could hope was that she wouldn't be mad, that she would wait. How romantic. Expecting a girl to wait forty minutes for him without knowing why. He knew it could be tough and had prepared to apologise profusely for his tardiness. That's if he could find her. Katie had wanted him to meet inside Hogwarts, which was odd considering he was at home for Christmas, but if he couldn't find her in Hogsmede then he'd advance onto Hogwarts.

'Hurry up, Cupid!' Becca shouted from the kitchen. They were using the floo network to reach Hogsmede. Not that Cupid was pleased but owing to the fact that his Mother was working and his Grandmother didn't like to apparate in her age it was the only option.

Stepping into the open fireplace Becca grasped a handful of power, linked arms with Cupid then spoke the words: 'The Three Broomsticks' before dropping the floo powder onto the ground, letting it react with the ash and send them away in an explosion of emerald flames.

CRASH! The pair slide out from the chimney in the three broomsticks. The busy three broomsticks, as usual. A few warlocks chuckled as Cupid quickly glanced in a nearby mirror to check his hair and dust himself off, not that he cared. They were warty and withered. If they were his age they'd understand.

'I'll meet you back here at seven o clock.' Becca told Cupid, not paying him any true attention as her eyes had caught sight of two of her Quidditch Team friends who were leaving the pub.

'Bye.' Cupid muttered, finally finishing his hair. Now to find Katie. It made sense to check Honeydukes, the joke shop, the gardens of solace. There would be no need to check the Hogs Head, she wouldn't be there and Cupid wouldn't be seen dead in the run down building that claimed itself to be a pub.

Walking to the door, he stopped. Was that? Wow. It seemed Cupid wouldn't have to check Honeydukes after all. Katie was sat in the corner, teary-eyed and lonely.

'Katie?' Cupid asked, apprehensively. The Slytherin had thought the most challenging bit would be finding his friend, but now his nerves were tingling. He'd have to explain why he was late and already she was upset. Was she upset because of him? Had he let her down like that older boy had?

Cupid didn't know much about him besides the fact that Katie had been upset by him since the party. At least that's all Becca would tell him anyway. Hopefully they'd clear up the drama of the party. Guilt constructed Cupid. Whilst she'd been left in the corner, alone, crying, he'd been at the forefront of the attention. Center of the dancefloor, laughing and singing along to the music. At one point a group of seventh year Slytherin's even lifted him in the air and had him surf the crowd. That had been the highlight of his night. The attention. The feeling of greatness that he had always intended to command. For the first time the party had gave him real hope and made him realise being known, being great was exactly what he wanted to achieve in life. Already he had began to achieve it at school. Next: life.

'Sorry I'm late.' Cupid softly said, remaining stood by Katie's table. 'Can I sit with you?'

Katie looked up to see Cupid her eyes narrowed at him.  It was clear that she was upset with him, he was suppose to be friend but there he left her to become popular.  "Sure why not, but are you sure you rather not sit with your other friends Mr. all the sudden popular?"Katie asked him coldly.  Katie's eyes glared at him angrily before looking away.  She didn't want to be anywhere near him or Jeremy because she was so upset by them both.

Cupid didn't know what was going on around the school, he didn't know what they said about her.  Not that he really cared either, he was just like Jeremy was to her. She should of known not to trust anybody again, but her being so gullible she couldn't help it.  Katie guessed that it was no one fault but her own though, she trusted people to easily, it was one of her weaknesses. She wasn't going to trust anyone again until she knew them a hundred percent that was for sure, she didn't want to get hurt anymore then she already had.

Katie might of been raised with nothing but boys other then her mother, but she had emotions and feelings!  She wasn't bulletproof, and she wasn't made of stone, she can break and she can break easily.  That was probably why the guys protected her so well due to them knowing that she gotten hurt easily.

Seeing Kenneth walking in Katie shook her head at him Katie shook her head at him.  Giving him a 'I got this' look she seen Kenneth nod before walking back with the guys towards Honeydukes.  Kenneth must of put a tracking spell or something on her, for Katie only been here for a couple of minutes and here he was protecting her like she came here with him.

Letting out alittle cough Katie shrugged it off before taking another drink of her butterbeer.  Looking to see Cupid still standing there, her eyes narrowed at him.  "Well... are you going to sit or are you going to sit with your friends?" Katie asked as she nodded to a group of fifth years that wanted Cupid to sit with them.

"You better go, you don't want your fan club waiting!"said Katie giving him a sickly sweet smile.  Finishing her butterbeer she jumped off her seat and turned to Cupid and shook her head.  "See you around Cupid."said Katie walking pass him without looking at him or saying a word.

Katie didn't know where she was going to go, but she had to get away from everything!  Not looking where she was going, Katie crashed into a group of third years sending them crashing to the ground.  Without apologizing Katie kept on running to a unknown destination.  Losing her balance, Katie slipped and fell hard into the ice.

'Katie I'm sorry.' Cupid said, noticing the anger flickering in her eyes. So it was clear she was angry at him otherwise she would have waved a hand, waited for him to sit and then gone into a verbal frenzy about why she upset. Girls could be so complicated. Cupid had apologised what more did Katie want?

Turning his head he suddenly realised why Katie was so mad. It all came back to the party, when Cupid had gone off to make new friends, been at the centre of attention. It probably didn't help that Cupid's new friends were calling him over. The Slytherin hadn't mean't to leave Katie, Becca had told him to and even Katie had said to enjoy the party. Wasn't she leaving anyway? There hadn't been much point Cupid not enjoying himself when there had been nothing to upset him.

Reverting his attention back to Katie he blinked confusedly. Clearly she had said something and once again Cupid had missed it. Rising from her chair she barged past Cupid and stormed out of The Three Broomsticks.

Taking that as Katie's wish to be alone Cupid headed over to a group of party attendees and sat down.

'What was all that about?' Jake, a sixth year Slytherin asked.

'Nothing.' Cupid replied, his eyes staring at the door that Katie had left through. 'Nothing.'

Stepping out of Honeydukes with a brown paper bag filled with Christmas confectionary Becca spotted a family face on the floor. Katie? Hadn't Cupid come to meet up with her?

'You guys go on ahead, I'll catch up.' Becca told her teammates who pressed on through the light snowfall towards The Three Broomsticks.

'Katie.' Becca called, hurrying across the gravelled high street.  'Katie are you okay?' She asked, crouching down and holding a hand out for her fellow Ravenclaw. 'Here, I'll help you up.'

Taking Katie's hand Becca heaved her friend up, dusting off the ice that had frozen to her robes. 'Are you alright? I thought you were meeting Cupid?' The keeper asked noticing the tear tracks.

Katie shook her head. "My head hurts and I think I gotten a couple of cuts and bruises but other then that I'm ok."said Katie shrugging as if it wasn't nothing.  Letting out a little cough,  it was clear that Katie gotten sick due to walking to Hogsmeade.

When she asked if she was meeting Cupid she scowled.  "I was, before his new friends called him over." said Katie.  "I know he has new friends and I'm fine with that Becca but he never asked how I a was feeling after the party or anything! "said Katie.  "It's like after the party he completely changed!"said Katie sighing.  "So yeah, I'm doing fine and dandy!  But you know what I don't need him he just backstage me just like Jeremy did!"said Katie as tears came down her face.

"Becca I joined the Quidditch team, I'm the newest Chasers so my focus will be on that and my studies now."said Katie. "Is it ok if I hang with you and team?"Katie asked her softy.  "I just need to get away from here and get my mind off them."said Katie softly.  Katie wasn't going to worry about Cupid or Jeremy she was going to focus on Quizzing and her studies, and plus some other things she been doing.  It wasn't good,  and she knew it but it was her comfort now.

No one knew of what Katie been doing to herself since the party they had. She knew no would approve of what she was doing, but they managed to help her forget her pain and her sorrows. It helped her become stronger even if it hurts her by taking various potions and cutting herself. She did it to where no one seen her or heard her pain.

'Popularity is good at changing people.' Becca sighed. She herself has noticed a change in Cupid, however unlike the negative side Katie had witnessed Becca had noticed a more confident, fun, Cupid. Not that Cupid wasn't fun, he was, it was just sometimes his conquest to fame often brought him down a little. Popularity had changed him for both good and for bad. He was more positive, didn't get caught up on the slightest of things but it made him lose sight of what mattered more: friendship. You could have all the fame in the world but only a handful of people would know the real Cupid. Or at least they thought they knew him.

'That's great! I wondered why Featherpenny wasn't with us today.' Becca exclaimed. Pansy was the chaser whose position had been taken by Katie. Being a seventh year Pansy Featherpenny had changed her priorities, guiding them to the library. Becca couldn't blame her with the amount of hours in training the team were putting in. Besides the occasional duel with Cupid studying and quidditch were literally all Becca ever seemed to be doing.

'The rest have gone on to the Three Broomsticks.' Becca told Katie, coming to a hault ten feet to the door. 'But if you want to go somewhere else, where people wont stare, then I guess we can go for a walk?' By people she mean't her little Slytherin: Cupid.

"Yeah and it isn't for the better either!"said Katie darkly. Katie was happy for him though, but she just wished that he didn't forget about the one person who stood by his side even when he wanted nothing then what he has now fame. Katie was always by his side telling him that the day would come for him, little did she knew he was going to leave her when it did. Katie kept her promise to him that she wasn't going to leave him, but apparently he didn't keep his, but he didn't make any promise to her so like it mattered anyways.

Katie nodded. "Yeah... she wanted to test me out before she gave the position to me."said Katie simply. "I guess I met her standards, because she told me she was proud to give it to me."said Katie. "I know it's going to take alot to fill her shoes, but I'm willing to try!"said Katie. "Besides, I'll be doing nothing more then studying and praticing lately seeing how I lost Cupid."said Katie sighing.

Was there something wrong with Katie that people just didn't want to be her friend? She already lost two friends in the pass year, there had to be something wrong with her. Katie didn't know what it was, or what she was doing wrong, she thought she was very nice and sweet. Ok... maybe she was a bit honest and devious at times, but she only was that way due to being raised by nothing but boys.

Katie knew she was talking about Cupid, but she shrugged it off. "No it's ok, I don't mind if we go back in there besides I need to warm up again."said Katie letting out a little cough. "If my brother found out I walked here and gotten myself sick he'll kill me!"said Katie. "Come on lets go back in and sit with the team!"said Katie smiling at her.

Katie didn't need Cupid or Jeremy anymore, she was going to prove them that she didn't. Although the pain of losing them was hard at times, and Katie fallen into depression but she didn't let anyone see that part of her. She refused to let anyone see it, that's why she keeps it hidden so well. No one knew of Katie's secrets but her, they were dangerous secrets that she kept within her.

Pushing the door open to the Three Broomsticks Becca rolled her eyes. 'You haven't lost Cupid, Katie.' Sometimes people did over dramatise, not that Katie wasn't over exaggerating the situation, after all Cupid had been a bit of an ass to her but to think he was longer her friend? Now that was silly.

'He'll come around, just give him time.' Becca reassured Katie, holding open the door to let her friend into the pub.

The pub was heaving with customers. Cupid and a bunch of other Slytherin's were sat around a large round table laughing at a joke someone had just said. Becca could have sworn the odd Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff were amongst the giggling lot.

The wait staff were all on shift scurrying between tables placing food, clearing up dirty plates, refilling drinks, bringing more salt. One customer was even demanding that the waitress go to honeydukes and get some more sugar to pour onto his Garden Peas... What sort of person had sugar with their steak, chips and peas?

'There they are.' Becca exclaimed, pointing to a booth in in the corner where Katie had been previously sat. Taking her friends hard the keeper weaved through the crowd and reached the table.

'Hey guys I found Katie.'

From the corner of her blue eyes Becca noticed a familiar blonde heading towards the bar. 'Katie what do you want to drink, I'm heading up there?' The Ravenclaw asked. Even if Katie refused a drink Becca would be heading to the bar anyway, not because she parched but to have a word with her oh so sweet younger brother.

Katie shrugged off what Becca told her. "Sure feels like it Becca."said Katie softly. Katie nodded. "I hope so Becca, I sure hope so."said Katie following her into the pub. Walking into the pub, Katie's sad eyes looked at Cupid and his friends and sighed before she looked away.

Walking behind Katie she raised her eyebrows at the man wanting more sugar. "Wow..."Katie thought to herself shaking her head. Some people were just sugar freaks, just like Cupid was at times. "No! don't think of him Katie don't you dare!"Katie thought to herself.

Seeing her new fellow team mates she smiled and waved at them. "Hello, everyone once again!"said Katie smiling at them. "Your silly K.K your part of the team now, come sit with us!"said a fellow sixth year chaser. "Thanks!"said Katie as she took a seat chatting with her fellow team mates.

"A butterbeer would be fine Becca thanks!"said Katie before talking to her fellow team mates. Katie didn't know that she was going to talk to Cupid, to be honest she didn't care.

'Twelve Butterbeers, please.' Cupid asked the barman. 'And would you bring them to the table if you could.'

'Twelve butterbeers between you and Katie, dear brother?' Becca asked, an eyebrow raised and her head tilted to the side as she bluffed. Although satisfied she'd made her brother jumper Becca kept her feign-face on.

'Oh, I'm not with Katie, they're for-'

'I know you're not with Katie.' Becca interrupted, 'Because I found her on The floor outside.' Perhaps she had been too snappy judging the defensive look on Cupid's face. Thankfully for Cupid the barman asked for the payment (24 galleons), his eyes the size of dinner plates as his porky fingers quickly deposited the gold into the till.

'I take it Mum's paying for that?' Becca stated rhetorically. She knew that their Mother would be paying for it, but Becca couldn't talk as their Mum would be paying for Katie's butterbeer too. Coming from such a wealthy background mean't that the siblings never had to worry about much, they had whatever they wanted when they wanted. Christmas before last Becca had even received a custom styled firebolt, latest model too. In spite of that Becca could only summon the thought that Cupid was taking advantage of their wealth and using it as a booster to maintain his popularity.

'Whatever.' Cupid replied walking away from her.

'You should apologise.' That stopped him in his tracks, additionally bringing about a glum reply:

'I did, countless times she just won't, won't believe me.' Sighing he turned away to return to the popular table, greeted by a high five and two pats on the backs as the Slythein returned to his spot between an attractive Hufflepuff seventh year and a fellow Slytherin.

Shaking her head Becca ordered a butterbeer and a strawberry and lime mocktail. Even if she wasn't old enough for a cocktail in public she could enjoy a fruity beverage all the same, even  alcohol absent.

'Here you go, Katie.' Placing the chasers butterbeer before her.

Sipping her drink Becca listened to the team tell Katie all about their practice sessions, and the glorious feeling of holding the Quidditch Cup last year.

'So what's going on between you and Litherland's lil' bro?' One of the beaters asked, a grin on his face as he raised a butterbeer to his lips. 'Rumour has it you too got a little close after the party?'
