Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Lesson Regulation Possibly Empty Lesson Regulation Possibly

I am not sure if you do have a way of regulating the lessons or how the lessons work behind the scenes but I know that Hogwarts is a school and having lessons is a big factor in that to create the feel of Hogwarts and then establish new relationships and interact with characters you perhaps wouldn't have.
I started PA in April and there has only been one lesson, potions - which I personally thought was incredibly fun and in all honest it's been my favourite thread ever! I simply loved it!

So what I'm really asking/suggesting is more lessons!! I noticed most of the teachers haven't been online in ages to role-play them and I don't know if like they should be replaced because I am sure they are good role-players, maybe just add a few extras.

Ohh and make herbology a lesson, I mean you have the greenhouses forum and not that it's my favourite or anything haha ;-)

PS: This isn't huge priority suggestion ATM I guess because Hogwarts is closed for the summer

Lesson Regulation Possibly Empty Re: Lesson Regulation Possibly

Lessons don't work. No one goes. Members complain when there are none. Members never go. Teachers don't make them because students never attend.

[/endrant]

What we've been discussing is making a handful of smaller groups so that, essentially, classes are more like tutors and those who dislike large threads but still want the interaction can have them and, hopefully, we'll mix characters heavily embroiled in their own personal plotting with ones that aren't so that the two sets meet, etc.

So, for example, we'd have a teacher.

Say it's Eli - for a start. He teaches DADA.

Instead of having the world and his wife turn up for a massive thread that dies two pages in he'll have four students so there's five people in one thread.

E.g. Eli, Hallie, Cerelia, Della, Grace.

Eli would post, then Hallie, Cer, Della, Grace, Eli etc.

(I stress the need for order here, people. It's necessary and polite - just a general footnote, there)

It's smaller, more likely to create some plotting and it gets the teachers talking more candidly with some of the students.

What I've also been thinking about is getting rid of closed threads in Hogwarts and making it so teachers wander about through them.

As per the teachers - I can't remember who they are but we're going to overhaul Hogwarts and most of the other important jobs and remove those who aren't interested and refuse to be active in favour for the enthusiastic, eager and active.

Ooo that is actually a really good idea the smaller tutor sessions! It would really work, and if say the four people in the same lesson were all in the same year or of similar age it'd also be a bit more realistic I guess.

I like the idea of an order too, at first I was a bit unsure but now I think about it it would probably work better unless one person doesn't reply and everyone is waiting for them, in which case it would probably be acceptable for the next person to reply maybe? I don't know.

Thanks for the info Eli Smile
