Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Daemon wasn't really known to be the type to spend his days in the library. However, he was looking for a particular book, and he was fairly sure that if anyone would have it, Flourish and Blotts would. The book in question was a history book about the Pureblood families. He wanted desperately to understand why his family was trying to make him like Raine D'Eath. There had to be some sort of tradition or reason behind it.

Dex felt, though, that he probably already knew the answer. Money and power were everything to people like his parents. Dark Followers and the like. For some reason, the question was just pulling at the back of his mind for days now and he needed a solid answer. Surely a book could give him that?

Pushing the door to Flourish and Blotts open, he scanned through the aisles looking for anything about Pureblood history. Finding an aisle that looked rather promising, he turned to walk between the stacks, bumping into someone. Finding himself taking a few steps back in surprise, he reached a hand out to try and catch the person he had run into.

Raina had always loved reading and when she found out about her magical status it gave way for a whole new world of books and new things to learn. She frequented Flourish and Blotts often and loved the smell when she walked in. Paper, wood, parchment, and old was her favorite combination. Old may seem weird to have in that liste but to Raina that meant history and she loved nothing more than the stories that some of these old books could tell.

Recently she had been very interested in the origin of magic. Who were the first witches and wizards? They of course would also be the first purebloods, but to her that didn’t matter. In Raina’s eyes they all held magic and hers was just as strong as the next pampered pureblood if not stronger. All the slytherins knew that even if they would never admit it.

Suddenly, there was another body colliding with hers and then she was falling…. for the umpteenth time that day. She saw the strangers outstretched hand, but it was too late and she was on the floor.

“Oh my god I’m so sorry” Raina said as she turned beet red.

Why did she have to be so clumsy? She looked over the boy standing over her for the first time. He was cute and he was in a bookstore. Why did she have to fall in front of the cute and possibly smart guys? Falling should be reserved for situations that wouldn’t completely mortify her.

Dex nearly frowned when he realized he had failed to catch the girl he'd run into. Kneeling down next to her he replied, "It's not your fault. I wasn't looking where I was going."

Glancing at the shelf to his left, he found that he was, indeed, in the right section. Grinning, he extended a hand towards her should she need help standing, before he did so himself. Now standing upright, he looked between the girl and the bookshelves, wondering where he could find the information he wanted. "What were you looking for?" He asked. Dex figured if he was going to spend his time in the shop looking he could at least help the person he'd knocked over.

Raina just laid there. He said words but none were comprehended. She did not do well when it came to talking to new people, especially guys. Then she realized he was holding his hand out so she took it and he helped her up. When he asked her what she was looking for her mind just went blank.

“Oh um nothing in particular” She mumbled. “I was uh…. just interested in um magic's founders.”

Why did she have to be so weird? Why couldn’t she just talk to a guy like a normal person? She just needed to say it. Just spit it out.

“So, whats your name?” she managed to choke out.

See that wasn’t so bad.

After helping her up, Dex noticed that she still seemed a bit frazzled. He supposed he would have been, too, if he hadn't been the one to run into her.

"Ah. The Original Purebloods?" He asked, running a hand over the spines of the books lightly. "Funnily enough, I'm looking for almost the same thing."

Daemon faced the bookshelves to read the titles more properly, wondering in the back of his mind if he looked funny with his head tilted enough to read them. She spoke again and he turned his head to look at her over his shoulder.

"I'm Daemon," He replied with a smile, "But some people call me Dex." It was a short version of his first middle name, but he didn't feel like getting into the mess of explaining that he had two middle names. Instead, he went back to looking at the covers as he asked, "Yours?"

She looked curiously at him. Who was this mysterious boy?

“Daemon,” She tested how it felt. “ My name is Raina and yes the original purebloods. I know that they sometimes have a bad rep, but they are the original founders of magic. I would love to know more about ancient magic.”

Raina quickly realized she was rambling and blushed. This was how she functioned though. Sometimes when she talked about something she just couldn’t stop talking and often lost peoples attention. It seemed as if Daemon was actually listening though. Well, she supposed that there were firsts for everything.

"Well, Raina," Daemon began, "Let's see what we can find here."

He began pulling out books here and there, passing a few to her before flicking through the one he was holding. What he really needed was family trees, he decided.

"If you find any extensive family trees, let me know." He requested after replacing the first book he had looked at. He wasn't even sure he would find such a book, but Daemon was pretty determined.

Raina couldn’t believe how nice Daemon was being to her. Maybe this could be a new friendship for her. She definitely hoped they stayed in touch. Maybe he went to Hogwarts. After all he looked about her age. She was so caught up in her own thoughts that she barely heard him ask about family trees. Why did he want to know about that? If it was his own family then shouldn’t they have one?

“Whats your interest in the family trees, Daemon?” She asked.

Raina really hoped that she wasn’t stepping on his toes. She tended to ask before thinking if something could possibly be a sensitive matter.

"Let's just say," Dex began as he replaced another unhelpful book, "my parents are shoving me at someone and I want a way around it."

If he could figure some reason to force them to stop inviting Raine over, he would do it. Surely there was something that could impede their attempts at making the two spend time together.

Shaking his head with a sigh, he flipped open another book and skimmed the pages. "Here!" He said finally, moving to stand next to her so she could read the page with him. "This chapter. It's called, 'The First Traces of Magic.' Is that sort of what you're going for?" He held the book out for her to take and examine.

She supposed it must have been some sort of arranged marriage. That wasn’t fair to push on someone ever, especially not someone so young. Raina believed that you could only be a kid, or in this case a teenager, once. That kind of commitment was crazy to expect from Daemon.

She shook the thought from her head and focused on Daemon again. The book he was holding was just what she wanted.

“Yes that’s perfect! Thank you so much Daemon. Would you mind some company helping you find your book? It’s the least I can do.” She said as she took the book from his hand.

Daemon seemed nice and since she didn’t make friends easily, Raina was excited to have run into him…literally.
