What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Hello PA - you need GIF images.

I have been trying to upload a GIF avatar in every possible way I could think of, but when it comes down to it, I think it is a setting on the Administrative panel. Would any of the Gods of PA be interested in taking a look for me?

The portraits that hung on the walls of Hogwards did move, after all…

I've used static gif images before on PA so it's probably not that.

the file size cannot be higher than 64 KB

If you're trying to upload a tv or cinematic style gif, it's probably larger than 64 KB. Try uploading to an image-hosting site and entering the url into your avatar area instead of uploading directly to the site.

Also, please bear in mind that not everyone on PA has broadband, so the more animated images there are on the site, the slower the site will load for those people.

PS, are you aware that David Tennent played Barty Crouch Jr in Goblet of Fire? Just in case you were looking for a non-HP play-by, he has been in the series.

After reading the "error" message that I received when I attempted to uplaod the GIF straight from my computer, I instantly went to an image-hosting website, but had no luck this way either. If my memory hasn't failed me, I believe I have uploaded a GIF image here not too long ago, and this was the reason I decided it must be a site setting.

PS, are you aware that David Tennent played Barty Crouch Jr in Goblet of Fire? Just in case you were looking for a non-HP play-by, he has been in the series.

Yes, I am aware -in fact, I quite enjoyed his performance- however, we do have a few canon-noncanon hybrids running around the board, and therefore, I decided that Tennant's short stay on the HP set was not enough to prevent me from assigning him to my new character.

I just went and checked over at my forum, and gifs are definitely allowed. There's no option to turn them off.

Hey Red. Back from the living dead I see. Where've you been?
Anyway, I know that Selwyn's pretty much already said this, but it's not a site setting, and .gif s are allowed, I'd say it's something to do with the .gif itself or your technology itself.

Of course the internet could just be broken *Shrugs*

Perhaps try and upload a different .gif which is smaller and see if it'll work?

Hello Jess. Where have I been? At the risk of sounding over-dramatic, I have been to hell and back, but that is a conversation for a different section of this forum, is it not? OH, but I brought back a souvenir *drags Vito along behind her by his ear*.

It wouldn't surprise me if my computer is the problem- it is not the image itself; I have tried quite a few others. I suppose I will simply have to go without. Oh, what a pity...
