Class Seven - N.E.W.T.

Another day, another class. Professor McCoy had replaced professor Emof, who had work in the Ministry, not a long time ago. He liked teaching, especially Transfiguration. He had done some teaching jobs before, but Transfiguration was always his favorite. He wrote his name on the blackboard and sat on his desk, waiting for the students to arrive. He also waved his hand and wrote the title of today's lesson - Conjuration and Gamp's Laws.

Arthur entered the classroom, taking his usual seat in the front row. He looked at the topic of today's class. He liked conjuration, one of the more interesting branches of transfiguration. ''Good morning, professor.'', he greeted McCoy with a smile.

Suzannah walked into the Transfiguration classroom, on time for the day's class. She smiled to the Professor and greeted him "Good morning Professor McCoy" She said brightly. She noticed Arthur in the classroom, but completely ignored him, not wanting to get involved in another argument with him. He always annoyed her, whether he meant to or not, she just completely disliked him. She walked over to a desk and took a seat, waiting for class to begin.

Alester slipped into the room like a shadow he enjoyed Transfiguration, and was certain the classwork would be a good diversion. He saw the same boy from Charms class and Suzannah. He took his usual seat near one edge with an unusual grin. He wasn't the friendly sort, yet he felt that he might be making friends with some of the students... certain ones in particular. He had little interest in relationships save where they gained him power. His alliance with the Vampire Ne'Os was along that line; although he was not certain where that would lead him or what it entailed. But power for its own sake was empty, and power for the sake of what you could do with it was always fulfilling. Take today's lesson Gamp's Law and elemental transfiguration. He knew five exceptions; but wondered if he would have a chance to list any... knowing limitations was to know the power a thing possessed...

He dropped his bag to the floor and pulled out The Fool card, if they were conjuring this was his stand by. The Fool, the representation of having whatever you needed already there just waiting to be called forth... He began to go over the exceptions in his head as he waited for class to start.

Mariana was messing with her long red hair for a fair bit while she was climbing towards the classroom looking at some people with scanning sharp eyes which looked like they were going to slice them by one look like Medusa made people become a stone with one single look in the Greek Mythology. She finally walked into the classroom few minutes later carrying overly big self-confidence which wasn't like her even her from before. "Morning Professor. Hi Arty." she said as she walked inside sitting down next to Arthur still having "i'll slice you.." expression from the hall though she didn't pay attention to it.

Belle was in no hurry to get to class, she knew for once she was far from being late. So she strolled through the hallway her robes open to reveal her as always Gothic and slightly sexy choice of dress. Half her hair was up piled on top of her head in a bunch of loops while the rest fell down her bangs hanging on either side of her face. Her six-inch heels clicked on the floor as she walked, she loved the sound for some odd reason and she was wonder why to herself when she reached the class doors.

She walked in with a hello and wave of her hand to the Professor and went and plopped next to Mari. Her over all attitude and air was one of none caring, as she was not in the mood to do so today. To be honest she was slipping into a darker part of herself she had never known existed.

"Hey Mari."

''Good morning to you all. I presume you are all fine today. Miss Diggory.'', he said, greeting Mariana with a smile. ''Now, since you have been extremely active and present on my last classes, you will know what we have done. Now, today's topic is Conjuration and Gamp's Laws. I would need one student to tell me what Conjuration is, one to give me an example and one to tell me something about Gamp's Laws. Any volunteers?'', he asked.

Mariana rememberd listening to this class cloudy in her mind trying to remember what the Professor was saying. " It creates gold or transfigures items into gold. Five exceptions are food, love, life, and information and money.." she said trying to remember it in word though it was too hard since she never really payed attention to these classes untill McCoy started to teach. "Can't remember anything else.." she said shrugging her shoulders. This much was sufficent considering how poor was she at this subject.

''Miss Diggory, partially correct. Gamp's Laws are a set of laws of wizarding physics which states what powers magic has to create or destroy matter. Love, food, life-death and gold are some of the exceptions. But, why is that important? Gamp's Laws, named after Hesper Gamp, a great witch, are important for today's class because they will give us an insight on how conjuration works. We can conjure and create anything except these before mentioned things. Conjuration is extremely complex and it requires both skill and mental strength. Since this is our first class dealing with transfiguration, today's task is to conjure something simple... a piece of cheese and a simple mouse-trap. They seem to have problems with mice down in the kitchen. I offered my help, but you will also do your share of helping the diligent elves down in the kitchen. Lovely creatures. Now, a simple piece of cheese and a simple mousetrap. It is not a problem, I hope. You can begin.'', McCoy said.

Arthur took his wand out. This was not a complex task, since he had done more complex conjurations before. He moved the books in his desk and then pointed his wand at an empty spot on the desk. He concentrated on Gouda and flicked his wand. A small, cube-like, piece of cheese appeared on his desk. Good! He then concentrated on a mousetrap. Flicking his wand, he managed to conjure a simple mousetrap, just as the professor had wanted. He took the piece of cheese and put it into the trap. ''I am done, professor.'', he said.
