The Cuase

Dae waited in his office for Khatt Dent to arrive he needed to see more about her. He sensed from the trial that she was more then just Jess’s dog. Dae wanted to more then just her thinking but all of the orders feeling towards the ministry why this disliked them so. Jess just had a grudge and he was using the death eater infiltration as an excuse to take out his revenge. In truth it was the fact that Mari could always forgive Dae for what ever he did and she never gave the same courtesy to Jess. The door was wide open waiting for her he hoped she would be all business about it.

Khaat had come at the request of Dae Diggory. She didn't know what she was up to, but she was not going to give him any advantage if she could help it. She had purposely dressed in a sharp black dress, nice tall stilettos, and her full black cloak. She arrived exactly on time. She found the door open and knocked on the doorjamb, acutely aware that the last time she'd been here, she'd seen Gabrielle. This was going to be very different. "You asked to see me, Mr. Diggory?" she asked.

Khatt didn’t understand that Dae was more than the rumored hard ass power hungry man people talked about. In fact right now Dae wanted no more power he hardly had the appetite for the power he had after all the ministry and Hogwarts both were a tall order. “Yes I understand you had coffe in this office while I was gone. I hoped that we could keep up the tradition but with Tea. You see I just got a large order of my favorite Tea in. I can’t finish it alone, and I realized I have never had a conversation with Mrs. Lupin, oops I mean Dent. Please take a seat” dae said in a pleasant tone that did not sound forced for the simple reason that it was not forced.

"Very well," Khaat said. She took a seat, feeling a bit mixed, both perplexed and interested at why he called her. In the course of events, she didn't see herself as having much power or being very useful to him, but it was, at least interesting. "You're right. I did have coffee here last. Tea would be nice, thank you. So tell me. How can I help you today? I don't sense this is just to have a tea companion. Something is on your mind."

She was smart, but of course if she did not catch that this was about more than Tea then she really would have been a mindless puppet of jess. Dae nodded to the teapot as to give it the go ahead to pour the Tea. Dae enchanted his whole office everything with-in it, and with that the full tea cups floated over to the two. “Well mrs. Dent I know the truth about you, and a vigilante group. I don’t really care about your involvement at this moment. I want to know why you would want to be a part of that group, you can get everything done that you want done within the ministry can’t you?”

"Hardly," Khaat sighed. "I want honestly--pure and utter honesty. You have to remember I'm a Lupin through and through. I was raised by Remus Lupin. I carry his values and ideas. I continue his fight forward. I don't know that's what he intended, but its what I chose. I don't see that happening in the ministry unless some serious housecleaning is done. Come on, let us not fool each other. This organization has been corrupt for generations. What I want is a peaceful existance for my daughters. I want them to have what I didn't have. I want them to go to Hogwarts with a kind and gentle headmaster. None of those things are happening right now. And to further be honest, my family was one of the founding families of the Order. Why on earth should I want to stray from that?"

Dae listened and indeed it was the propaganda that spewed like a waterfall from Jess Potters mouth. “Mrs. Dent you are fooling yourself on two fronts. One you presume that this is the same Ministry it has always been; nay you think this the same ministry from a year ago. You have given me less than a year to fix the mistake of decades. Have you heard the theory it takes four years for a government’s action to come full circle, so why is it I am denied the right to fix things. The second problem is that you think you are in the same order, what is Jess’s proof that I am an evil man or that this is an evil ministry. Jess Potter is exactly what he calls me power Hungry, when did Albus ever try to claim the ministry? He never did and he never wanted to. He wanted to deal with the ministry like everyday people do, sure there were times when they pissed him off, but he didn’t react in a volatile manner like Jess is purposing. In fact the only thing I have done in regards to the order is pardon them for their vigilante like actions which are still crimes. I offered every order members jobs in the ministry so that they can do things the right way, and make the order not a problem that ministry as to worry about. Instead they will be a work force, and leaders to help the greater good. In the public they can be real heroes like the Muggle Neal Armstrong, and not masked crusaders.”

She paused, taking a sip of her tea before speaking quietly, "You are a very interesting man, Mr. Diggory. Very well, I'll tell you at least one of the things you seem to want to know. I am not a puppet for Jess Potter or for anyone else for that matter. I make my own decisions. I join the causes that make sense to me, and I leave behind things that seem to be asinine, regardless of who the commander is. If it falls within what I believe in, chances are good I'll back it in some way or another. If not, well, then, they're on their own. And, honestly, what is important to me right now is my home, my marriage, and my children. I am not interested in being at odds with you or anybody else. I have more important things on my plate at the moment."

Dae followed suit and took a sip of his tea because he was feeling a bit cotton-mouthed after his spur of the moment monologue. Dae felt that he may be rushed into his points, making this into a lecture instead of a conversation like it was meant to be. “Why thank you, but I do hear those comments a lot. Now tell me Mrs. Dent what is the easiest and most peaceful way to make the world a better place for your girls? How is it that someone goes about changing a law, or altering the rules and staff at Hogwarts? Let me answer for you it’s through the government that you do those things. You are Chief Warlock it is simpler for you than anyone else. Those things that are important to them you can take care of right now. I probably concur with you values at Hogwarts and about family, so I will agree with whatever it is you want, I am sure of it. Jess will be too busy trying to eradicate evil that he becomes it.”

"You would be correct--IF--and that is a huge if--if the Ministry of Magic were more honest that it was corrupt. However, that is not currently the case. And as for my position as Chief Warlock, you know that for years no minister had been fearless enough to trust that the Chief Warlock of the Wizengamot would carry out the duties given to them in the manner the minister wanted, so it has been merely a puppet for the Minister for years. Most of the ministers could not be trusted any further than we could have spit you all. If you truly do have the power you say you do, then make some changes. Clean it up. And trust me to do my job to run a trial as fairly as I know how given the evidence that is presented. I know you will be there because you have no reason to trust me either. That's fine. I have nothing to hide, but I would ask that you not follow in the footsteps of your predicessors and try to make me a puppet for your bidding. Deal with me fairly and honestly with me, and I shall treat you the same way. If you question that, ask Mr. Majere. He knows I do my best to be constantly forthright with him even though we sometimes share very different views on things."
