Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Wanderer Empty Wanderer

Post by Baldric Pierson Sun Dec 20, 2009 4:38 am

Robert was walking the streets of London early on a Saturday morning. He had his plastic cup of coffee in hand and his hair was still unruly from sleep or lack thereof. Robert, however, was completely alert. He'd had breakfast and was now just wandering about London as if the world was truly at his fingertips which it was in a sense.

Rob stopped outside a bookshop and wandered inside, thankful it was one of the ones that had a coffee shop inside. Robert looked around for about ten minutes, perusing the shelves in search for something to read over the Holiday Season.

Unfortunately though, he left with some novels about a naive teenager who falls in love with a vampire for his niece who was in love with the films and demanded that he buy the books for her - along with every other member of the Whitlock family.

From there, Robert continued to walk the streets; content in just relaxing and not having to worry about Death Eaters, the Wizarding World and all of the like. As much as he loved the world he was born into he couldn't help but marvel at how well Muggles got on without magic. Sure they blew each other up once in a while but it was all proof of their genius

Isidora made her way down the streets of London. A look of utter disgust on her face as she did so. She didn't even know why she was there. Normally she would never enter the muggle world unless it was absolutely necessary, like when she took her children to King's Cross to see them off to school. Now, however, she found herself walking among them, as if there was nothing wrong with them.

She wondered about herself and why she was there. She hated muggles with a passion; their fear of her kind, their eagerness to destroy them. For Isidora, her hate of muggles came, not because her parents had hated them, not because they had no magic but because they would hate her. She sighed and stopped in front of a shop window and examined herself in the reflection. She smiled at her impeccable appearance; as always, dressed in the curve-hugging fashion of a decade past with a frock and gloves. She smirked at herself as she pushed lock of black hair from her face.

Isidora sighed as her eyes shifter their focus from the reflection to the flickering screen in the store window. She searched her mind for what it was called- a television, if she remembered correctly. Though, she couldn't be sure since such words rarely came up in conversation. What did it matter what the thing was called? It wasn't like she was going to talk about it or anything. A slight frown crossed her lips as she once again wondered why she was there. She had been bored at home. Alone. Again. Perhaps the days of being alone were getting to her, driving her mad. Perhaps she was just trying to strike out at her husband for ignoring her the way he had. Well, whatever the reason, she was there and that was that.

Robert halted outside the books shop and his eyes locked onto a familiar figure walking down the street opposite his own. Isidora Lestrange. What the hell would a Lestrange be doing in Muggle London for goodness sake? The thing that slightly worried Robert was that she seemed to have honest intentions. He should have really known better than to judge someone by their family or their ancestors mistakes - he didn't do that with the Malfoy family so what was different about the Lestranges.

They're balmy, that's what’s different. A little voice that Rob hadn't heard from in a while decided to speak and he wondered if the good old angel that had been pushed off his shoulder had gone on holiday. However, Robert continued to ignore this little voice and somehow found himself crossing the road, weaving between the cars that had stopped in front of the lights.

Robert walked onto the parallel pavement and came to a stop in front of Isidora, blocking her from continuing walking.

"Mrs Lestrange may I ask what you're doing in Muggle London?" he asked with a smirk.

Isidora was still in thought as someone addressed her. A little jolt went through her as the man spoke because, at first, she had thought it was someone of consequence. But when she turned fully to the man with a raised brow, she realized that she was safe. It was no one that would spread horrid gossip about her. She looked at the man for a moment before she recognized him.

"I don't see how that is any of your business, Mr. Dent," she replied coolly Though her tone was cool, her eyes swept over the, somewhat, younger man with an appraising look. She had to admit, he was pleasing to look at.

Robert chuckled and nodded with a sly smile. He remembered this woman well and she, like every other Lestrange, had looks that were a force to be reckoned with as well as a temper. He could tell she hadn't anticipated seeing anyone from the wizarding world in Muggle London. She seemed put off but didn't seem completely unhappy about it.

"Perhaps not." Robert shrugged. "But I cannot help but wonder why you would be here. Christmas shopping, perhaps?"

Robert knew he was baiting her, it was something he was completely aware of and not just a force of habit. Something like that usually was but this time he was focusing on getting some kind of response from the woman before him. Despite his intentional baiting he couldn't help but let his eyes wander over her. She wasn't quite as tall as him and her hair fell down her back in beautiful ringlets that almost sparkled in the faint sunlight which was pushing through the clouds.

She snorted at his comment about her Christmas shopping. "As if I would ever even consider buying muggle rubbish," she spat, irritated by the very suggestion. "Not that someone like you would know the differenc between this putresance and anything of actual quality," she sneered. Was her reply mean and cold? Yes. But, it wasn't her fault. He had irritated her.

That gave her pause; usually Isidora was much better at keeping her emotions in check. She had to in her house where arguements of any nature could escalate very quickly. There was something about his man; he knew how to get a rise out of her in ways that only her closest family did.

She crossed her arms and settled him with a look. "And what about you? Enjoying getting fleas from rolling around with the dogs?" she said with a smirk. Her snarky comments were all she knew. Its what she had heard her whole life, so anything otherwise was alien to her, at least, when it came to muggles.

Robert fought the instinct to come back with some kind of insulting reply which would probably end up with him coming off worse and fixed a charming smile back on his features. So she was going to tease him as well. Perhaps she was serious about him not knowing much about quality and other such nonsense but he didn't care so much. As long as the job got done and it was clean to some degree he didn't particularly care.

That was a really poor example of the things he bought but he wasn't fussy on the quality because he loved restoring things like old cars and pieces of antique furniture that looked as if they'd seen better days. He remembered coming across a framework of a BMW before and he shrunk it before taking it home to work on it. It took him a few years and a lot of money to restore her but she was a beauty now.

"You wound me, Isidora." Robert said, faking hurt. "I have never had a dog. I'm more of a cat person to be honest. What about you? Dogs or cats? My cousin prefers Elephants but she's a drunk so you can never be too sure what animal she has stolen from the zoo." Rob said thoughtfully.

As Isidora waited for his reply, she was taken aback a little but the smile he wore. It was a disarming, and quite charming. She rose a brow as he spoke, asking her about what animal she preferred. "Are you daft?" she asked, as he went on about his cousin's fondness for elephants. But it was a cruel question like her last statements had been, because his slight rambling had caused an amused smile to cross her features.

He had a sense of humor, she realized. That was refreshing for her; something completely different from the dark and morbid humor her husband and in-laws seemed to share. Isidora was always fond of those who could make her laugh, as laughter truly was the best medicine, so she believed.

Robert could have nodded quiet enthusiastically at her question but chose not to. He suspected he was dropped down a flight of stairs as a child which explained why he was skittish when it came to huge marble staircases. They looked cool but the floor was hard and not nice to land on. Ouch.

"I think it has something to do with excess intake of meat which wasn't actually supposed to happen." Robert shuddered and remembered why he ate what he ate. "Then again, I suppose it depends on personal opinion I suppose."

Robert shrugged and smirked again. He wondered honestly where all of his usual charm went. Out of the same window those books he'd bought would go most likely because they were heavy and uncomfortable to hold, even inside his messenger bag which he'd slung over his shoulders.

"Would you like to go and get a drink? I believe it is trying to snow." Robert said, looking up at the clouds that were blackening in a way that wasn't unlike the colour they got just before a blizzard. The sun had gone in and Robert didn't particularly like the idea of standing out in the snow with a woman that seemed at the moment to be hell-bent on pissing him off. As attractive as the prospect seemed he didn't want to try it too much.

Isidora perked a brow as he spoke, a smile still playing on her lips. His answer of an excess intake of meat prompted a quiet chuckle from her. She looked at Robert in mild surprise when he asked her if she wanted to get a drink with him. She wondered why he would ask such a thing of her, especially after she had just insulted him. 'Such an interesting guy,' she mused silently.

What should she say? Should she accept his invitation? After all, if she remembered correctly, he was a half-blood and one that was fond of all things muggle. And, he knew just how to irritate her. That alone perked her interest in him. He was amusing and had caused some sort of laugh from her. Finally she decided, why not? It wasn't like she had anyone waiting at home for her and on the off chance that someone from her circle did find out, it was sure to cause a stir.

She drew her own eyes up to the sky. Yes, it did look like it was about to snow and Isidora did not feel like being stuck in it. After a moment where she had been in thought, she finally answered him. "A drink at a bar sounds like a good idea," she said. She was never one to turn down alcohol, though she was far from being a drunk. "Lead the way," she said, actually putting effort into being genteel.
