Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. My fathers will Empty My fathers will

Post by Thaorson Ian Elldir Sun Oct 21, 2012 7:54 pm

Thaor went about his daily routine, which was; wake up, make the bed, get dressed in this order, underwear (OOC(yes he sleeps naked)), socks, pants, shirt; brush his teeth; eat two eggs over easy, three strips of bacon, two sausage links, and 1/2 pound of hashbrowns; brush his teeth again, and go on his way.

Thaor apparated from his home in New York to the ministry in England. He entered the building through the guest entrance phone booth and walked to the security desk. Thaorson Ian Elldir, here to see the minister Thaor said, the witch at the security desk looked as though she had seen a ghost, but still gave him a pass and let him continue on to the lift going to Roberts office.

Thaor stepped out of the lift, and walked towards the Ministers office, upon entering, he spoke with the receiptionist. Hi, umm, I'm Thaorson Ian Elldir, I'm here to go over my fathers will with the Minister. Is he in? Ty asked.

Robert's secretary took a moment to reel in her surprise at seeing the clone of Thaor. She indicated he should take a seat and then she went into Robert's office.

"Minister?" she asked, as Robert sat, deeply engrossed in paperwork.

"Yes?" Robert asked, not looking up.

"There is a man here. Says he's Thaor Elldir's son. Says he's come about the will." Robert looked up at the words.

"Well, this ought to be interesting," Robert said.

"He..looks exactly like Mr. Elldir does..did...I mean..."

"I get it," he told her. "I believe I can handle it." He closed the folder on his desk. He opened a drawer and got out the folder that held the parchment of Thaor's will. "Show him in, please."

The secretary nodded and went out. She looked at the young man.

"Minister Lupin will see you now," she said to him.

Ty took a seat and waited for the secretary to tell him he can see the minister. When she did he stood and entered the ministers office. Minister, it's a pleasure to meet you. Although I wish it were under better circumstances. I am Thaorson Ian Elldir, I presume you know my father has passed away. Thaor said, slightly frowning.

He didn't know his father as well as he wished. But now, it seemed it was too late. I'm assuming that my father didn't have much, and I know he had a wand shop till it burnt down, I guess what I'm trying to say is, how much in debt was he? Ty asked, trying to get right to the point.

"I knew your father perhaps better than almost anyone else," Robert said, motioning him to sit down. "I knew he had a son but he never told me where you were. And, yes, I know you've come to straighten out his will. You obviously didn't know him well. I didn't agree with him all the time, but he was my friend.

"A couple of things you should know. Your father was not in debt. Not at all," Robert said. "And yes, he did leave you a bit of an inheritance. The will specified that I take care of his burial and memorial. Those duties have been taken care of, as best as they can be fulfilled at this date. Some things take time. His final expenses have all been taken care of. The remainder of the funds are secure in an account at Gringotts."

The young man in front of him didn't know Thaor from a doorknob. And he had every right to be bitter about that. Robert had no intention of burdening him with something as annoying as what a good man Thaor had been. Well, until the last year or so when Thaor's brain went sideways. Robert had no intention of telling Thaor's son much of anything about his father--unless he wanted to know. And then he would only tell him those things as when Robert saw the time was right for it.

Ty's eyebrows raised as Robert said he knew his father more than most people, that they were friends. A million questions flew through his head, Robert could tell him everything he wanted to know about his father. A single tear fell down Ty's cheeck as the one memory he had of his father played in his head.

All anyone has told me since my father passed away, are the good things he did. I however know, he did some not so good things. I want to know everything you can tell me. Thaor said, looking into Robert's eyes. As for the money, I live a very simple life, I wish to donate it to St Mungo's and Hogwarts. There can't be that much, can there? Thaor asked, not knowing exactly how much Thaor Sr had left when he died.

Robert paused to allow the young man to gather himself. He poured two mugs of tea. One for himself and one for Thaor's son. He handed on to him and then perched himself on the edge of the front of his desk.

"Your father did some very good things in his life. And some not so good things. As do we all," Robert said. "He was strongwilled and opinionated. And, for most of the time I knew him, I trusted him without question. And, most of the time, he'd have done the same for me. We met in school. It will take some time to cover it all, if you're determined to know it all.

"As for the money, there's more there than you think. You need to not make that decision in haste. There was not a lot in actual assets or personal property. Your father didn't keep much of anything like that. But cash? Yeah. He had cash."

I've got all the time in the world, Minister. My daughter is with friends in America for the time being. Thaor said, taking the mug and taking a sip. As for the money, I will only keep enough to support myself, and my daughter. The rest will be donated, at least his money went to good causes. Ty said, taking another sip.

Ty shifted and reached into his jacket pocket, pulling out his red cigarette case, and lit one up. Sorry, is it okay if I smoke in here? Nervous habbit. He said, putting the cigarette back out.

"Unfortunately, I don't have all the time in the world," Robert sighed. "I do have some time, but its not unlimited." When the younger man lit his cigarette, Robert ignored it. It didn't matter to him.

"Your father and I were on completely different pages with political views. He was a supporter of the dark arts. I, however, am not. Your father was a purist. He believed in the importance of pureblood supremacy. Personally I think thats nothing but horsecrap. In the end it was his prejudice that undid him. And it was the biggest strain in our friendship. There were very few things that turned out to be more important than that to him.

"I don't know exactly when that turned so sharply for him. Maybe in the last year or so. It used to be that he was, beyond all else, loyal to those he cared about. But that hasn't been so true lately. I'm not sure I knew at all who he's been the last few months, as sad as that is to say. He suspected he was becoming ill. And I think he was right because wherever his mind went, I couldn't reach him. Not like before."

Thaor re-lit his cigarette and began to puff away. Not like before, that intrigued Ty. Not like before, what do you mean by that? Ty said, crossing his legs. Robert seemed to be his best bet at learning the most about his father that he could. Although, from the sounds of things, he wasn't sure if he'd like what he learns or not.

Do you truly believe he was sick? There are rumors about that he caused the fire in Diagon Ally. What can you tell me about that? Thaor asked, taking one last drag of his cigarette before it went out.

Thaor was a bit...well, quirky at times," Robert said, with a very slight smile. "But it made him a lot of fun. Most of the time. He understood me like very few other people have, and I think the reverse was true. He sometimes had to make very difficult choices to survive, sometimes some very dark choices, and he knew how to survive better than anyone else I've ever met. But those dark times made him moody from time to time. I could usually reason with him. I could usually bring him out of those dark thoughts and get him to rethink.

"And yeah, I do think he was sick. He wasn't himself. He valued friendship and family above everything else. But at the end, he attempted to kill me once. And, yes, I do believe, from the facts of the fire itself that he set it to kidnap my daughter and hand deliver her to the Death Eaters. The Thaor I knew would have rather died than to do that. Ever. He'd have given his life to protect me and my family. There were scores of dead bodies in Diagon Alley, and they didn't die from the fire. They got out of the bistro alive. Someone killed them with an avada kedavra spell. Thaor would have done all he knew how to save lives."
