"Thank you," Marcus said, relieved. "I didn't intend to leave him there that long, but neither did I want any chance that these men would harm anyone. They were trained by Edward to defend non-werewolves from werewolves, and we certainly have werewolves here. I wanted to make sure they knew that just because they can recognize who is a werewolf does not mean they should harm them." When Ruby said goodnight, he smiled. "'Night, Ruby. ' He made the downstairs security checks, and then changed into a pair of pajamas just to be comfortable, got out a blanket and made himself comfortable on the sofa for the night.
He was awakened before daylight by the smell of some of the richest, most aromatic coffee he had ever smelled. Simone was in the kitchen with just the ceiling light over the worktable on. She had made coffee and tea, and she was putting four sheetpans of something into the oven. Marcus checked on Angus and saw he was still dead to the world and he seemed like he had barely moved all night. He got up and checked on Minos who was feeding the injured fairy something from a tiny mug.
"He's awake," Marcus was surprised. "How is he, Minos?" Minos looked up, smiling, and he gave Marcus a thumbs up sign. "I'm so glad he's doing better. Robert and Jess are going to be elated. His glow is much, much brighter. Minos, you are a genius." Minos laughed and shook his head no, not believing for a moment he was any sort of genius. "I'm going for coffee. Would you like some?" Minos made some signs but Marcus wasn't sure what he was saying. He did understand, though that Minos would like coffee. Marcus found one of the tiny mugs from the dollhouse stuff and he used an eyedropper to put some coffee in it.
"Morning, Simone," Marcus yawned.
"I didn't wake you, did I?" she asked. "I tried to be quiet."
"No, but that coffee smells fantastic."
"It's Edward's favorite blend that he buys for the house in Tuscany," she said. "I have to admit, its quickly becoming one of my favorites too. I think it tastes just as good as it smells. Minos is finally trying some coffee?"
"He doesn't drink it?"
"He's never had it. Angus and Edward always offer it, but he's never wanted to try it. I hope he likes it," Simone said. Marcus poured his own cup of coffee and then took Minos his tiny cup. Minos smelled the coffee, and he clearly loved the smell of it. He tasted it, and looked up at Marcus, eyes wide, and then gave a big smile and nodded.
"You like it?" Marcus asked. Minos nodded. Some of the other Fae who had been on duty all night came to see what Minos was drinking. Marcus filled some more tiny coffee mugs. They drank the coffee, and for a moment, some of the Fae started to pinball around the room in all sorts of random directions. Marcus looked at Minos, and Minos was laughing uncontrollably. "What in the world..." Marcus began. Minos pointed at the coffee cup and pretended to have caffeine jitters. "Oh, is this what happens to a fairy who is caffeine sensitive? It makes some of you bonkers?" Marcus asked. Minos giggled and nodded.
"I love his laugh," Simone laughed. "Egg casserole and a hashbrown casserole is in the oven. I made a fruit salad last night, and pan au chocolate is in the oven. The construction crew will be able to eat before daylight."
"Thank you," Marcus said. "I'm sure it will be amazing."
