GENERAL APPEARANCE: James is not a straight-out good-looking guy. He is pretty special in appearance, but the more you talk with him, the better he looks. Not necessarily because he's friendly, but because the more you look, the more you accept.

PERSONALITY

STRENGTHS & WEAKNESSES:
Strengths: reading, being logical, noticing every single detail, very good at legilimens and occlumency, very smart.

Weaknesses: talking to people, understanding others emotions, slightly unsociable, has a sociopaths tendencies, also tendencies of Asperger.

LIKES & DISLIKES:
Likes to read, solve puzzles, intervene in other peoples lives (not humbly so...), playing the violin, his daughter.
Dislikes too much people, people trying to read him, when his daughter tells him to stop playing the violin.

GOALS: No particular goals, maybe to be able to keep his job this time around.

HABITS & QUIRKS: He often sits in complete silence and thinks, or plays the violin to think. He has a habit of reading people (not with legilimens or any magical helps, just by observation) and saying what he reads out loud without knowing it might give offence.

BOGGART: The death of his daughter.

PATRONUS: When his daughter, for the first time, managed to deduce what he was about to do. She had been nine at the time.

DEMENTOR: When his father beat him for the first time.

VERITASERUM: That though he hates Death Eaters, he would not wish to be without them, considering to how they manage to spice up the everyday life that he finds oh-so-boring.

PERSONALITY: James is very stoic. He isn't moved by anything, and he has never truly loved someone. He only cares for what he lets himself care for, that is his rule. But his daughter managed to evade that rule, and he ended up with caring for her despite his better judgment. He can be looked upon as very cold, and at times he is. But he is never evil. He does only what is good, though the way he does it, can make others think it isn't good. He doesn't have a problem with walking up to people and talking to them, his problem is that he doesn't know the ground rules for what one can talk about to people.

CHARACTER HISTORY

Early Years: James was born into a rich, but uncaring family. His father was a sociopath and his mother was never there. James found himself unable to really fear his father's actions, though normal people would've. This was probably because he had inherited some of his father's sociopathic tendencies. But even so, James was relieved when the day came and he would leave for Hogwarts. But it wasn't just his father that was cruel to him. Being born a Gaunt, wasn't an easy task. People would assume that, hey, you could be a new Voldemort, but no one seemed to realize that just because you were a descendant of Salazar Slytherin, it didn't mean you had to be cruel. Though he understood why. His great-grandmother had been raped by Morfin Gaunt, who had given birth to his grandfather. Not a man James knew at all, as he had died before James was born.

Hogwarts Years: At Hogwarts, James had found solitude and peace. He didn't have friends, though some people were persistent enough to make him appreciate them. But he was often alone and unaccompanied by anyone. He really didn't mind it, though. But with an apt mind, he quickly learned, and without the disturbance others had with many friends and social events, he had more time than most to focus on school. In his fifth year, he quickly learned legilimens and occlumency, though it wasn't before his seventh year that he truly mastered it. And ever since then, he has practiced it more and more.

Adulthood: The day of his graduation, a party was held for their year, and people did everything in their power to get him drunk, and eventually, they succeeded. What happened that night, was a bit unclear to him, but it ended up with him becoming a father. But though he had wanted nothing of the like, Morgana had been a true blessing to him. Her mother had died at childbirth, and James should probably have been more sorry about that than he had been, but he never really knew her, and he was half a sociopath.

Then he started working. With his grades, he could probably start anywhere, but with his personality... Well, people liked to keep their secrets, but the signs that most people didn't notice was part of James' everyday life. So he was often given a job and then fired a few months later. And so it was all the time. It didn't matter if he did his job brilliantly, his personality was not accepted. So, he was working on that, but not for his own sake, just for Morgana's sake. He also meets discussions about his ancestry upon introducing himself as a Gaunt and difficulties of getting a job because of this.

RP EXPERIENCE: I've been RP-ing for well over a year now.

HOW YOU FOUND US: I searched google for 'Harry Potter forummotion' and Forumotion.com gave me a list over forums. Yours was second or the top one.

MAIN CHARACTER: I plan on making two more charries, where this one and his daughter will be my mains. But I'll try to keep to three charries only, as I've noticed the difficulties of keeping up with all of them if it's more.

PURPOSE OF CHARACTER: This is my first charrie, and I look forward to RP-ing with him. I want to do as much as I can with him, but I'm not quite sure what, yet. I'm considering making him a Healer, or the Head of House Slytherin.

James,

We've been studying your app, but there are some problems. We have a list of canon families, here, https://www.pottersarmy.net/t10313-canon-list. And the Gaunt family was not included on that list because, as near as we could determine, there didn't seem to be a continuation of that family line and most likely would not have decendants at this point in the future.

Second, we have a policy on PA that we don't admit characters with mental illness/developmental disabilities because sometimes they have not always been treated with dignity and sensitivity when we allowed it. It doesnt appear, that even if we could find a way to allow the Gaunt family, that we could separate the mental illness from it that Rowlings suggests in canon. And that would be an additional reason why we would not allow the Gaunts on PA.

However--I do love the way you write. I love the Sherlockian framework to James. (I'm a Sherlock Holmes nut! So the multiple homages to Holmes is lovely for me to see.) I really, really would like to see him in some manner on the boards. Perhaps an original character that is not a canon family. Please don't give up. Just re-frame him. And do, by all means, keep the Downey pb! Its great!
