Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Vitamin D Empty Vitamin D

Post by Seoul Harvey Fri May 17, 2013 4:53 pm

Seoul was resting against a tree by the lake, tie by his side and top two buttons of his school shirt undone soaking in the warm rays of the spring sun. It was certainly getting warmer now with much less rain, this was the perfect time of the year. Every May since the first year he'd stepped foot in Hogwarts he had spent as much time as he could by the great lake basking in the lovely temperature that always promised not be too cold or too warm. He loved the way the spring sun danced reflections off the water and bathed the rejuvenating landscape in a flurry of gold.

Claire, his rat, was crawling around his outer thigh and climbing onto his knees, sniffing and squeaking at the grass, and making jerky movements when Seoul lifted an arm or repositioned himself without sufficient warning. He reached down and ran his finger along her spine and back up to her head niggling lightly at her delicate ear until she turned around and grabbed his finger with her paws in annoyance and sniffed it before going back along her merry way.

He sighed in content. Such a perfect day to be lounging around. The only thing that ruined it was the nagging guilt gnawing in his tummy that he was skipping transfigurations to be here. He just couldn't do it today, he couldn't put up with the Slytherins snickering and the gryffindors walking around with their chests puffed and at the ready to defend. Nope. He'd be okay, his academic record wouldn't go from awesome to fail because he skipped one day of class. Somehow that didn't really comfort him though. It wasn't like Seoul to skip class, he was a true Ravenclaw, intelligent, motivated and academically brilliant. He just hadn't been feeling himself today.

He rested his head against the tree and closed his eyes but made sure to keep his senses aware incase Claire should decide to leg it. The vitamin D was certainly doing him good though, he was feeling a little better already.

Vivianna was skipping class. It didn't happen often, but the teenager was tired damnit. She'd gotten a grand total of three hours of sleep the night before, meaning that there was no way she'd survive Transfiguration class that day. The Slytherin was intelligent, but there had always been something about that class that she could never quite grasp. She loathed the subject, and it was by far her worst class. Being as tired as she was, and having already taken more headache-draught than generally suggested, there was no way the redhead would enter that classroom.

It hadn't taken long to reach the grounds, having used a different door from the main one for pure convenience. It was a sunny day, and the witch threw her head back to absorb the warmth pouring down from the sky. Eyes scanning the area, Vivianna didn't catch a single glimpse of her cat, Strike. She hadn't seen her pet in a few days, but was far from worried, Strike could take care of himself and would show up eventually.

Heading towards her tree, because there was a plant on the grounds that the girl had long ago started considering her tree, the Slytherin noticed something. Someone was sitting at the base of her tree, simply basking in the sun. Approaching as silently as possible, the witch soon recognized the figure as Seoul Harvey, a Ravenclaw older than herself. The only reason that she was able to name him, was that Vivianna kept tabs on most everyone. All her year-mates, house-mates, and others whom might end up being interesting were efficiently catalogued into the young witch's mind. Seoul fell into that last category. The redhead tended to get along best with Ravenclaws, and considering that the male was around her age and quite attractive in her mind, made the decision to keep a vague eye on him easy enough. Oddly, she still didn't know much, the wizard was fairly unassuming from what she knew.

Approaching the tree, her tree, Vivianna stopped just a few feet from the Raven. Clearing her throat, she gestured towards the tree and asked, "do you mind?"

Seoul felt a shadow fall over his body and a shiver ran through his core in the way it did in spring when the sun held heat but the atmosphere didn't contain enough warmth yet to keep you from feeling the lingering chill of the cold that was passing. He felt a dull thrum of disappointment run through him as he realised with the sound of grass crushing under foot that the shadow wasn't simply from a cloud but from a person but he took care for his facial expressions not to change incase it was one of his friends, though somehow he doubted it as most of them tended to be a lot louder than him and probably would have shouted across the grounds to alert him to their incoming presence.

With a clearing of a female throat and a short punctuated sentence he realised that while this wasn't a complete stranger, it wasn't someone he knew well. He opened his clear green eyes and appraised his visitor, tilting his head to look up at her.

The sun burned behind her, the edges of her auburn hair caught like a halo of curled fire, the skin of her outstretched hand was all cream and silk. Her face was hard to make out against the contrast of the suns light but he knew her well. He'd noticed her in his most painful class, potions, he understood her to be one of the more gifted students. In fact it was hard not to notice her as one, not simply because of the teachers praise for her and the amount of points loudly bestowed to Slytherin as the result of which but because as a Ravenclaw, even without an ostentatious display that the Slytherin teachers were so well known for, Seoul could see a talented witch or wizard. And this girl, who's name he didn't know was one of those.

This made her interesting to him, more interesting than just a primal love for girls or enrapture with auburn hair, but an intrigue to talk with her and discover what she would have to say. It might be more difficult with a Slytherin to draw out a conversation but something was telling him she may not be the every day, typical, slippery snake.

He turned away and closed his eyes again returning to his same position, the image of her vibrance burning behind his eyelids.
"I don't," He said as Claire scrambled into his cupped hands in his lap and sat cleaning her face.
"Did you plant, grow and carve your name into this tree?" He asked with a smirk.

The Slytherin stood stalk-still as Seoul regarded her. Damn, he really was more attractive up close. It really wasn't fair, the teenager thought to herself, that there weren't any guys who looked like that in her own house. All the pretty ones practically always ended up as bookworms or bigoted Gryffindors. Then again, she shouldn't really complain. Vivianna didn't exactly have the time or energy for a boyfriend right now, so the lack of Slytherins that fit her type could be considered a good thing. Technically.

Seoul had closed his eyes before answering her, and the redhead figured that it was probably due to the brightness of the sun's rays. She focused her attention on the little rat sitting atop the male's lap, and wondering momentarily how exactly the creature managed to survive with all the cats around. Merlin knew her cat would be on top of that thing in a heartbeat if he ever saw it.

"Didn't plant it, no," Vivianna responded to the Ravenclaw's question, "but my initials are carved into it in at least five places, last I checked." It was a system she'd devised years ago, whenever the girl found a spot in a tree with a ridiculously good view, or that was incredibly comfortable, she'd carve her initials there. That way, the spot would be easier to find later. A large number of trees in the grounds held a little VV somewhere within it's branches.

Not bothering to wait for the wizard's reaction, the girl grabbed into branch right above her head with one hand, and placed one foot against the trunk. Bouncing twice with her other foot, the girl reached up to grab another limb with her spare hand, and pulled herself up into the tree. Shifting to the right slightly so that she was seated in a more comfortable spot, she turned to lean her back against the trunk. If this were any other day she would have gone much higher, but Seoul interested her. This way, they were still at a comfortable talking distance.
