Shouting Impersonations (Open)

Scarlett heard footsteps in the hall. Though Hogwarts was a large castle, and there were alway footsteps coming from somewhere. However these footsteps were coming from the left. Which was not a good sign as she was rather certain she had just snuck past some older years. Older years she wasn't in the mood to deal with.

All she could do was sigh.

She was not giving up her ground. Or what little ground she had considering the fact she was hiding behind a statue and her only viable escape option was to her left. As to her right was a bit of a present for the two people snogging in the nearby broom closet that she had little desire to step on. Even if the boy inside the closet didn't really deserve it as he had nothing to do with making the little third year girl cry in the main hall at dinner.

Then she heard a noise from the right. With a gulp she sighed and got out of her hiding place, and ran down the hall and said " If I see you I'll give you a detention. " in her most commanding voice. Hopefully they'd run too. As impersonating a prefect, or whatever suck-up squad they were called these days probably was not something she wanted a detention for.

Even worse she was rather certain she had no desire to speak to anyone today even if they were an ally.

Destrey tended not to think of other people as impinging on her territory. She walked around Hogwarts as though she was enclosed in a bubble and people simply steered around it. Whether it was because her expression suggested that if they didn't get out of the way, she would most likely walk over them or because of her family's reputation, she didn't know. Or care.

From ahead, a younger voice yelled out something about giving detentions. It gave Destrey pause, not because it sounded young (many of the prefects weren't even in their fifth year yet) but because this was one of the few times when she wasn't doing something detention-worthy. She had harassed other students in class before, right under the teacher's nose, and not got a detention for it, but now she was being threatened with one for walking down a hallway? It seemed unlikely.

Mentally, she ran through all of the prefects she could remember. She couldn't imagine any of them would have anything against her, unless it was Keith Nicholas playing a particularly stupid practical joke.

"Close your eyes and you shan't see me," she suggested, before giving chase to the retreating child.

Closing her eyes did not seem at all logical. Of course neither did the footsteps behind her that told her to do such. Footsteps she could tell from the sound of the feet were probably faster than her own. Hiding would be best. However there was not anywhere to hide. The best she had was turning a corner which wouldn't work.

Who wanted a detention? Or who would really care enough to learn the voice of every prefect to tell the difference?

Apparently she'd met someone who was seriously stupid. Or a prefect. Either way they sounded like they could run faster so she stopped and stood against a wall and put her hand over her eyes covering them. Of course her fingers were slightly open so she could see through them.

If she was going to be caught it might be better to at least see whomever it was approach. So she removed her hand from her face and looked towards the girl. With nervous tones she said " Running after people once you shout that they can get away isn't fair. "

The fact nothing was fair was a minor detail. As was the fact that she'd been the one to shout that in the first place not whomever was chasing ( and now accusing of such).

Unlike most Slytherin girls, Destrey didn't mind running. So far as she'd been able to ascertain, it was unbefitting a pureblood girl to be seen running anywhere once they were over the age of eleven and it was for this very reason she indulged in the activity.

She'd hardly gone a dozen steps before she was stopped short by a little blonde standing hard up against the wall as though she hoped if she did what Destrey had said and didn't look, the older girl might run right past without noticing she was there.

It might have been cute if the girl had been about eight years younger. She had to be at least second year, maybe even older.

"When did I say I'd let you get away?"

Destrey crossed her arms across her chest and looked down her nose at the youngster. Trying to get Damitrius on her side last year hadn't worked all too well, but this girl was a Ravenclaw and might be more malleable if she could only get her head on straight.

"When did I say I'd let you get away?"

Never. In fact Scarlett was fully aware she was the one who had shouted that before. As it had been her. So she tried to slouch more against the wall to look as small as she could. Not hitting her growth spurt yet was definitely an advantage.

She shrugged in response to the girls comment with a raised eyebrow.

At least not a prefect or an official suck-up squad member. Plus crossed arms was usually a defensive posture, she'd used it many times when she was younger. Well until she figured out it was really hard to draw ones wand quickly from that position.

Then she moved her leg to the left and tried to slide down the wall slowly just to see what the girl would do.

Awww. She was scared, how sweet!

But then, a lot of people were scared of Destrey, and she didn't exactly know how to make them un-scared of her, a problem she'd definitely have to overcome if she wanted a real human toy.

"So, you're a Ravenclaw," she tried. "I don't suppose you know my sister Lusk? Second year, talks like a text book?"

Second year? Textbooks? With a smile she said " Not my combination. " To be honest of her housemates she was probably one of the least likely to be seen with a textbook. That was even when one subtracted that the detail that not being seen was a goal of hers.

It was a pity she had already concluded that she couldn't outrun the girl.

Part of her debated if it would have been better to lie about knowing the girl. Then she realized probably not as sisters talked and she liked to avoid books. Plus the odds were that those kids would come out of that closet and see there surprise and she wasn't far enough away for comfort.

Scarlett said " Closest I get to talking text books is my old care of magical creatures one. " She said rather bored " Should I know her? " After all one could tell a lot about people from who they thought you should know or care about.

An amused smile played across Destrey's face as she wondered if it was possible for dim little girls to be sorted into Ravenclaw. The Hat always said it looked for lovers of knowledge, not people who were clever.

"Um, yeah, because our brother Monroe was in your house last year and he knows everyone," she shrugged. "Also, Lusk isn't exactly quiet about being a know-it-all."

"So, now you know. I'm Destrey Ashcroft, one of the notorious evil twins," she relished the notoriety this nickname brought, even though the nickname itself thoroughly irritated her.

"Although, technically, we're not really twins. I think it's important to set the record straight on that score. Now, since I've been so nice as to introduce myself, I think you should do the same."

The girl talked a lot. It oddly made her smile as most people did not refer to themselves as part of a pair of evil twin. Nor did most people tell there family history and idiosyncrasies as part of an introduction when they randomly met someone in the hallway. It almost made things simpler as she usually was curious enough to size others up.

This girl just laid it all out there.

The older girl was probably harmless. Rather calmly she said " Scarlett Tripple. " keeping things simple. No life history, or explanation how she had no siblings or other family at Hogwarts. With a slight smirk she said " When giving yourself a title most people don't advertise that they are evil about. "

Then she paused and added " All I am is notoriously boring. " Of course she wasn't, but if they were advertising desired reputations she wanted hers to be boring. As she'd be happy to be ignored. Scarlett said " I'm also good at making cupcakes. " Perhaps she should hand the girl something useful about herself.

Was her introduction just as odd? Probably.

Destrey's smile pinched in, lending it a cynical look.

"Well, Scarlett Tripple, I didn't exactly choose it myself," she said.

Her forefinger tapped slowly against her lips as she thought.

"Cupcakes," she mused. "You're right. That does make you profoundly boring. Especially since the house elves probably make much nicer ones."

"Do you want to become interesting?"
