Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

The Pureblood Social Season! Li9olo10

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

The Pureblood Social Season

The Pureblood Season has, in past years, fallen out of the social lives of the aristocratic wizarding folk. As a result, for young Purebloods it has been increasingly difficult to find a suitable marriage and as a result, a handful of senior Purebloods and Ministry officials have petitioned the return and it opens this spring in the Ministry of Magic with a débutante ball!

Everyone knows how balls work but this is a slightly different affair. An additional board will be made within the Ministry - which will be known as 'The Ballroom' - and it is there that the main, mass thread will open the ball and there is an opportunity for everyone to drop off into smaller threads in order to not get lost within the larger one. However, there are to be no closed threads and everyone is encouraged to come and go in each thread as they like to make it a bit more interesting and more realistic!

The events will mostly consist of Purebloods - hence the name - but Half-Bloods are invited and no doubt there will be some Mudblood scallywags that'll drop in from time to time to try and ruin the fun! But as there aren't as many Muggleborns on PA, more or less every character will have an opportunity to get involved!

The ball will be opened at the Ministry of Magic by the Ministers and a handful of senior Ministry members and it will be an opportunity for débutantes and bachelors to mix in an effort to find themselves a good marriage and, most importantly, socialise. Which brings me to the dress code:

    Men
  • Black/Midnight Blue dress coat with silk facings.
  • Trousers of matching fabric.
  • White plain still-fronted cotton shirt.
  • White stiff wing collar.
  • White bow tie.
  • White low-cut waistcoat.
  • Oxford shoes.
  • Calla Lily attached to lapel – for bachelors.
  • Extras - Some sort of ornamentation advertising house sigil.

    Women
  • Ball Gown – floor length, of any colour.
  • Dancing Shoes – formal heels, sandals, flats or ballet slippers.
  • Jewellery – earrings and necklace, bracelets optional; watches not appropriate unless jewelled with face covered.
  • Gloves – optional, if worn should be opera Length.
  • Over wear - stole, cape or cloak.
  • Handbag – clutch bag or small style evening bag.
  • Tiaras – for married women only.
  • Extras – Fan.

    Débutantes
  • White Dress – floor length, modest neckline though low riding necklines are acceptable. Ivory or Eggshell dress colours also acceptable. Dresses should be shouldered.
  • Dancing Shoes – formal heels, sandals, flats or ballet slippers.
  • Jewellery – pearls required as well as earrings, bracelets optional.
  • Gloves – Opera Length.
  • Over wear – stole, cape or coat.
  • Extras – Fan, a broach advertising her house sigil.

That needs to be observed - otherwise there may be repercussions for your character.

The ball will open tomorrow and will last until this time (Thursday) next week. (:

Characters of all ages are welcome! Very Happy

I hope everyone gets involved! If there are any questions or I've forgotten to cover something - which, let's face it, is likely - then reply here and I'll get back to you as soon as possible!

Question : Say I wanted Miss Abercrombie there. She's fourteen, so she's not quite of age to be a debutante. I can't imagine her mother actually wanting her to be 'presented into society.' So, does that exclude her from debutante status? Or are all females that are present falling into that category?

Debutantes can range in ages because marriage agreements can too - they can just be betrothed as opposed to getting married straight away.

She's welcome to join as a Débutante but otherwise she can wear colour (woo) and follow the women's dress-code.

The females that aren't being presented solely as Débutantes or are married wear a little more colour but basically much of the same gear. They're more there for the social side and, in Wally's case, to be presented without further intentions. So she's, really, just an attendant as opposed to a Débutante.
