Disguises

"Damn bodgy lizard!"

Wally was frustrated, to say the least. Her chameleon, Darwin, had been riding atop her shoulder when some idiot had released some fireworks in the hall. Naturally, the idiot had been caught very quickly (he was still holding the Weasleys bag when the nurse had spotted him, laughing like a moron) but it had been enough to terrify Darwin.

And now, she couldn't find him. He had quickly blended into the floor, or wall, or wherever it was he was hiding. She knew for a fact that he was not on her as she had given herself a thorough pat down. And she could not summon him, as there were too many nurses and prefects around.

This was going to take all day.

Nick was just calmly roaming around the castle when some stupid fifth year realised fireworks in the school, next thing Nick knew there was a lizard like creature sitting on the railing infront of him. Were lizards allowed in Hogwarts? No. Was Nick going to give it to the headmaster? No. Was he going to find who it belonged to? Yes.

He conjured a small cardboard box and, much to his dismay, when he tried to catch it, he failed. Soon after the creature turned invisible it scurried off somewhere. He would not be able to catch it, but like the nice person he was he'd track it down and find who it belonged to.

Wally sighed heavily and stopped in the middle of her search, reaching her hands up to gather her long, blonde hair into a high ponytail. If she was going to start a real search for Darwin, she was going to prepare to her her hands dirty and get a little sweaty. She had to find him quickly, to ensure he didn't get squashed or anything.

She began running her hands along the creases of the floor, feeling for scales rather than stones. It took only a few minutes for her to realize this was going to be a ridiculous endeavor. She looked up to see someone else looking, supposedly for the same chameleon. "Oh, I can look by myself, it's fine."

Nick looked up to see a girl. She looked to be the same age as him but she had a vibe that told him she was younger than him. Soon he realised where he knew her from. Wasn't she the girl that did the spice thing with that Keith dude. From what he observed about her appearance, the lizard thing was her pet.

So she didn't want his help. He was ok with that and it was perfectly understandable. Nobody wanted help from somebody they didn't know. "I'm Nick, Nick Potter" he introduced himself. As he walked away he stepped on something squishy. When he looked down to see what it was he saw that it was the lizard's tail. He quickly picked it up and put it in the box.

He introduced himself - a strange response to the assurance that she neither needed, nor wanted, his assistance. However, she responded automatically, "Wally." As far as she knew, she was the only one in Hogwarts to go by Wally, so she never had a problem excluding her last name. Her last name was plain enough to mean nothing, unless they knew her siblings. And she did not want to deal with anyone who knew even the slightest about her siblings.

Thankfully, however, he began to leave. She turned when she heard a small squish. Her heart momentarily stopped as she turned around. The shock had caused Darwin to turn his usual green and she found, luckily, it had only been his tail. The Nick boy placed Darwin in the box he had conjured. Wally stepped forward, putting her hands out for the box. "Thank you."

An idea struck her. "Hey, want a candy? As my way of saying thanks? I just got a bunch from a care package from my mum, and there's no way I could eat all of it."

Candy? Nick liked candy. But there was something about this girl that made him feel like she was up to something. And she dealt drugs. He didn't care though. "Sure I like candy" he said with a grin on his face. The only reason he said yes was because she was cute, and blonde, and gave him some sort of an odd sexual feeling that blinded his judgement. Nick liked blondes almost as much as he liked candy. "So why exactly do you have a lizard" Nick asked quietly. He never knew anybody with a lizard.

She reached into her pocket, withdrawing the prototypes of new Sugar she had been making. It was sort of like rock candy, but the veins inside of it were laced with Sugar. She thought the effects would have the same head rush and the addictive qualities, with less of the other side effects. She held out the candies for him.

He asked her about Darwin and, to keep him distracted from considering what he was eating, she said, "My dad is a Magizoologist and said I could have any pet I wanted. I went through a big book of animals, and I liked the chameleons the best. I've had Darwin ever since."
