I know you've all been waiting for news on Hogwarts, so this is how it's gonna go:
Our activity check ends on September 5th. That means that characters you haven't posted with since the update will be uncolored and their claims will be taken down. So be sure to get that done!
Since we're going to need a little time to re-open the Hogwarts forums in their entirety, we don't want to do that on the same day we're editing claims and groups and all that. So the plan is to try something a little bit new.
Many of our members who have Professor characters are currently in school, or are about to be starting school. Rather than demand that someone puts up a post for their class (if their staff member teaches a class, of course), we're going to give professors a bit of extra time.
Hogwarts will open for professors and staff on September 3. That's tomorrow! There are some links that professors (And Staff!!) have to read before they post anything, so I'll send a PM out with direct links just in case anything gets lost. Professors will have until September 10 to post their first lesson.
For students, we will open Hogwarts on the 6th, which is a Sunday, and the first thread you ought to look at will be the Hogwarts Opening Feast. As usual
And then you can look at some surprise threads I've started as well as any classes that have been created by that point.
Sound good? A few class reminders:
1. ANYBODY can join ANY class. Year doesn't matter. You may want to consider how many of your students to send if you have a lot, because you absolutely should NOT post back to back to back. Nor should you post, wait for only one other person to reply, then post again. Think of it as a rotation! Once each person (member, not character) gets a turn you can reply.
-Note, the exception to this rule comes in if the thread has been quiet for several days, or if the Professor starts a new lesson, as lessons will almost all be within that same thread. More info on that soon
2. Keep posts SHORT! No more than 400 words, please. Preferably less. It gives others a chance as well as allows the action to build rather than just throwing it all out and then having nothing to say.
3. Be careful about God-modding or metagaming, just like in other threads.
4. Let your students fail sometimes. House points are going to be used IC, rather than counted up anywhere by the Admins, but it isn't fun if nobody gets in trouble or messes up in classes. None of your students are great at everything, and they shouldn't be.
If you have any questions, post them here. But again, note that a sort of guide to classes will be posted for Students just as it will be for Professors and for Staff Members, too.
