Back to work

This was something that he'd never thought would happen to him. Usually once you left a job, you never went back. Or at least that's what Jake thought. But he'd been proved wrong. He stood outside of the Ministry of Magic, staring up at it, waiting to enter; to go back to his old job as a Beast Specialist there. He really just couldn't believe that he'd been offered the job again. But mostly he couldn't believe that he'd actually taken it again.

Especially because he had his job at Hogwarts now. But to be completely honest, he missed being there in the Department of Magical Creatures. Even though he'd been in a different department for a while, working with Magical Creatures were like his calling. Being an Auror had been fun, yeah, but he really just liked being here. He went down to the department and entered his old cubicle. When he asked for it, he thought it would've been taken by someone else, but apparently he'd been wrong. It was still the way he'd left it, when he left the department, empty.

He inhaled deeply and sat down in the chair that was in there. Even though he was just starting again, he already had a pile of papers waiting for him. He blinked a couple of times, caught a bit by surprise. He hadn't been expecting to see so many papers there. He leaned back in the chair and stared at the papers, not wanting to start on them just yet.

Selene held a card in her hands nervously, looking around at the cubicles. She knew most of them by heart, who was in what one, and what kind of research they did. This one however... the man who was in this one was actually a professor at Hogwarts. He had just taken this job again, and he was arriving today to start up his old job again. He would definitely be needing the help of an assistant today, more then ever. So once Selene was finished with her new, smaller duties as a secretary, she rushed over to his cubicle and found him just sitting down in it.

Selene took a deep breath, and walked forward. "'ello.. My name eez Selene Brun.. And I 'ave been told by Jack Dyllan zat I am to intern under you.. I do not know much about all zat you do, but I know ze department well, as I worked as a secretary 'ere up until zis point.." She smiled at him carefully, and then held out the card that she had been given. "I can 'elp you with any paperwork you may 'ave or anything else zat you zink you need today, for zat eez our first job eez eet not? To get you settled.. I do work as secretary for part of ze day... but I will be 'ere as often as I can be." she smiled at him.

The card she held out, simply had her information on it, her area of study, and the times she would be working with him. She honestly hoped her accent wouldn't get in the way too seriously badly, she had a very strong, French accent, but it was understandable, and she just.. had the air of a french woman. She had gone to Beauxbatons for most of her life, until she had transfered to Hogwarts after the Tri-Wizard Tournament. She had long blonde hair, and was wearing simple dress robes, they almost looked a bit worn, like she had had them for a while, and it was obvious from the state of them that she didn't have the most money in the world, but she wasn't too terribly lacking.

Staring at the paperwork in front of him for the time he'd been staring at it began to make him dizzy. There's were spots that appeared everytime he blinked or moved his gaze somewhere else. He found himself smiling at the spots though, even though they often annoyed him. He rubbed his eyes quickly before looking up at the girl who appeared at the cubicle. He smileda t her as she introduced herself. "Hello Selene. I'm Jake Collins." he told her.

He blinked a couple of times when she told him that Jack Dyllan, the head of the department, had told her that she was to intern under him. Subconsciously, he raised an eyebrow. So ... he was getting an intern now? Well, that was neat, he supposed. Especially now that he didn't know what was going on in the department much. Quite a few things seemed to have changed since he left, and now he'd need all the help he could get just to get settled back into the routine he'd had before.

Jake nodded after she finished speaking, and took the card she was holding out to him. He took a moment to read what was written on it, and he looked back up at her, smiling. He could tell that she was French from her accent, but he also knew that she had gone to Hogwarts for a while too. If he wasn't mistaken, she'd graduated last year, just as he had.
