The First Encounter

"Guys, wait up!" exclaimed Allen as he rushed to meet up with his only group of friends.

He didn't really want to consider them his friends, seeing as how they got him in trouble before, yet he really didn't have anyone else to talk to in Hogwarts. He had stuck with that group of friends since first year, and Allen could already tell they were sick of him. It was annoying to say the least, because Allen dispised them as well, yet never really had the courage to leave them. He wasn't exactly Mr. Socially Awesome Penguin. In fact, he was the complete opposite.

"Guys, come on!" he exclaimed again, but they had managed to avoid him.

Feeling defeated, Allen went and sat down at one of the benches, by himself, looking through the long parches of hair that covered his face. His hair looked somewhat oily today, even though he had bathed, but his clothes looked rather clean. He groaned and wiped his bangs out of his face, his hand covered a little bit in sweat. He hadn't chased his friends, but he certainly had to jog a little.

"Christ," he muttered to himself bitterly "why did I even come to this school?"

Rhys was jogging, as normal. It was a nice enough day to do so, it was a bit rainy, but she had been through worse, much, much worse. Rhys had her jogging clothes on, short spandex shorts, a tank top, and her hair was pulled back into a high pony tail. She was taking the good days of weather left, and jogging outside. She always hated jogging inside during the winter, and so she loved being outside. But she was getting tired, she had been jogging a while, and suddenly she was exhausted, she slowed to a walk, and saw a bench not far from there.

It wasn't for a long moment, until she realized there was a person already sitting there. She sat down, bringing her bottle to her lips. "Sorry.." She said slowly, gasping for breath. "I just.. needed to sit.. and... the bench... don't mind me." She said gasping for breath as she guzzled water from her bottle, before she filled it again with her wand and looked at him. "I'm Rhys." She said pronouncing it Rice, and sticking her hand out to shake his. "Just jogging outside before it gets to cold ya know?" She said shivering and rubbing her legs. She was hot, and covered in sweat, but her legs were getting cold from the sweat drying on her body.

Allen looked to his right and saw a girl sit next to him, which made him freeze up a bit. It was only a couple seconds after not meeting up with his other friends and he already made a new one! Wait, wait, wait, a girl just sat next to him, it didn't mean they were already friends! But if she sat next to HIM, then it had to mean SOMETHING! He instantly evaporated these thoughts, knowing they would get him nowhere.

"Um...don't worry about it," Allen said, looking at the ground and wiping some small sweat still "and nice to meet you...Rice."

Now who in the world would name their daughter Rice? he thought to himself in wonder It might be spelt differently, but if it IS spelt R-I-C-E, that would just be weird.

"I'm Allen," Allen said in a casual tone "Allen Tobias." Tobias sounding like Toe-Bi-Us.

Rhys laughed and smiled at the boy. "Nice to meet you Allen Toe-Bi-Us." she said grinning at him. "I'm exhausted, but I need my jog today." She said laughing and flicking her hair over her shoulder more, and grinned at him. "So what are you doing? Running as well?" She asked, seeing the sweat on his brow. "It's a little warm today isn't it? You don't exactly looked dressed the part. "She said picking at the shoulder of her red tank top. "So what house you in huh?" she asked learning towards him, and then grinned. "I'm a Gryffindor! Fourth year!" She laughed and looked at him.

"Allen.. Allen, I swear I've seen you before... Are you in Gryffindor?" She grinned at him then leaned back against the bench farther, shivering hard and trying to warm herself up, she stood up and started to jog in place.

Allen listened to the girl, noticing that she got his last name down. Most people thought his last name was weird, and he honestly couldn't think of why. Most others had more weird names and yet became very successful. "You could say that..." he said in an awkward way, wondering if she had seen him chase down his other friends. Well those weren't his friends anymore at least. He hated having to be like that. "But I guess you could say I'm meeting some friends."

He was somewhat surprised when she said that he was a gryffindor. "Yeah, I am," he smiled to her standing up now and brushing off some lint. "Surprising how we've never really seen each other before. Seeing as how we're same grade and house."

Rhys couldn't help but smile at him. "Yeah, odd isn't it? You'd think we would have noticed each other in some class or other up until now eh?" She asked laughing but shrugging it off. "I'm not observant, so you'll have to excuse me." She smiled at him and jogged up and down, trying to bring heat back to her limbs. "Sorry.. I'm freezing, and I just can't stay still..." She said smiling at him. "So you're off meeting friends.. this early in the morning? Really? I don't normally see people out this early." she laughed and flicked her wand at her bottle of water again, it filled and she held it out for him. "ice cold, filtered even." she said smirking. "Took forever to get it to stay like that.. I used to get muddy water all the time.. but don't worry! It's clean now!" She laughed and jogged in place, still holding out the water for him.

Allen hadn't really realized how early it had been in the morning, yet he thought it didn't matter. You had to wake up early anyway, so why not have some extra free time? And Allen really hadn't noticed the cold, surprising to say seeing as where he was born. In the summer, Arizona would always hit the 100 degrees or so. But the cold or heat never bothered him that much.

"I guess you can say that I was trying to meet with friends," he replied "I figure they are away now, so I got some free time."

He looked at the water bottle and blinked once. He figured one drink wouldn't hurt him. He grabbed the bottle and toke a small quick, feeling his muscles already heal. He handed back the water to Rhys and smiled.

"Thanks," he replied in a kind voice "so are you always jogging this early? Seeing as how it's almost winter now, it'd be like suicide, or something along those lines."

Rhys kicked her knees up in the air, warming up her muscles. "Oh yeah.. I jog everyday.. when it starts to snow I go inside though.. to much work, not enough outcome.. I want to stay in shape, I don't want to die, right now it's fine, just chilly when I sit down for to long, but it's fine." she said and bent over, touching her toes, and wrapping her arms around her knees for a long moment, stretching it out for a moment, her butt sticking straight up in the air. "I can't let my body just... give up during school. "She said with a smirk. "I mean.. they feed us plenty, and I'm not about to get fat... so I jog every morning." She laughed.

"I think this might be the last day I jog though, it's pretty nice outside still, but it'll get cold fast, and I don't want to catch a cold." She laughed and took a swig of her water, before slowing her pace and smiling at him. "So you're meeting new friends? Well I'm a new friend, count me in dude." She said with a grin as she slowed her jog until she was merely walking in place, and then she stopped all together, bending back over to stretch, her butt up in the air, and then she stood up and put her arms over her head, bending one back, and grabbing her elbow as she stretched her upper arm, and then switched to stretch the other one. "Mm.. I'm exhausted." she said with a short, almost wheezy laugh.

Allen couldn't tell why, but he felt as if she were a bit obsessed with not wanting to die. She mentioned that she jogged everyday because she didn't want to...die? That seemed to be a vague concept of why she wanted to. Staying in shape was one thing, but dying? He wouldn't bother to ask. He looked away when she began to stretch, not wanting to feel indecent in front of his new friend. Well at least that's what she said anyway. "Well I meant I was wanting to meet up with my old friends," he said in an awkward tone "but they think it's time for me to move on. So here I am."

He continued with her, looking away again when started to stretch, for the same reason. "Well I'd jog everyday, but I really just don't feel like jogging in the winter. And you catch more colds staying inside than outside. Helpful trivia." Allen looked towards the entrance of Hogwarts once again, wondering if this could be a new change. For the better. "Well anyway, when does winter begin anyway? I'm not good with seasons."

Rhys couldn't help but giggle when he averted his gaze as she stretched. How kind of him to do that! But she had to tease him some, she just had to see his face, she wasn't actually coming onto him, she just needed some entertainment, so of course what does she do? She turns around facing away from him and 'realized her show was untied'. Bending I've Rhys stood with her butt facing straight towards the boy as she spoke, forcing his attention to her.

"what do you mean time to move on? That's not very nice is it!? I mean... If they are friends at all they would love to be your friend!" her little speech was given from bent nearly in half her butt to him her eyes concentrating on fixing her loose shoelace. "Don't worry about them okay? I'll be your friend now! What do you say?" she asked turnin and grinning at him, watching his face for a reaction towards her rather lewd displY of he butt, helped she was wearing short spandex shorts eh?
