Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Delving into Another World Empty Delving into Another World

Catalina stepped into the library, the sweet smell of books wafted up through her nostrils and causing her mind to be released of its troubles, even if just for a simple moment. She had no schoolwork to do yet, so reading seemed like a good idea.

Strolling over to a table, she draped her bag of the chair, and then removed her cloak and threw it across the back of the seat. She knew she was going to be in here for a while.

Not looking for anything in particular, she absentmindedly walked over to a bookshelf and ran her fingers down many spines, searching for a title that would spark her interest. Smiling when she saw one based on Mythological Creatures, she pulled it out and traipsed back over to the table her stuff sat waiting for her to return.

Sighing contentedly, Catalina opened up to the first page, her eyes zooming across the acknowledgments and chapter names. A smile placed itself upon her full pink lips, causing a sense of elation to fill her entire being.

Zoe entered the library. She had to return some books she had checked out. Talking a moment to scan the libary. There was never no telling who would be inside. As always she found a few that she knew. Then her gaze fell on a girl that she hadn't seen before. Feeling in a semi good mood, Zoe walked over to her. "Hi. Your new right."

Catalina, hearing a faint voice above her, looked up halfway startled. Her blue eyes were as wide as saucers but they quickly shrank to their normal size when she saw that it was only a mere girl asking if she was new.

Allowing her heartbeat to calm itself down, she stood up and extended her hand elegantly. She plastered a well-prepared smile onto her porcelain face, keeping the brightness of her eyes intact. No one would ever know.

"Catalina Williams," she said with her honeyed voice. "Yes, you are indeed correct. My parents chose to school me privately up until now, where they decided that it would be wise for me to interact with people in a more natural setting."

Her posture, although slightly bent to reach towards the girl standing before her, was still poised with grace, noticeably causing her to look almost too proper for her age. But, elegance is a rare virtue, her parents had always told her.

She would live by that. All of their rules stayed in her mind. Never would she be able to erase her teachings by those two other people that created her. They were not her parents. Parents were loving and accepting. Catalina's parents were loving, but very disapproving.

She must do her best, and never fail.

Zoe nodded, trying to keep her smile. Another person with an intact family, oh joy. But that wasn't going to keep her from attempting to play nice at least. "Nice to meet you. I'm Zoe Weasley. A Hufflepuff Prefect. If you need any help or anything let me know."

She watched as she Catalina stood in front of her. For some strong reason, she reminded her of her sisters. That didn't seem to be good. After all Zoe and her sisters didn't get along. "I can only imgaine how nice it was to be schooled at home. My parnets got rid of me as soon as they could. So I don't really go back there a lot. But I prefer it that way."

Not knowing what else to say. Zoe decided to ask, "Well how do you like Hogwarts so far?"

Catalina saw the hesitation in Zoe's expression. What did she see in me just now? Catalina thought curiously, keeping her blue eyes locked on Zoe's.

"It is a pleasure to meet you as well, Zoe. I am in my Sixth Year and a Ravenclaw." She smiled at the gesture. "Thank you very much. I will remember that. It is very kind of you to offer your wisdom to someone who knows almost nothing about Hogwarts except what she has read in books. I apologize, sometimes I go off on things. Just let me know if it bothers you. Many times I have been silenced for my rambling." But here was the only place she could get away with it and not be scorned. First Ne'Os comforted her manners, but Zoe seemed a little closed off.

Catalina noticed Zoe's searching eyes and kept her expression alight with happiness, careful not to reveal anything of her true feelings. That was always looked down upon at home. Never again would she open up to someone so much to be let down so far.

"Actually, Zoe," Catalina began while seating herself back down gracefully and gesturing for Zoe to sit with her, "It was quite suffocating. I was never allowed to leave unless escorted by a Servant, and the only time I spent alone were times when I could escape to my secret sanctuary. But, I have let myself run away with my stories again. I apologize for revealing so much of my past to you. I am sure that you do not have time to listen to such talk."

"Hogwarts is alright so far, I have only met a couple of people and I have no schoolwork yet. All in all, it will get better I am sure." Her voice deceived her, however because for a moment it faltered, allowing a minuscule amount of despair to leak into her words. With a bright smile, she flashed a happy expression towards Zoe, trying to show that nothing was wrong.

Keeping her hand in her pockets, Zoe contined to watch Catalina. Part of her wondered would she be just like so many others are here or would she actually be different. She was like the rest, then they would probably not get along that well. But you never know.

Zoe stood and listened to Catalina. She did seem to ramble a lot. Which was actually a little funny but hey, to each their own. Zoe did it at times. Get her talking about drawing and she could go on for hours. So she understood what it was like to ramble. "Oh don't worry. Rambleing is a good thing. Can make a conversation very intresting." May she wasn't like the rest.

Quickly Zoe looked back to the table. She felt almost ashamed at staring at Catalina. She was just trying to read her. It was something Zoe did to all new people. Trying to get a feeling on who they were and if they were worth her time to go out of her way to be nice to. But when she noticed that Catalina noticed what she was doing she had to look away.

Zoe watched as Catalina sat back down in the chair that she had been seated in to begin with. She listened to her talk about her life before coming to Hogwarts. She really did feel sorry for the girl. "Well being escorted is a lot better than being ignored all together. Being told every day that they wished you were never born." Zoe said with a shrug of her shoulders. Trying to show that she understood what it was like to come for a home that was troubled. In one way or the other. "No I don't mind you telling me anything. Actually I have a free period and nothing really to do so we can chat."

"Hogwarts is a very intresting place. Just wait. It gets better." She said with a small smile and laugh. Slowly Zoe turned toward a chair. "Do you mind if I sit and join you for a few minutes at least?"

Oh don't worry. Rambling is a good thing. Can make a conversation very interesting. When Zoe said it, Catalina saw a change come about her eyes, and let out a small sigh of relief. Maybe this girl would actually be a friend to her . . . a real friend. "Well, I am glad that you think so, because I tend to digress quite frequently."

Well being escorted is a lot better than being ignored all together. Being told every day that they wished you were never born. "I wish that we did not have both ends of the spectrum, Zoe. It is a terrible thing to not even feel comfortable in one's own abode." A sigh escaped through her full pink lips before she ran a trembling hand down her dark waves.

No I don't mind you telling me anything. Actually I have a free period and nothing really to do so we can chat. Catalina smiled truly, it wasn't a fake or preforming smile, she actually felt relief as her lips stretched gracefully over her teeth. "I appreciate that, Zoe. And, I find it rather enjoyable that you have taken an interest in staying here with me."

Hogwarts is a very interesting place. Just wait. It gets better. Catalina wasn't so sure, but she merely nodded and smiled as a reply like so many times at her parents' parties. Smile and pretend like everything's okay, she kept telling herself. This will all be over soon and you can escape to that secret hideaway you so long for.

Do you mind if I sit and join you for a few minutes at least? Catalina smiled elegantly before extended her hand a little to her right. "Please do! I do not mind in the slightest."

Zoe sat down at the table across from Catalina. Noticing how she started to relax a little from Zoe talking to her. Zoe knew what it was like to be new at a school and to feel a little out of place. So if she could help this girl not feel so out of place. Maybe it would be worth it. Of course if Catalina found out some things Zoe hid in her past she would probaby run the other direction.

"Oh don't feel bad. I tend to get on a subject and will ramble on and on until everyone around me just wants me to shut up. It can get a little annoying at times." Zoe told her with a smile and a shrug. "So don't worry about doing that with me. I totally understand. Plus if it comes to a point that your around someone

Zoe sat listening to Catlina talk about being comfortable in their own homes. "[color=violet]Oh I got over it years ago. My grandparents gave me an old family home. I spend my time away from Hogwarts there. Its a lot better too. Wouldn't pass it up for anything.
" Zoe did miss her family but it wasn't worth the painful words that were expressed when she was around.

Zoe shrugged at Catalina's comment about her staying around. "Oh, its now big deal. I remember what it was like to be the new person and hate being that person. So if I can help someone else I do." Zoe told her. "Plus, what kind of Prefect would I be if I ignored someone new." She smiled a little to show that she was only joking.

Noticing how quiet Catalina was when their started discussing Hogwarts made Zoe a little concered. She understand not thinking that you will fit in or something. "Don't worry abou thet school. Things will all sort themselves out soon. It will be like you have been here for ages soon." She smiled to try and help her relax a little.

Catalina watched as Zoe sat across from her. Her smiles said that she was more comfortable now, but once more, Catalina did not understand what it meant to be truly comfortable. Such relaxation seemed impossible to achieve.

Oh don't feel bad. I tend to get on a subject and will ramble on and on until everyone around me just wants me to shut up. It can get a little annoying at times. Catalina shrugged before saying, "I really do not mind people digressing so much. It gives a little insight of who they really are when they slip up, you know?"

Oh I got over it years ago. My grandparents gave me an old family home. I spend my time away from Hogwarts there. Its a lot better too. Wouldn't pass it up for anything. "Do you ever get lonely there?" she whispered, searching Zoe's eyes. Catalina noticed the knowing look in her new acquaintance's eyes and for the second time since she had been here, she feared she had already revealed too much.

Oh, its no big deal. I remember what it was like to be the new person and hate being that person. So if I can help someone else I do. Plus, what kind of Prefect would I be if I ignored someone new. Catalina smiled almost dismally, her cheerfulness twittering for a fraction of a second before the grin upon her lips brightened smoothly. "I understand, but like I told you, I have never really left my home except to visit other people's homes. What a bore those never-ending parties were. Everyone was always watching me, waiting for me to try and escape, but then not really noticing if I ever did . . ." She trailed off, blushing brightly. A tinge of pink colored her ceramic face, causing her to look like a pale rose.

Don't worry about the school. Things will all sort themselves out soon. It will be like you have been here for ages soon. Catalina merely nodded, still unsure of what was to come. Social situations, although brought up in how to act in them, never seemed to be this difficult.

Zoe reached and pulled her bag onto the table. She sat playing with the edge of it. Doing this helped to calm her a little. Not really sure why she was a little nervous. But it was out of habit anyway. She looked back up at Catalina.

She had to agree with Catalina on that one. She nodded in agreement. "One thing I have learned. You can learn a lot from someone by just listening to them rant. There is never no telling what might come out. Its a little funny at times but really good also." Turth be told this was very true. She had learned to use this little tatic a lot.

Zoe took a moment and looked back at her hand. "Yea I get lonely. But then again I get lonely here filled with all these people. So I've gotten use to it." She shrugged a little. "But when I go home, I stay busy. I draw. Or I have vistors. So it isn't really all that bad. I also like having time to myself. My brother is really the only person who come visits that is family." Talking about her family wasn't something that Zoe really enjoyed doing. That was a part of her life she preferred to cut out all together. All of course, other than her father and brother. They were the exceptions.

Zoe smiled a little. "So you did escape from the parties. Looks like you will fit right in here. Oh, and don't worry. Stick with me and you will be visitng and hanging out and stuff soon. I do it a lot. I mean don't get me wrong I do my work. But I also enjoy having a good time. Life is too short not to."

Zoe watched Catalina as she sat across from her. She might be new but hopefully she would loosen up a little soon and relax.
