Moaning and Groaning

The sun was hidden by clouds and there was nothing to really do outside today. It had been pouring since before the sixteen year old Hufflepuff Kayla Brians woke up. So she was now just wandering around the second floor of the castle when she stumbled upon a door she had never seen before. She didn’t spend must time on the Second floor. There wasn’t much to do there. “Wonder what’s in here…” she said her voice trailing off as she pushed the door open and stepped inside. “Oh it’s just a lavatory. Obviously a girls.” She looked around “OH!!! I’ve heard of this place… It’s the one haunted by the ghost umm Moaning Myrtle!”
Before leaving the common room this morning at six o’clock Kayla had found a pair of short jean shorts a bright yellow smiley face tank top and her favorite pair of boots. She had also decided to wear feather earrings a watch ring a batman necklace and a bright yellow belt to match her shirt. She had even painted her nails in black and gold with Hufflepuff stuff on them. “HEY MOANING MYRTEL WHERE ARE YOU?” She called looking into the stalls.

"What the bloody hell has gotten into you today?!" the small snake on his shoulder hissed at the kitten that ran down the corridor next to their master. "Shut up, Ritual. I didn't do anything to you so leave me alone." the kitten sneered back at the snake. Athena had been very irritable the entire day for some reason unknown to him. Usually the fifteen year old boy would be able to tell what was wrong with the kitten, but today she wouldn't even talk to him unless it was absolutely necessary.

"Both of you calm down. Ritual leave Athena alone, she's probably just having a bad day." Jayden told Ritual softly. The snake sighed and curled up further on his shoulder. "Where are we going, anyways Jayden?" Ritual asked. "To the Out of Order Girl's Bathroom." Jayden whispered. Athena's ears shot up and she hissed at Jayden softly. "Why would you want to go there? It's a girl's bathroom." she huffed at him. "Because Moaning Myrtle is there. I want to see her." he responded, with a goofy smile that always made Athena's anger and discomfort go down.

The three of them stood in front of the door to the bathroom and Athena sat next to Jayden, her tail whipping from side to side. "I think it's a bad idea." the kitten meowed softly. "Nonsense, don't listen to her Jayden. Let's go in." Ritual said and Jayden nodded. He pushed the door open a bit and peeked inside. He didn't see anyone. "Looks like the coast is clear." he whispered, and he stepped in. As soon as he entered and his view was expanded though, he saw a girl that was probably older than him, and he ducked behind the bathroom stalls to avoid being seen by her.

“OH MYRTEL,” Kayla called again, “Come out Come out where ever you are!” when the ghost didn’t appear the Hufflepuff girl turned around to see a person with dark hair disappear as if they were hiding. They definitely were not Myrtle. “Well hello there mysterious dark haired person,” Kayla said smiling at the spot where they had disappeared. “I’m not going to bite. You don’t have to hide.” She shook her head and rolled her eyes with a little giggle. “Do you know how to make Myrtle come out? I’ve been trying to several minutes now and I’m kind of getting board. I think I heard that she like to hide in the u-bend of the toilets.” She started to babble as she tried to get the person to stop hiding.

Jayden closed his eyes in frustration when he heard the girl call out. It had to be to him, since he was the only person in there besides her. She told him to cone out, but Jayden found his feet planted on the floor and he wouldn't move. Athena sat next to him, and stared up at him, licking her paw. "She's only a girl. It's not like it's Voldemort who is in here with you." Ritual stated. Jayden sighed and nodded at Ritual.

He took a step out from behind the stalls, followed by Athena. The kitten walked closer to the girl and sniffed the air around her. When she asked about knowing how to get Myrtle out of hiding, he nodded at her. "She usually hides in that stall there. Open the door and she'll probably end up shooting out of the toilet because she was disturbed." he told the girl. "Moaning Myrtle will probably freak out at you though." he added.

“Well hello there kitty,” Kayla said kneeling down and holding her hand out to the cat. “You’re such a pretty kitty.” She looked up at the boy. “Is she yours and that scaly thing on your next too?” she said the last part and a shiver ran down her spine. She didn’t really like snakes. When he answered her question and pointed to a stall Kayla glances over at her shoulder. Standing she walked over to the stall and pushed to door open “Oh Myrtle, I wish to be your friend so will you please come out of there?” she called into the toilet.

"Yeah, she's mine. Her name's Athena." Jayden told the girl. He glanced toward his shoulder to see Ritual and he smiled. "Yeah, this is Ritual." he said. Ritual lifted her head up and looked at the girl. "She looks stupid." Ritual said simply and Jayden frowned at her. "Ritual, that's not nice to say." he told the little snake and she lowered her head again, bored with everyone. Jayden watched the girl look into the stall where Myrtle usually was. Nothing happened when she asked Myrtle to come out, so Jayden assumed that the ghost girl was off elsewhere. "She must not be here." he said softly.

“Well then today has already turned out to be more boring than it started out to be,” Kayla said walking away from the stall back over to the kitten. “Athena is a pretty name for such a pretty Kitty.” She said reaching out to pet the cat. “Wait did you just talk to your snake?” she said her head snapping up so that she could narrow her eyes at him. She knew it was possible but she had never known anyone who could actually do so. “You’re a Pastletunge? Or whatever?” she completely pronounced it wrong but even she a half-blood that was raised in the life of a muggle because of her ‘father’ knew about Lord Voldamort and Harry Potter. They both could talk to snakes. There was a special name for it but she wasn’t sure how to say it.

"Parseltongue." he corrected the girl and shook his head. "And no, I'm not a Parseltongue, or at least I think I'm not." he put his hand on his cheek as he thought about that. But he quickly shook his head again. "Anyways, I'm just able to speak to all animals, that's all." he told her. Jayden glanced down at Athena who had her ears flat against her head as the girl pet her. That was new, Athena didn't usually like strangers, but she seemed to like this girl as if she wasn't a stranger at all. "That's odd. Athena is never like that with strangers." the boy whispered to Ritual, who merely stared at Athena's sudden affection for the girl.

“Yeah parseltongue whatever,” Kayla said, “Aw you like that don’t you?” She talked to the kitty as she petted her. “Feels good don’t it?” she giggled at the kitten, until she heard the whispering. “What do you mean by that? Normally cats don’t like me… so you’re right this is odd but I love cats! They are so cute!” she scratched the cats chin and sat on the floor crossing her legs completely absorbed in petting the cat. It would keep her occupied for at least another few minutes before she got bored. Then she would need another distraction just like a little kid.

"I mean exactly that." Hayden responded. "Athena doesn't usually like strangers. Shes been acting weird all day. And she wont tell me what's wrong." he sighed and looked down at Athena. The white kitten purred as Kayla petted her and Hayden sighed again. Hayden stared at the girl as she continued to pet his kitten, and she looked do happy about it. "My name is Kayden by the way." he told her. "Jayden Volkov." he smiled at her. He had a feeling Athena was going to be around her a lot, but he didn't get why.
