Leaving the party early ((Nick)) Anna-paquin-picture-1

The second Christabelle got to Hogsmeade she sent a text message to Nick. It just told him where she was and to meet him there as soon as she could. She hoped he would recognize her with her hair dark and straight. She brushed the dirt off of her and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. She looked around, Hogsmeade had seemed pretty dead tonight. She figured it would have been with Abbey's party going on but now that Death Eaters had crashed it looking for her she didn't know how long it would stay quiet. She walked over to where she said she would meet him and sat down on a bench and sighed.

Nick had been on his way to Abbey’s party when he had received Christabelle’s message. His mobile was on silent which was a good thing as he had been listening to his music whilst walking. The vibration in his pocket alerted it too him. Nick reached calmly into his pocket, taking out his I-Phone and reading the message. Nick frowned and read it a second time, Death Eaters? At Abbey Dawn’s party! Nick was only a few minutes away and he quickly doubled back, quickening his pace as he text back. Usually he would have headed straight for the house and helped out but Christabelle seemed shaken up, his business was with her. He told her that he would be there in a few minutes, he just needed to find a decent spot to apparate and he would be there. Nick turned the music that was still blaring out of the headphones off then headed into a park. It was devoid of people and pitch black, perfect for apparating, no muggles would see him so everyone was happy. Drawing his wand from his back pocket he apparated. There was the usual feeling of being dragged through a hedge backwards at five hundred miles per hour, then there was a small pop as his feet re-appeared on the ground. Looking around he power walked off to find Christabelle, worry slowly building up in his chest as he prayed she was ok.

Nicholas found her sitting on a bench and was pleasantly surprised to see her hair had changed colour. She looked pretty down and Nick knew he had a job ahead of him too cheer her up. He approached slowly and smiled as she looked up “How did you know I loved brunettes? You look amazing sweetheart, are you ok?” Nick sat down on the bench next to her and continued “I got your text, what happened at the party? You said there were Death Eaters” He took her hand in his to give her some moral support while she relived the ordeal. Christabelle was safe now though, no-one could hurt her when he was around.

Nich was dressed smartly in dark blue denim jean’s and a white polo shirt, over which he wore a white Fred Perry jumper. Muggle clothing was much more fashionable than wizarding robes, indeed Nick wouldn’t be seen dead in a lot of the stuff wizards wore. Green cloaks and pointy hats were not really for him. Nick’s eyes would not leave Christabelle’s as she spoke….

Christabelle, grateful to see Nick wrapped her arms around him the second he sat down next to her. She didn't let go of him as he spoke but she was glad to be out of the party. "Yes, I did say death eaters." she said looking him in the eyes, "They attacked at me and Abbey and set the house on fire." she explained her voice still filled with panic as she spoke about it. "The roof of the house almost collapsed on me before I got out of it." She did look a tad bit dirty as she explained all this, but she was one of the lucky ones.

"The second Abbey's father showed up I left and came here." she explained. "I didn't want you to go there, so I text you to let you know I had come here instead." By this time she had pulled away from him a bit as he held her hand in his.

Nick listened intently and was amazed to hear the story behind it, he could hardly believe the Death Eaters had attacked a young girls home, wasn’t Abbey Dawn in third year. He shook his head as the story un-folded, Christabelle was lucky to be alive and Nick was thankful. He held her tight as she hugged him, not wanting to let her go “You did the right thing by texting me babe. Don’t worry your safe now, Ill bet Matt Lestrange had something to do with this. I’m so sorry I dragged you into my battles.” It was true, Matt knew that Christabelle and he were close and Matt hated Nick. Ever since that battle at Hogwarts where he had completely broken him. Nick sighed as he realised things were spiralling out of control, he needed to take care of that troublesome man as soon as possible. He smiled confidently at her however, his face failing to betray his inner turmoil. He spoke calmly “Does your cousin know where you are? Where are you staying tonight?”

Nick knew Godric would be livid if he found out what had just happened, and indeed Nick’s role in alerting Christabelle too the Death Eater’s. The two boys were not really friends but Nick had some respect for him, he did of course always have Christabelle’s best interests at heart. Nick continued calmly “Come on lets go get a drink from the three broomstick’s, you look like you could use one, Ill buy of course.”

"He was there." She said looking at him. "He was the one that cast fiendfyre and set the house on fire." she continued to say. "I can't believe they're making me be a teaching assistant in his class. I have to actually pretend to respect him!" She knew about Matt not liking Nick. "Its not your fault liebe." she said, "Don't apologize for something you didn't do or cause."

"No he doesn't." she said not wanting to talk about her cousin. "I mean he knows I was going to Abbey's party but that was about it." He had been right, she did need a drink, if for nothing else than to calm her nerves. "I do want one." she said looking at him as she stood up.

Nick wasn’t shocked when he heard that Matt had been involved, b*****d Nick thought to himself. He appreciated that Christabelle did not blame him for dragging her into Matt’s games but he wasn’t convinced that it wasn’t his fault. Had she not been dating him, she would have probably been under his radar, still there was no point in kicking himself now "Thanks sweetheart, though I know I have some part to play. He wouldn't even know who you are had you not been dating me." Nick sort of trailed off. Matt would get his comeuppance soon enough though, they always did, Nick prayed that it would be he that delivered the killing blow, though what were the chances? For now Nicholas’s job was not to go seeking revenge, but to keep Christabelle safe and happy. He wrapped his arm around her waist and guided her down the cobbled street. The Three Broomstick’s was just a short walk away, there they would be safe, even if Matt did turn up, there was always a huge crowd in the pub.

They walked for just under a minute when they appeared outside The Three Broomstick’s. It looked very homely, there was a sweet fragrance spilling out of the pub and on to the streets and the little windows glowed yellow as a result of the candlelight. Nick pushed open the door and allowed Christabelle to enter first, he followed behind and let the door close behind him. A few head’s turned as they entered but they quickly returned to what they were doing before they had came in. Most of the tables were full, people chatting about their days at work and what not. There was a table free however towards the back of the room, hidden away in the corner, it was perfect Nick thought. He stood behind Christabelle and with both hand’s on her hips guided her too the table.

After excusing a few drunk wizards they were there. It was not a dark, dingy corner but it would provide them all the privacy they needed to discuss the nights going-on’s. Nick pulled Christabelles seat out for her then took the one next to her. The candle upon the table provided them with their own little bit of lighting but also a little bit of warmth. Nick hadn’t realised how cold it had been outside until he had entered the pub. He spoke calmly “Do you want butterbeer or something a little stronger?” Technically speaking Nick was not old enough to buy alcohol in a bar, but at this time of the night and on a Friday night no-one really cared.

"Are we so sure?" she asked Nick as they were walking, "I am a daughter of a minister of magic." she reminded him. It had been true. She would make the perfect kidnapping victim she knew. She was still shaking alittle but it wasn't from the cold, in fact, she really couldn't feel the cold she was so numb.

She walked into the pub as she held on to Nick following him back to a small table in a back corner of the bar. She sat down when he held out the chair for her. She scooted closer to him and the table when he sat down. "I think I'd like something stronger." she said looking at him, "If you can't get it I can no problem." she flashed a small smile at him, not a true smile but for now it was better than nothing. She was showing some emotion. She looked at him, "You're so sweet to look after me."

Nick returned Christabelle’s smile, indeed he could be sweet at times, though he was more than capable of conjuring up moment’s of nastiness. These moments tended too be around Matt Lestrange, that man seemed to always bring out the worst in him. Nick kissed her forehead as he rose from his seat and headed over towards the bar. He swaggered slightly and walked a little straighter, so as to reach to his full height. There really was nothing to getting served alcohol, one just needed to act as though they fully expected to be given what they wanted. Approaching the bar he smiled then ordered four fire whisky’s, the woman behind the counter did not think twice, she poured his drinks, presented them to him with a smile and Nick paid and tipped her before leaving to return for the table. Hopefully these drinks would cheer Christabelle up, he kept forgetting that she was a ministers daughter. She was in more danger than Nick had ever imagined, perhaps that was why her cousin was so protective of her. Christabelle was more than capable of protecting herself though, she had done it tonight after all. It was through her own doing she managed to escape the party and come here.

Nick approached their table and set the drinks upon it “No problems on the drink front. I got you two, you look like you need them.” Nick sat down in his chair and shuffled it a little closer to Christabelle’s. He would down his first drink then sip at his second, he too felt the need for a strong drink. It was a Friday night after all, a good night for partying. Nick cleared his throat then spoke “If its not too much sweetheart what exactly happened at Abbey’s party? Where did the Death Eaters come from? This is a sure sign that Tom Riddle is alive. Its not like last time when he perished, the Death Eaters sort of crawled into their little holes and everyone Basqued in the peace which followed. That doesn’t appear to have happened this time, everything still seems so, chaotic.”

Nick crossed his legs and gazed deep into Christabelle’s eyes. He smiled a re-assuring smile “We may as well make a night of it now we are here huh? We will have to sneak back up to the castle mind, I don’t think the care-taker appreciates drunk students stumbling into the halls at night.”

Christy downed one of the drinks before she spoke. She needed a bit of liquid courage to tell what he had asked. She sighed a little as she looked down into the second drink of hers. "Well I hadn't been at Abbey's anymore than five or ten minutes." she started out as she took another sip of her drink. "She and I were dancing along with everyone else there and all of a sudden I saw something flying towards me and Abbey and I ducked." She was starting to shake again, "I don't know who that was that threw it but I do know Matt showed up not too long after and cast fiendfyre." she said. "I barely made it out of the house and away from there." she felt bad, "If they ganged up on everyone then Abbey's father is now dead. He was the only adult there fighting them."

Nick stroked Christabelle’s shoulder as she relived the ordeal, Abbey’s father was dead, wow. He had not expected to hear such sad news. He threw half the fire whisky down his throat to deal with the news, he didn’t really know Abbey but no-one deserved that. Nick gave Christabelle a small smile before apologising “The main thing is your safe. I’m sorry, I should have been there for you, too help fight. Perhaps if I had been there, things would have turned out differently.” Nick gazed into the glass, the effects of the straight alcohol already taking a bit of a toll on him.

Gazing up he decided to take the conversation away from death eaters and what not. Nicholas had hardly complimented her on her new look. Brown hair really suited her and her dress today was lovely “I really like your hair like that. Did it take a while to do? Im not sure which I prefer, brown or blonde. Your so beautiful.” It was true, she was probably one of the better looking girls at Hogwarts “What are your plans for the weekend Christabelle?”
