Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Carriage Ride to the Castle [Sierra] Empty Carriage Ride to the Castle [Sierra]

Post by Guest Wed Aug 19, 2009 9:29 pm

As the train chugged to a halt Nick found himself escorting first year students who had been seated around him out on to the platform. Last year he would have been the last person to be helping first years, it was funny what a little badge could do to ones personality. Nick had been embaressed and annoyed at having made prefect at the start of the summer but now he was warming to it. These feeling's however would no doubt leave him again when he actually started school. After making sure all those around him were off safely, and that there was no one else needing some help, he too stepped of the train and on to the platform. Nick was a little relieved too see the teacher's taking over the "looking after first year duty". He like everyone else headed up towards the carriages. He enjoyed the carriage rides, they were relaxing and much more old fashioned than the train. It really got him in the mood for magic. Seeing them all lined up and ready to go Nick's pace quickened slightly.

After patting the thestral pulling the carriage Nick ascended the couple of steps to get inside. It was nice and cosy, comfortable green leather seats adorned either side of it and two wall mounted candles provided just enough light to see the other side of the small room. Nick gazed out the window at the darkness which had enveloped the landscape. They had been on that train all day, he was almost at Hogwarts, just another twenty minutes or so. His last time in Hogwarts had been a dark and dangerous affair. Nick hoped to god that they had managed to repair all the damage caused by the battle. It would be weird walking up and down the corridor where he had battled the Lestrange's, it would take some getting used too. Rain began to trickle down the window.

Nick had changed into his full school uniform early into the train journey. He wore his white shirt, his green and silver striped tie and a black Hogwart's sweater. Nick also wore black dress trousers and black loafer's. Over all this he wore his black school robe, the ends were trimmed with green and silver, showing that he was a member of Slytherin house. Nick really suited his Hogwarts uniform, he was a good looking guy, though until now he had been more interested in the Dark Arts and what not. He was only really beginning to notice the girls around him. Sighing a little he reached into his black leather satchel and drew his wand, which he fiddled around with out of boredom. It was a new wand, fresh from Ollivanders and it still had that new wand feel.

Sierra was up getting her luggage before the train had even stopped. Every year, she was always the last one off the train because everybody got their luggage before her, and she was not going to nearly miss being left behind again. When the train did stop, she was the first in the hallway. At least, second. She stepped off the train, and got into a carriage that had a boy in it. Atleast a fifth year.

Nick turned his head slightly as the carriage door opened and a young girl climbed in, taking the seat opposite him. She was a very pretty girl, who looked around his age. Her long brown hair falling way past her shoulder's and her pink lips shining with lip gloss. Nick smiled at her rather stupidly as he stared. She did not look like she wanted to talk, at least she never made the first move. Nick put the wand back in his bag and spoke rather calmly, trying to come of as cool "My name's Valentine, Nick Valentine. You look....nice."

Great he thought, he never even caught her name and he was complementing her on her appearence. Typical guy, messing thing's up by opening his mouth, he set about fixing the situation "What I mean is, do you have a name?" It was around this time the thestral pulling their carriage broke into a slow trot. The little carriage bounced slightly as it was pulled along the road.

"Well, of course, doesn't everybody?" Sierra smiled. "It's Myst, Sierra Myst, Nice to meet you. And thanks, I was hoping to make a good impression on the first day of term." Sierra looked out the window. She had not realized that it was raining. "Hey, was that wand you were holding knew?"

Nice name Nick thought to himself, kinda erotic, she couldn't be English or Scottish could she? Sierra was indeed making a good impression, on Nick anyways. He smiled at her when she introduced herself. Nick wondered slightly how she knew the wand was new but replied none the less "What? Oh yeah, yeah it is how did you know?" Nick decided to enquire further into who Sierra Myst was? Was she in his year? What house did she belong to? That sort of thing. "So Sierra, how old are you and what house is it that you belong too? Are you taking any NEWTS this year?"

"I won't be taking any NEWT's, because I'm a 5th year. I'm fifteen, and a Ravenclaw. How old are you, and what house are you in?" Sierra was taking OWLs this year, she would be taking NEWTs next year. She hoped to be taking Charms.

Nick was a little dissapointed when he heard that Sierra was not taking any NEWT'S, shame really it would have been cool if they had been in the same class. Ravenclaw hmm? Obviously she was a smart girl, for that was a trait almost all Ravenclaws had. Nick was a Slytherin and for good reason, he wasn't just an amazing duellist and a well versed wizard in the dark arts, he also had that star quality. That trait that Salazar Slytherin prized, the ability to speak to snakes. Nick spoke calmly "Im a seventeen year old, sixth year Slytherin. So Im taking NEWT'S this year, I sat my OWL'S last year. Do you think you will do well? Are you looking forward to getting up to the castle?"

Sierra did have an advantage in school. It was one of her best qualities. "Well, I have a history of good grades, so I think I will do well. And yes, I am excited to see the castle again." She looked out the window. As usual, the castle was huge and welcoming.

"I have a history of good grades, in the classes that I deem important. I got three O's in my OWL'S, Transfiguration, Charm's and The Dark Arts." He said, an emphasization on the later. He quietened down then Nick too looked out the window. The light's which shone in the castle were like little fireflies in the night sky, it was a beautifull site, and totally devoid of Death Eaters. It was still a mystery how they broke into the castle, a mystery that Nick was determined to solve. That however could wait, he had the feast too look forward to first, that and unpacking his belongings in the dormitory. Returning his attention to Sierra he spoke calmly "Well if your having a bit of trouble I could tutor you in either of those three classes I got O's in? If you think you need it of course?"

"Well, I do need a little help in Defence Against the Dark Arts, but Transfiguration and Charms I do just fine in. Would it be too much if you tutor me? And if you need alittle help in anything, I'm here." Sierra smiled. She was a little embarresed that she needed help in something because Ravenclaws were supposed to be the smartest, but nobody was perfect. She felt the carriage lurch to stop, and she looked out of the window. They were there already?
