What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Uncovering the Truth: Genocide of Dolphins

I took a trip over to Japan to meet up with a fellow journalist, whom has asked not to be named, a natural born citizen of Japan. While he was taking me to his home where he was offering me stay he stopped in front of a cove. And pointed it out to me. “That is why I called you,” was the only words he said to me on the ride there. Two muggle Japanese came up to car shoving cameras at the car and flipping off him off.

The next day when I was drinking tea did tell me what he meant. He informed of muggles and wizards alike slaughtering dolphins in that cove. I nearly spat out my tea. I knew the Japanese illegal hunted big whales but dolphins? What that legal? He told me it was. Muggle whale organizations didn’t cover them because they were ‘too small’ but they are still whales. I was appalled by this. I had no idea what was going on in the muggle whale organizations. He helped me looked as much as local as possible. To be honest I don’t think I would have noticed the difference.

So we walked down to the cove. We were greeted by men with cameras that have no sense of personal space. I personally wanted to shove them down on their arses or hex them but my friend kept from doing so saying I’d be arrested and I wouldn’t get the story. I watched the cove ignoring the men. I could see dolphins swimming in the cove captured by nets keeping them there. I knew the poor mammals would be dead soon. I could see blood in the water drifting from the more secluded part of the cove. I felt my stomach turn and my heart ached.

For those of you whom don’t know much about dolphins. They sea creatures that breathe air. The come up and breath air ever so often. They live in salt water and eat salt water fish. They live in warmer climates. The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean, Australia and Japan to name a few places. The Australians adore these animals. They are also much smarter than humans. Also one of the most curious and amazing animals I’ve ever met. Muggles have their aquariums where Dolphins are performing in shows. I went to one shortly after I left Japan. They seem like they are always happy but I learned from my experience in Japan they aren’t. The stress of all the noise and lifestyle of being in one of those shows kills them slowly. I didn’t finish watching the show. I got up and had to leave the show tears in my eyes. I went back afterwards and just barely touched the water, you’re not supposed to do this by the way, and a Dolphin came up and touched my hand with its nose. “I’m so sorry this had to happen to you,” were my only words to the Dolphin before I was shooed away. The Dolphin fallowed me until I reached the end of its exhibit. It watched me through the glass as I walked away. I don’t think I could ever go back to a place like that.

Back to what happened in Japan. After many nights of careful planning and surveillance we went out in the dead of night. We weren’t sure if there were any dolphins or not. When we first got there weren’t any. We camped out there, hiding from guards which wasn’t easy. We had to use the confungus charm a few times, I don’t condemn what I did but I was just trying to get a story you all need to know.
We waited until they captured the dolphins by herded by using ships with loud underwater sound waves to scare them into the cove. Captured by the nets we could only watch in horror. Muggle aquariums choose the ones they wanted then left. Those Dolphins would be sent all over the world. The horrors that happened to the ones that didn’t get choose will haunt me forever. I could only watch as these men killed the dolphins, adults or babies. I didn’t take any photographs though I could have, I just couldn’t bring myself to capture those deaths on camera.

I left the next morning and wrote this article to all you readers. You think you can’t do anything. A group of muggles and wizards stopped the whaling of big whales. Though Japan still breaks that law. I spent my first days back rolling back and forth in my bed. I found myself waking up in the middle of the night my dreams haunted by the dolphins. My boyfriend looked at me in the middle of the night and asked me what I was wrong. So I told him. He didn’t believe me at first until he looked it up online and found a muggle documentary on the cove. Don’t think you can’t do something about this. The power of change is with the people not with the government.

((This is based on something that really happens. Ten thousand dolphins are killed a year. If you really are interested in this subject look up the move ‘The Cove’. ))
