One of the Compartments Empty One of the Compartments

Post by Guest Fri Aug 14, 2009 9:16 pm

Rose had gotten to Platform 9 and 3/4 early, and had chosen a good compartment, but towards the back of the train. She had wanted to be in a crowded compartment, but didn't feel like looking for one. So she found her own, and waited for someone to come in when they didn't have any other spaces. She had been waiting for a while, and no one had come into the compartment. Whoever was probably still looking for one.

She had wanted to sit at the back of the train because she had discovered that there were bigger compartments at the back of the train. She was glad, because she was a Malfoy and Malfoys needed a lot of room. Not that she acted like a Malfoy, but she still had the excuse of being one. The only thing that made her a Malfoy was her legal name, her blonde hair, and her house; Slytherin. Everything else, she was definitely different from her family in. And Rose took a lot of pride in that fact.

Rose sighed and sat down, looking outside the window, staring at the quickly-moving scenery. It was quiet...too quiet.

One of the Compartments Empty Re: One of the Compartments

Nick had strolled up the back of the train in an attempt to get away from Dominique. She must think he was some sort of weirdo for ditching her like that but he needed a bit of space. He swaggered up the train clearing a path ahead of him. He did not need to do much the other kids just seemed to step aside as a prefect approached them. Probably up to no good thought Nick but he was in no mood to sort all that out just now.

The back of the train was well known for being Slytherin territory. Most of the compartment's were full but after a bit of a stroll Nick found one semi full. A young girl, who was seemingly staring out of the window was all that occupied it. He figured he could force her out if he wanted to but he decided against it. Speaking calmly he addresed her in a polite manner "Do you mind if I sit here?" Being the gentleman that Nick was he remained standing in the doorway to the compartment before being told to take a seat.

Nick wore a white shirt, unbuttoned at the top and rolled up at the sleeves. He sported a pair of black denim jeans and a pair of white sneakers. His wand he held in his hand, fiddling around with it, twirling it in his finger's. He was a little agitated about how his meeting with Dominique had gone but other than that in a pretty good mood.

Rose turned around when she heard someone speaking. "Yeah, you can sit here. The question is may you sit here?" She smirked. She was only playing with him, but it was pretty funny to her. "I'm only playing, sure you can sit here. It's pretty boring with no one sitting with you." Rose recognized the boy, probably someone in her house, and started to speak.

"I'm Rose Malfoy. And, you are? She said, waiting for him to introduce himself. He didn't have to, she was just curious. She didn't want to have to sit in a train compartment with some dude whose name she didn't know. It would've been akward, and Rose didn't feel like dealing today.

Nick smirked a little as the young girl teased him, typical Slytherin, doesn't care about authority, he kind of liked that. His prefect badge didn't mean much to him either "Cheeky." he replied before taking the seat opposite her. He set his black leather man bag next to him, it contained the case for his wand and a book or two he had brought for the journey but it looked like he wouldn't be needing them, for now. Indeed it was boring, enduring the train ride all the way to Hogwarts alone was something he had never had to experience, and never wanted too "Odd, dont you have any friend's to sit with? I've seen you around the school, aren't you pretty popular?" Nick had indeed seen her, whether or not he was mixing her up with someone else though was a diffrent question.

When she introduced herself Nick's eyes widened "A Malfoy? Well the pleasure is all mine Miss Rose. My name is Valentine, Nicholas Valentine but you can call me Nick." He slouched a little in the seat and relaxed back "What year are you in? Looking forward to getting back?" He gave her a friendly smile then turned his attention to his wand, still fiddling it around in his fingers. He did that, when he got a little nervous...

"Yeah, I've been told that before." She grinned. She did have friends, but they were such followers! They did everything she did and adored her just because she was a Malfoy. Dear Merlin, it was only a name! Her siblings didn't feel like she did, and she mentally rolled her eyes. It was very annoying being a Malfoy at times, but she liked having some perks. Like her father being able to get her out of trouble whenever she did get into trouble(which was a lot).

"I ditched them. They all follow me around, just because of my name. So annoying." And trust her, it was annoying. Then he started basically sucking up to her just because of her name, like almost everybody else did. She sighed and rolled her eyes. "It's okay, you don't have to be nice just because I'm a Malfoy. Just covering my bases." She said, just to make it seem like he wasn't being too obvious.

"Hello Nick. Umm, third year, and no, not really glad to be back. You see, Hogwarts is just not big enough when you're avoiding family. But the Malfoy Manor is." Rose said, grinning cheekily. And when you lived in your own password protected wing of the house, it was.

Nick had never been followed around because his familly were special, he was just a normal guy from a normal town. He had been stalked because of his skills in the dark arts, little scrawny people who believed being nice to him would provide some sort of protection. Nick didn't let it bother him though, unlike Rose it seemed, she would have to learn to deal with it and just relax. Quidditch was also a really good way to gain followers, especially followers from the opposite sex. Nick had found this out a little late though and by the time he had become interested in girls he had quit the Quidditch team, too bad he figured.

His eyes looked up from the wand and focussed on Rose when she scorned him for being nice to her. Nick was rather tacken aback but he replied calmly "Im not being nice because your a Malfoy. I was merely letting you know that I've heard of your familly, they have after all done alot for the wizarding world. Even if some of their acts have been a little....dark." Nick smiled then continued "If I decide I dont like you trust me Im walking. Your name may be important to your little friends but not too me. I was just suprised too meet a member of such a prestigous line. But thats enough about names eh?"

Avoiding her familly? Why on earth would she want to do that. Nick decided not to enquire, she obviously wasn't particularly keen on those she lived with, he merely laughed a little "An entire wing of a manor, sounds cool. I live in a Scottish town called Dumfries you heard of it? House isn't big but its home. Your in Slytherin right? How many of your brothers and sisters go to Hogwarts? Do you have a lot of familly members to avoid this year." He joked.

"Good, because I get that way too much. I thought you were doing it too. And if you were, I would've tried to jump out of the compartment window." Rose joked. She would've tried to get out of the compartment no doubt, and that was one of her options. And then Rose heard him start talking about how her family did good for the world; the bad sort. She immediately wiped the grin off her face, and gave Nick a hard stare. She wasn't just any Malfoy, she was a good Malfoy. That was just how she was.

"I'm not evil like the rest of my family. I despise what they did. You're looking at the only good Malfoy." Rose said with pride. And it was true, she was proud that she was different than the rest of her family. The rest of her family was immersed in the dark arts, and she wasn't. She liked that fact, and she was glad that she had realized that bad was wrong when she was younger, and wasn't brainwashed like the rest of the Malfoy family.

"So if you want to walk now, because I'm not a regular Malfoy, you can do that. I won't mind, it's happened before." Rose said. She did mind, but it didn't show. It wasn't visible, she was a Malfoy, one of the Masters of Perfection Masks. That's what she did in public when she was with her family, except for the Malfoy Manor and Hogwarts. Other than that, they had to look like the perfect family. They were Malfoys, after all.

"Oh, that's fine. And yes, enough about names." Rose smiled. "It is, trust me. And no, I haven't. I could never imagine living in a small house with my family. That would be horrible. They are the worst." Rose rolled her eyes, a small smile playing on her face. They were the worst, Rose wasn't even exaggerating.

"I have two siblings, Suzannah and Scorpius, and they both go to Hogwarts. And I've got to tell you, worst set of people you've ever met." Rose said, laughing. "See, I'm the different one! I'm the only Malfoy child without a name starting with an 'S'. I was destined to be different." Rose joked. She believed that too, though.

One of the Compartments Empty Re: One of the Compartments

Nick could sense a feeling of pride in Rose Malfoy's words as she spoke about her feelings concerning her familly. A good Malfoy? It was almost un-thinkable but Nick believed it to be true, he could just tell. He admired her for being diffrent, it couldn't have been easy going against her famillies wishes, and betraying her siblings like she was. Nick did not believe the dark arts were neceisarily evil, not when it was used for the right reasons, but he did not argue his point.

Rose and he were actually rather similar in that they did not like there parents, though Rose's reasons were far more serious than his, at least he could associate with her feeling's though. He smiled re-assuringly and leaned forward in his seat after she had a bit of an outburst. She clearly had trust issues when it came to talking with other people "I think its brave what your doing, going against them like that, you should always be your own person. Thats my view too." He relaxed back and continued "People that dont want to talk to you because you dont follow in your famillies footsteps are just vain."

When he heard of Suzannah and Scorpius he laughed a little, luckilly he hadn't really spoken to the two of them before, but he did know who they were "Ill remember that if I ever have the mis-fortune of meeting them. Maybe you were destined to be diffrent Rose, life works like that. Ill bet Draco is wishing he had named you Susan or something now, he tempted fate when he broke the mould with you." Nick thoroughly enjoyed sitting with the young girl, she, like all girls her age was eager to speak about herself and it meant more often than not he never needed to speak about him. Nick decided though that since she was telling him all about her familly it was only fair if he did the same. "I am not particularly close to my familly but my baby sisters pretty cute. I spent alot of time with her over the holidays." It was a pathetic little bit of information but it was the best he could think off.

Deciding to move the subject away from familly Nick spoke once more about Hogwarts "So what is your favourite class? Im guessing its not the Dark Arts, but Ill bet your a bit of a rebel in all classes? Ill have to keep my eye on you." Nick joked, his prefect badge gleaming as it caught a ray of sun shining through the glass window.

"Yes, I've always been told I'd make a good Gryffindor. And thank you, a lot of people just look at me darkly and tell me I was a mistake. That's good though, I thought you'd be like every other Slytherin. It's good that you're not though, our house needs some originals." Rose grinned. It was true, her house was very predictable. Everyone was snotty, annoying, rude, and very follower-ish. It was really annoying that her house was so predictable and then there was her. The only people that she had met that were different were Alex Zabini, her brother, and Nick. It was very refreshing to be around those types of people.

"My parents didn't name me. Suzannah and Scorpius were fighting, so my godmother named me. My mom was being looked after by a nurse and they needed a name, so she gave me her middle name. My parents weren't very happy that I was named Rosalie instead of Saffron or Sandy or something like that." Rose laughed. It was pretty funny to her, because her name was always stressing her family out. There was Suzannah, then Scorpius, then Rosalie. It just didn't fit; it didn't work right for them.

"Aww, how sweet. Wish my brother was like that." Rose said, and it was true. She wished her brother and sister acted how she did and not like vicious little snots. It was horrible living in her house. It wasn't like a home at all, it was like a dictatorship. But of course, her being Rose, challenged everything. And it was very irritating.

"I don't really go to classes. I go, show up for about half the class, and then walk out. I get my dad to take care of anything I can't take care of. It's good to be a Malfoy, but only in that respect." Rose laughed. "And yes, I'm a prefects' worst nightmare. Oooh, beware!" Rose joked.

One of the Compartments Empty Re: One of the Compartments

It was very sweet of her to compliment him on his nicer ideals Nick thought. She really wasn't a particularly good Malfoy, he grinned a little "Yes, originals are hard to come by in Slytherin. If you want to stand out in our common room you dont really need to try, just be nice. As for the Gryfindor thing, Im sure that the sorting hat has its reasons for placing you in Slytherin. Maybe to brighten up the dungeons hmm." He laughed then looked out of the window. They were rolling past the countryside at what looked like sixty mph. It was relaxing seeing everything zoom by. They would be at Hogwarts tonight, Nick would be sleeping in his old bed for the first time in months.

The story behind her name was interesting and Nick nodded at points to show her he was listening. She was indeed right, when she named off her sibling's and herself things just didn't seem to fit, no matter. Nick was not particularly sure what the thinking behind his name was "I think my parents just liked the ring Nicholas had. I prefer Nick though, its shorter and easier for people to remember." It was a shame Rose never had a brother to hang around with. His little sister was only two but siblings always had close bond's, he wouldnt trade her for the world "You will find someone you can rely on one day, your still young. Brother and sister relationships can be over-rated sometimes, your not that unlucky for not having one I promise." Nick smiled re-assuringly.

When Nick heard that Rosalie bunked classes and used her familly name to get her off the hook his eyes really did widen "Rose you should be in class all the time. You need to stick in at Hogwarts so you can defend yourself against whatever lies waiting for you outside the castle walls. How can you ever hope to be free from your famillies poisonous grasp if you constantly count on your father to get you out of trouble? This year Im going to make sure you work hard, its my duty as a prefect." He grinned broadly, though his words were meant.
