Felix was at a loss. He was bleeding profusely from his right arm, blood dripping onto the pavement below him, leaving a trail so bright he sucked in his breath, hoping no one would see it this late. His foot dragged on the ground behind him, obviously useless, his ankle either broken or severely sprained and no longer functioning. Cuts fell across his handsome, dirty, face. His nose had been broken recently, and blood dripped from that as well. It was a wonder Felix was still around.

He had been back in London for some time now, and it was the worst decision of his life. Why could he not stay away from the country that hated him? Well.. for one, he had to know if Naomi was doing okay, but whenever he ventured into areas that he could find out, he was seen, and either chased by aurors, or beat up and left to wait for aurors to find him. He always got away though.

Felix didn't have a choice, but he was growing tired. Finally, exhausted, Felix slumped into an alley behind a small muggle health clinic, one of those free ones that had some sort of funding from some rich person who wanted to look good in the public eye. Of course that's exactly what Felix needed, he quickly opened the backdoor, and stepped in, eyeing the supplies of medicinal stuff, pulling out a splint for his ankle, and a few bandages as well.

He cleaned himself off in the sink, washing the cuts and bruises carefully, wincing all the while, before finding some muggle disinfectant, and put it on the cuts, bandaging it, and opening his backpack. He had stolen the bag from a store not far away, and it still had the tag on it as he loaded it with medical supplies, and any food he could find. Simple snacks, but loaded in carbs and sugars, exactly what he needed.

Felix took one last look around the shop and headed back into the alley, lugging his backpack with him as he glanced around the alley again, feeling better, but not out of the clear yet, he was much closer to Diagon Alley than he liked, and pulling his cloak around his shoulder tighter, started off in the opposite direction.

Khaat had lost another piece of someting that mattered. Sparks was gone. And with it, her anger rose. She would rebel, rebuild. Fight. She had walked in te ashes of what she had built. She had looked for life and could not find it in the soot. And, dressed all in black, she realized it did not matter. The soot, the death, blended in. She pulled the full black hood of her cloak over her head and walked slowly down the brick street of Diagon Alley. The slow pace was so misleading for the anger and bitterness she had within.

And then she saw him. He was there, in the streetlight. She would have known that silhouette anywhere. She didn't need to see the face. The man who had believed he was all that. Clearly he was not. Not now. She allowed herself to continue waking without changing her pace, the heels of her boots clicking against the brick.

She reached him. He surely didn't look like all that.

"What's the matter?" she asked in a low menacing hiss. "Lost your edge, have you? How unfortunate." If there was one thing she was becoming quite good it, it was sarcasm.

Felix heard the heeled boots, and the second the person spoke, he knew who it was. "Hello Mrs. Lupin, still Mrs I hope?" He asked, not changing pace, limping on his hurt foot, his expression unchanging, not even glancing at Khaat. Somehow he had expected this to happen. At his worst, his old enemy had to come back to bite him in the ass, he was just surprised she had stopped and talked instead of killing him from behind, but then again, 'the good guys' were all about honor weren't they?

"I heard about your bar.. dreadful, unfortunately I couldn't help in that one." He said throwing a glance towards her, and wincing, he knew he looked bad, but seeing the woman he had almost killed, the woman who had gotten him into a lot of trouble in the first place.. well it was a slap to his already damaged face.

"Seems you good guys aren't having the best of luck in life these days? Missing people all over the place.." Felix let a smirk slide across his face, as he turned to look down at the woman, freezing in his spot just below a street light, tugging his cloak over his arm to hide the fact that it was bandaged. "Tell me.. how's life without the little redhead in it?"

She largely ignored his attempts to unwind her with more of his mind games. he truly ad no clue, did he? She was becoming more like her father every day. Barker had miscalculated. She still believed in the greater good, but sometimes honor was for fools. She preferred to operate in the grey now, like her father did. It didn't matter what course one took to achieve the greater good. The greater good was, after all, somewhat subjective. And her own greater good was in the end game. No bloody matter how she made it happen.

"I tire of you torturing others without appreciating the so-called delicacies of your art. You truly do need to know the fruits of your own labor. Don't you think?" she said, almost a sneer on her voice. He deserved no warning, so she gave none. She fired a bolt of energy into the ankle he limped upon. If she were lucky, it would shatter. And he would not escape the pain that he so freely inflicted upon others.

Felix almost resigned himself to his death in that moment. There was nothing more he could do, if he honestly thought he would get away from Khaat Lupin this time.. he was fooling himself. The woman had a vengeance to carry out upon him, of course he didn't know just what extent her anger was, or how much she had changed. He knew about her father of course, and he knew her father was not able to inflict a lot more hurt upon someone than Khaat ever could, so he wasn't expecting the suddenly crack of bone shattering as his entire leg gave out from under him, a searing pain traveling up his leg.

"Wha.." Felix crumpled to his knees, taken by surprise, a small yelp of pain escaping his lips. When he realized what she did, he took a deep shuddering breath and mentally assessed his situation. Without his ankle operational, it was not going to be easy to get away, by apparation or by foot. The splint he had put it in was not going to get him far, and with the entire bone cracked in the way he suspected, he was pretty much at her mercy at this point.

"Someone's on their period.." He muttered darkly, his eyes finally jerking up to meet hers, a small smile crossing his face. "Bet you waited a long time to do that eh?" He asked smiling at her and shrugging. "Woman.. you have no idea how much I've waited to see you crack." He gave a small shakey laugh and shook his head before extending his arms to the side. "What you going to do Kitty Khaat? Have a plan? I mean.. really the best thing you could do is kill me, the worst is torture me forever.. I'm not really opposed to either at this point."

"You truly aren't the sharpest blade in the drawer, are you?" she laughed, truly amused. "Cracked? Is that what you think? Given enough time, I probably could unwind that delusion from even your limited mind, but I have no desire to." She preferred to give him as little information as possible. "I don't need a plan." She heard the very quiet sound of someone apparating in. In her peripheral vision, she saw a dark figure in the shadows. It was not going to be seen. It merely watched. She believed she recognized the outline, at least enough. And the fact that it didn't interfere amused her even more.

"You would be wise to not try to judge me because you would be wrong. That's part of your problem, you know that? You don't know me nearly as well as you thought you did. For example, would the Khaat you know do this?" Straightfaced and emotionless, she fired another spell, but this time at his knee--above the now broken ankle. "You do have 185 joints left now by my calculation. We could make this last awhile."

Felix let out a small bark of laughter, smirking at her, his arms falling to his sides again. "You aren't cracked? Then pray tell, what do you call this behavior.. before you couldn't even lift a finger against me! And now you seem to think you had this in you all along? You've cracked Kitty Khaat! Maybe I didn't do it, but someone did, and for that I salute th-" He was cut off his last word when his knee cracked under the direction of her wand, and he fell down to the side, onto his other hip, glaring up at her.

"Don't get cocky now." He smirked, but he was sweating now, a thin layer of sweat appearing on his forehead and upper lip. "You're going to start sounding like me dear. Do any more and I'll start to think you stooped down to my level." He smirked and spit on the ground at her feet, the spit was tainted red, and it was obvious he had bit his cheek when she had broken his knee.

"I bet even now you're afraid of me.. honestly, I'm glad you're getting revenge.. serves me right doesn't it? But then again.. what happened to poor Kitty Khaat's morals? Isn't it bad to stoop down to my poor pathetic level?" He let out a loud bark of laughter again, and looked up at her, his face smiling, but his eyes showing his pain.

Snap! Her wand fired again, this time at his hipjoint. "I84," she counted calmly. "I'm glad you're taking this so lightly. It will help you to weather it later on, won't it? You truly didn't study much more of your magical history other than what was in your textbook, did you? If you had, it might well have given you the leg up on this that you so clearly might benefit from now. It looks like you could use one."

Actually, she thought, he probably should not have reminded her about Chase. That only would give him a free pass for her to damage a few more things. He had presumed much about Khaat but knew so little. She might have been rather broken at one time, but even elementary muggle biology had proven that a broken bone didnt break in the same place twice once healed. The bone could break above or below but not in the same place. She was stronger now than he had ever dreamed. And as long as he was trying to figure out where her morals went, she wasn't going to tell him. The true history of magic should have pointed him in the right direction, if he weren't too thick to catch it. If he were, then he would have to do without the second piece of information she'd given him.

"The only one who appears to be doing any stooping tonight is you. I do seem to be on my own two feet here," she said. "As I said, clearly not the sharpest blade in the drawer."

Felix let out a sharp yell this time, his hip joint cracking loudly, his hand keeping him upright, but it was shaking now, sweat dripped from his forehead, and mingled with his unshaven jaw, which clenched and unclenched in an attempt to stay quiet, to not show how much pain he was in. He knew he was in trouble, he had known from the moment she had opened her mouth, and yet he hadn't raised a wand, hadn't apparated away when he had the chance.

Even now, he could probably get away if he really wanted to, all he had to do was whistle, but he didn't.. he let the torment go on, but why? Why was he letting it go on? Maybe he really was just broken now. She had the upper hand, and she deserved to have the upper hand, she deserved to inflict upon him just about every bad thing she could, including the taunting words, and the broken joints, one after another, after another. She'd probably leave him a broken mess on the pavement to be picked up by the authorities later, but did he really care?

Felix didn't say anything as she spoke, his jaw was clenched to tightly to keep from yelling out, but after a moment, an almost despaired sounding gasp escaped his throat, and tears gathered in his eyes, he immediately dropped his head as a look of pure exhaustion and hopelessness flashed across it. Felix Barker was tired, too tired to even keep up the facade that was staying strong for this torment.

His arm shook as he stared at the ground, small droplets of either sweat or tears hitting the pavement below his face as he stared at it, his other hand moving in front of him to steady himself, body overcome by shudders as he felt the full pain of his joints breaking right from underneath him. He tried to keep his head up, to clench his jaw and look strong, but Felix didn't really have a will to keep on fighting anymore, and it was obvious in his broken figure at Khaat's feet.

Post by Edward Donohue Thu Dec 06, 2012 2:22 am

Edward's 6 and a half foot frame was imposing in daylight but at night, when he was dressed in his hunting gear, he looked completely malevolent. Especially when he'd already been out working. Well, in a practical sense, he'd only killed three of late. As a favor, he was particularly on the lookout for Greybacks. A dead Greyback brought bonus money. And, if his homework were correct, the little tart this man hung out with might interest some of his private contractors.

He watched the Lupin woman with interest. She seemed to have things under control. He wondered if she were going to actually off him. It was in Edward's best interest if she did not. But he was not beyond her doing whatever she wanted, short of that.

He thrust his hands in his pockets and walked out of the shadows into Diagon Alley. He walked up beside her and looked down into the eyes of her prey.

"Well, if that doesn't look like it stings," he said to the man. Then he spoke to her. "How's the wand practice going?"

"Swimmingly," came the deadpanned reply from the woman.

"If you intend to live," Edward said to the limp man on the street, "perhaps you ought to make it worth my while to stop her before you die of traumatic shock."
