Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

You're Invited... To A Mystery Plot! Empty You're Invited... To A Mystery Plot!

Hi PA!

First off, before I get into my official statement, I want you guys to know. The admin team is always seeking ideas. Don't wait for discussion threads to give us your ideas! We want to hear them, no matter how small, no matter your status. We are here as RPers as well, and if you have ideas, we eat them up. So before I get into my real reason for being here, I want to tell you that we want (some of us THRIVE on) your ideas.

Now, we have our idea for our next plot hammered out, and this was not just an admin idea. We talked with a few members that we believe have their best interests on the site, people a lot of you have RPed with. And we have begun a foundation for a great plot, a plot that everyone can be involved in, a plot that can cause the following: propaganda, cover ups, torture, safety, Dumbledore angst, disguises, grey areas, and the questions of good vs evil.

Now, this plot is just starting. Possibly already, a future villain has entered into the ranks of PA. But is s/he a villain? Harsh tactics, yes, but they also shed light on the the factions. Is it possible the Order is not as innocent as it seems? And what about muggleborns? What will be happening to them? Are they safe? Everyone else seems to be, and if it costs us a few muggleborns... Well, safety always needs sacrifices.

Okay, so I know there are a few of you who have realized we are not coming out and saying "This is what happens." That is because we want to offer you an opportunity. This site is about RPing. RPing delves into creativity, writing, and delving into human characteristics and thinking. For so long it has been good and bad, black and white. Now imagine your character having no idea what is good and what is bad... How will their relationships change, how will they grow as a person?

This is what we are doing. If any of you are extremely worried at this point, feel free to send me a PM. We are going to finish up the plot ideas and get more info out to you. Our hopes are that we can release it bit by bit, so where it goes is not up to us, but up to PA as a whole. This is our chance to do something not as a team of admins, not as a group of factions, but as a site...

*wipes tear*

Anyway. Like I said, if you have any real problems, post them here or send me a PM. The admins really do care about your opinions. And, as a member not an admin, I love RPing with each and every one of you, talking to you in the cbox, etc. And I love your characters. I can't speak for anyone else, but I find my thoughts dwell on people's characters, were they've come, how they've grown. and this is what we're encouraging. So like I said, post here, PM if you have more personal questions, and we'll be glad to help where we can. The plot will be revealed bit by it if you guys have enough interest and trust in us to continue. We do not want to put anyone out or make anyone uncomfortable.

And of course, questions about it will be encouraged. But I can't say we can answer all of it. Part of this idea of the plot is to let you, as a member, have fun watching you character deal with a situation they don't know all sides too. Of course, all parts of the plot should be revealed as we go.

So, let the comments come!

Hmm well for me this plot seems so far so good, but it also seems like it could easily move to the wrong direction. This is a very peculier plot to me,I'd love to see what unfolds out of it.But I have to say I am a bit nervous it won't work. But I hope it does Smile

I understand. Xem, it is vague and does take a leap of trust for you guys to be okay with it. And the whole point of this post is to see if you guys are willing to take that leap. This style of doing it is to ensure a richer, better plot for everyone. If it comes down to it, we can go back to the old-fashioned detail a plot and cross our fingers and hope it works. We would not be doing it this way if we did not think it was the best approach.

The thing about this plot, is "wrong direction" is really not a bad thing. The entire motivation of the plot is characters trying to understand right and wrong. Unless you mean wrong as in the plot fails. And this is part of the reason we're doing it this way. Typically, plots motivated by good and bad fail if they are strictly detailed because people just pick the side that is going to win.

Make sense? I believe that was what you were confused about, right?

well sorta,maybe,I dunno

Well since no one knows who's right and who's wrong this plot could branch off to sooo many different directions.Who knows what could happen, that's why this plot is so risky but I'm willing to take that risk Smile

That's what our point is. It's a way for your character to reevaluate themselves. For us to observe that there may be the possibility that good and bad come in different forms.

We understand the risks, and the plot will be done in such a way that there is not utter chaos. We will be asking members to step up into certain roles, letting people adapt ideas to go with the plot as it goes along, things like that. We're trying to encourage creativity. And I'm glad to see your willing to risk it. It means a lot. I do want to assure you that it is not a crazy amount we're planning. We're not going to blind sight you guys with a plot. We hope to just do it in a way that makes it a constantly evolving thing, not something that has to be done a certain way.

Ok, look guys. I'm sure the admins have good plot. But the one thing they need right now is affirmation that you are aware of this. I personally think it would be a good idea if everybody at least replied to this thread, just to show that you have read it and whether or not you would care to dive further into the rabbit hole.

Just reply with any concerns you have, or even if you have questions. Can't say they'll answer them all thought- it would suck to ruin a good plot for everyone.

Anyways, just affirm that you were here and that you read it. That's all.

It'll also be a slow thing, we wanna have a snowball effect, for whatever it is we're planning, so a lot of the discoveries of this plot might be made IC, so you should all keep your eyes and ears open. If you figure something out, maybe give hints, but don't tell other people exactly what's going on, discovering something for yourself is often the most fun part of things like this Wink

Sorry to double post, however.
FYI: The plot has already begun Smile Keep your eyes and ears open and see if you can figure it out.
If you have an inkling as to what's going on, share it with 1 or 2 friends, but keep it to yourself mostly Wink
And PM me too, I'd love to see if anyone gets it right, haha
