And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Lesson 8 - N.E.W.T. Level Empty Lesson 8 - N.E.W.T. Level

Post by James William Wilson Sat May 21, 2011 12:13 pm

Wilson entered his classroom. It was empty, for now, but soon... his students will arrive, thinking they can do what they want, as it is with the majority of them. He had finally begun with teaching some relevant subjects, meaning he had finished with those boring and stressing introductory classes. He waved his hand, and text appeared on the board, with the usual not to copy it down. As soon as they were all present, he would start with the class.

Lesson 8 - N.E.W.T. Level Empty Re: Lesson 8 - N.E.W.T. Level

Post by Elijah Krum Sat May 21, 2011 2:06 pm

Again, Elijah found himself waking up with the same need for the nicotine he was denying himself. Again, Elijah woke in a foul mood because of it. He found that caffeine was easier to stomach without the cigarettes but that was only because coffee was addictive too. As soon as he realised that, he returned to tea as his morning staple drink. At least the tea wasn’t nearly as foul. Well, after he dumped a whole pot of sugar into the cup. Breakfast had always been a quiet affair for Elijah who enjoyed his sleep far more than he’d care to admit. It took a long time to shed the feeling of total rest and knowing that it was a long time before he could slip into bed again, Elijah hardly found himself in the best of moods. That was why breakfast was so important really wasn’t it? Elijah didn’t care to admit how much he agreed with the people that had decided how important breakfast was.

Upon leaving the Great Hall that morning, Elijah made a quick trip down to the dungeons to retrieve his bag and some of his books. He tucked the Defence against the Dark Arts tome under his arm and left the dungeons soon after getting what he needed. He didn’t forget to say hello to some of the students doing homework in the common room. It didn’t take long for Elijah to get up to where the classrooms were. He took care to make sure no one was trampled or the like. Everyone seemed rather delicate since the death of Sage. House rivalries had been put on hold. Everyone seemed to be in some sort of trance, as if they couldn’t quite gather themselves up and deal with what had happened. Elijah knew he felt the same.

Opening the door of the classroom, Elijah found he was the first one there. He bit his lip and looked around, finding the Professor at the front of the class. He offered the Professor a smile and walked down the aisle between desks, deciding to take a seat in the middle row. Elijah put his book down on the table and dropped his bag underneath it. With that, he took a seat and waited in silence for the other students to file in through the door. Thankfully, he didn’t have long to wait.

Lesson 8 - N.E.W.T. Level Empty Re: Lesson 8 - N.E.W.T. Level

Post by Athena Marianne Goyle Sat May 21, 2011 2:44 pm

The morning had been spent just like any other morning. Athena had risen early and spent the hours she had before her peers got up, perfecting her appearance. She was especially careful today. She had heard about the death of that unfortunate Hufflepuff and although she didn’t care, Athena couldn’t help but notice how everyone else had been affected. She, however, remained stoic as ever and seemed to harbour a special disdain for the Hufflepuffs who were mourning the loss of their classmate. It was the perfect time to harass them and Athena had already taken advantage of their grief. Today though, Athena could have cared less. In fact, she didn’t care at all, that was what made it so brilliant. She just went about her day as per usual. She was, however, surprised to find Slytherins already up and about when she got downstairs, though. It was as if everyone apart from the girls in her dorm knew the merits of punctuality and early rising.

Athena didn’t have breakfast in the hall. She instead remained in the common room. Brew brought her some breakfast for her and she spent that slot of time reading and nibbling on a piece of toast. Finally, the time she had to herself ran out and she rose from her feet. She picked up her bag and left the dungeons behind a group of fourth years who were talking about the new Witch Weekly edition. Athena didn’t enjoy that trollop as much some of the girls in Hogwarts did. She didn’t go out of the way to buy it but occasionally she’d indulge if there were some half decent cosmetic spells inside. Usually though, there weren’t so Athena didn’t bother.

It didn’t take long for Athena to get up to the DADA classroom. The door had been left open so she stepped over the threshold and into the room itself. She spotted Elijah sitting down and she decided to join him. She didn’t greet the Professor as he had probably done. She saw no need to do so. Instead she merely took her seat and opened her book on Harpies she took her bookmark from the crease between the pages and continued to read from the paragraph she’d left on.

Lesson 8 - N.E.W.T. Level Empty Re: Lesson 8 - N.E.W.T. Level

Post by Freyja Podmore Sat May 21, 2011 3:46 pm

Everyone was still so sensitive after the death of that Hufflepuff girl, Sage was her name? Some students were still moarning her death while others tried to move on with their lives. Yumi was one of those who was planning to move on like nothing ever happened, even though she had the girl present in the back of her mind. There were more students crying over this than over anything else before. As she walked to class all she saw were girl and boys alike crying, some of them didn't even know who the girl was, they were just crying because someone had died. Yumi was surprisingly calm during all this, and some students thought that was very strange.

She even skipped breakfast that morning. She hadn't felt like eating much for a while now, she didn't know why and she really didn't care. She entered the class quickly and saw that Elijah and Athena were already there. She walked toward the middle of the room saying, "Good morning, Professor." as she passed by him. She sat down in the row in front of Elijah and Athena, saying nothing to either of them.

Lesson 8 - N.E.W.T. Level Empty Re: Lesson 8 - N.E.W.T. Level

Post by Derek Selk Sat May 21, 2011 5:16 pm

Larko exited the Great Hall after eating with some of his friends. That morning, Larko hadn't done anything to his looks except put on clothes and cologne and walk out, as he didn't have any reason to make himself look nice. Just not smell. Walking with his bag on one shoulder, he headed up the steps. That poor girl... he began to think, but then stopped himself. No! Don't think about it! Just suck it up, you big baby! He was mentally shouting at himself because he didn't want to look sad. Hell, he was a seventh year. He needed to be strong for the younger kids.

Walking into the DADA classroom, he dropped his bag next to a desk next to Yumi without even looking at her and he said nothing to anyone. She was just in one of the front seats. Like most, he didn't know much about her and liked keeping it that way. Leaning back in his seat, he started copying the things on the board into his notebook which he had propped up against the desk.

OOC: okay Yumi, I figured we could start our rivalry here! Very Happy Oh and this was excepted in my charrie profile but I can't find where to apply for the class itself since the threads locked.

Lesson 8 - N.E.W.T. Level Empty Re: Lesson 8 - N.E.W.T. Level

Post by James Wake Mon May 23, 2011 12:38 pm

James Wake entered the class, not really anticipating anything out of the ordinary. After the previous class, he had practiced everything the teacher had taught them, and frankly, wandless magic was disappointingly easy to foil. Luckily, he would not truly require wandless magic in a practical setting. A wizard fit in mind and body... such wizards were the most advantaged in the world of knives of lint.

James set up on a table towards the middle of the room, setting about his quill to copy the words on the board and store the notes away. He also took out his notebook, a daily planner of sorts. Perhaps now was a good time to plan out the rest of the day. Let's see..
First on the list, taking care of detentions and ensuring the proper points were deducted from the night before. He had to make that a habit, after someone took an additional five points by accident.

As James worked, he paid little mind to everyone else but the professor. They were also students, and James saw little need to interact.

Post by Jaquellene Jack Dyllan Tue May 24, 2011 11:22 pm

Jack walked into Defense Against the Dark Arts Class, not exactly late, but getting close. For her, however, it was quite early, and she still needed some form of entertainment. She had been so busy, so stretched lately, between Potter's Army, end of they year preparations, doing homework, and attending Order of the Phoenix meetings... It was time she relaxed...

She glanced around the room, checking to see of Ari had arrived, but it did not appear so. She had stopped caring if people noticed they were close friends, so she had not worked too hard to hide it. He wasn't, but she did spot a familiar figure sitting in the middle of the room, someone she had not had the pleasure to irritate in a while.

With a smirk, she hitched up her bag up and strode over to James Wake, pulling out the chair next to him and plopping down in it, feigning an energy she really did not have. "Hpwdy," she greeted him, beginning to pull everything she would need out of her bag. "And how is my friend this sunny day?"

"I believe that i requested you to refrain from referring to me as your 'friend'," James Wake replied to the all-too-familiar Seventh year girl that had been bothering him since he began to attend the school. James Wake did not know what to think of Jaquellene Dyllan. At times she was a loudmouth, bordering along the line that differentiates the prat from the obnoxious. Other times, she was overtly weakened from mental scars and stress. James promised himself never to properly pry into her life's events... unless she pried into his own.

Naturally, Jack Dyllan would be nonplussed. This was the reaction she would likely get the most fun out of. James made a mental note to try smiling sometime- perhaps it would be that shocking of an event.
James scratched that thought. It would only further indulge the girl.

"Oh, but James, you know I find you irresistible!" she whispered desperately, allowing her eyes to dart around as though she were frightened someone might overhear her. She was not sure where this spirit of the joke was coming from currently, because she definitely did not feel it. She felt like she wanted to put on an ugly sweater and hide.

But the mighty Jack Dyllan did not hide. She attacked, she cracked jokes, she acted insane and drew attention to herself, and she annoyed the rule followers, like James Wake. She leaned back in her chair and yawned widely. "How you been, chum?"

Louis walked in, other things on his mind. He had been thinking about other. He put a candy in his mouth and sat down on his seat. He had been thinking about the other day. The only people Louis recognized were Jack, James, and Elijah. He had taken his seat.

"Hey Jack." Louis said. Having his wand in his pocket in case it would be needed. "Hey James." He said seeing Jack had been talking to James. He looked around, seeing some other kids he had seen in the hall. He knew some of them would have to be dark followers. He had remembered the other night at the grounds and then Xem's freaking out at the Gryffindor Common room.
