Dueling for Dummies Empty Dueling for Dummies

What another wonderful day to be throwing spells at someone! Aden himself had never dueled anyone in his life, most of his magical knowledge concentrated on learning simple, yet basic charms. He didn't like that WIndgardahoo spell, it just sounded silly to his ears. He wanted to learn real spells, spells that would shoot flaming infernos out of the tip of his wand and set everything on fire! Although, he was pretty convinced that no spell of that magnitude existed, let alone could he even think about conjuring up something of such power. It was an interesting thought though, and he really wanted to see if he could ever make a spell like that. Knowing at how slow the pace went in classes though, he wasn't really expecting anything useful to be taught until the next month or so.

Might as well learn on my own then, he thought to himself, a proud smile on his face.

So that brought him to the dueling hall, when no one else was around. Sure, he had the feeling that he shouldn't be in a place like that, yet at the same time, he really didn't care. He just wanted to try making up some spells and see if he could possibly do anything in the process. He had entered in stealthily, trying very hard to be quiet, but that plan failed when he backed up into one of the target dummies that had near the front door, causing the dummy to fall over nosily, a clanging of it's fake battle armor ringing through the room. He had cringed heavily during the sound, expecting a professor to pop out at any moment and bring him in for detention. Luckily though, no one ever showed up, and he was all alone in the hall. "Might as well get started," he said to himself, climbing up on the dueling table they had set up.

He stood there for a minute or so, trying to figure out what kind of spells he could conjure up. "Uhh..." he said to himself again. Perhaps this would be more difficult than he initially thought it would. "Rooty-tooty, point and shooty!" he said, jabbing his wand forcifully in the air. Nothing happened. "Rip-zip, find and trip!" he said, trying on a new 'spell'. Nothing happened....again. He looked down at his wand and gently patted it on the palm of his hand. Was the thing defective or something?

Alex went to patrol the Dueling room after classes, just encase people weren't trying to do spells to damage the room. Which happened very often, so he decided to rush that protection plan. Being the Head boy and all, he walked into the room and found that someone was indeed in there. He was chanting a spell that well, didn't sound like one at all. As nothing appeared out of his wand, he would just laugh in the back ground at his failing attempts.

He walked towards the dueling table, and jumped on top of it. On the other side of the long table as he smiled at the other guy. " What was that Spell, Rip-Zip, find, and trip. That's just funny bro, do you need some more random words for it to work " Making a joke as he was mocking the poor kid, He wonder if he was a hothead and going to fire off a spell at him. But he looked to young to even produce any good spells, but he would humor him, and help him if he didn't mind talking to a powerful Slytherin.

Aden jumped a bit when he heard the older kid enter the room, turning quickly towards the guy. He seemed to be quite older, his negative demeanor indicating that he was a possible option for Slytherin. He looked familiar, he believed he had seen him in the Great Hall at some time, Aden believing he had some sort of seat of power. He wondered if this guy would end up getting him in trouble.

By the kid's remark, he felt a little irritated, yet he knew that he was new. It wasn't as embarrassing when you were only the first year kid and had no idea as to what to do. As his response, he only laughed momentarily at the guy's response, for some reason that last part making him do so. "Yeah, I could definitely use some words that would work," he said, feeling a tad bit embarrassed still "I don't think it's that obvious, but I'm a little new to all this magic. My parents had told me that if I just think of a spell at some point, it'll work." Wait, wasn't that to another lesson they taught him. He rubbed his hand on his face, not being able to remember as clearly since he had just ate. Food always made him a little foggy headed.

"Name's Aden. Aden Lautrec!" he said proudly, jumping down off the table and approaching the older looking guy "pleasure to meet ya!"

Alex pointed his hand at the boy, as he smiled at him. He was still very young, so he would need to grasp his power slowly. Lucky for him, he would be glad to help the poor kid out in exchange for Favors. " Well Aden, let me teach you some words....If you want I can teach you basic magic since you are just learning " He smiled at the kid, as he would think of something funny to do to him.

" Novo Color! " A pink light shot from his wand as it made it's way to the kid's hair. It was not a offensive spell, it simply changed the color of his hair and that was all really. His hair was now Hot Pink, which he found funny as he chuckled at his own work. " It is a simple spell that changes the color of things, it should be easy for you to do...but first take a look at your hair " He handed Aden a small mirror for him to check out his new hair do.

Aden blinked a couple of times at the guy's unknown spell. Was something supposed to happen or something? He began to feel his head in an attempt to find some sort of alteration, if he had gills or anything like that, but so far everything seemed to check out. "What did you do exactly?" he responded to the Slytherin, still feeling parts of his head, looking down to the rest of his body. The incantation had something to do with color, that's all he had managed to figure out.

Before he could search any further, the Slytherin had handed him the small mirror, Aden curious as to what the spell at done. A surprised look formed on his face, the reflection revealing that his hair had turned a dark pink! That wasn't very nice. "Hey, what the hell?" he said, grasping a small spool of his hair in between his first two fingers, letting them cascade down slowly. What worried him was if the spell was permanant or not, that really freaked him out. "So uhh...do I just recant the spell and my hair turns back to normal?" he asked curiously, holding his wand back up to his hair. "Here goes nothing, I guess. Novo Color," Nothing seemed to happen again, worrying him once again. He checked his appearance back in the mirror and smiled once he noticed that his hair was back to it's original color. He didn't look good in pink anyway.

"Well, that's a cool party trick," he said brushing through his rough hair once again, his hair looking a little more unruly now "although I'd rather stick with my original color. And you said you could teach me more basic tricks?"

Alex looked at the kid, as he seemed to be like a firecracker. He only thought about how things would go for him, but he needed to be a kind person. Of course playing with the poor kid would be interesting, and he being a Slytherin does make sense. " Calm down, it will change back to normal " He said with a soft smile as his hair would move in front of his face, covering his eyes. Making sure to blow it away from his face, looking at him with his hand rubbing his chin.

" Well I'm willing to teach you, but you have to work for me. Don't worry, I am a good teacher and I believe you can be something great, when you get older " He looked at him with a smirk, as he thought of things. He needed some people to work within different houses, to keep the peace, since he was the Head boy after all. " By the way, My name is Alex star the Head boy for this year, so what do you say? "

Aden put his arms down back to his sides, and looked back up to the face of the guy. Seemed like he really needed a good haircut or something, yet then again, he had the hair of a 15 year old goth kid...minus his hair being black. Just by judging from how this guy sounded and reacted, he was a typical kind of Slytherin, perhaps a little more ambitious than most. So far, he did seem like a nice guy, the older brother most only siblings would want.

Aden put on a smile, excitement clearly on his face. He really wanted to learn how to duel, and if anything, this guy could teach him a few good pointers. Seemed like he knew a lot more than just dueling too, perhaps this would be a good mentorship after all! "Well, sure," he said "I can help out with a couple of things if need be. But Head Boy, huh? That's some kind of honor!" He had never met with the Head Boy yet, but apparently, this was the guy. Surprising though, he had heard Slytherins were not as popular and often never became head boys. "It's nice to meet you though Alex, if I hadn't said that already. I'm a first year"

Well that went great, a new person that he can use and become friends with. Plus a reason to visit the Gryffindors without them, getting into his nose about being around. The kid was really trusting, but that was nice of him, he was like the little brother he never had. So he let his hand ruffle up his hair, as he smiled down at him.

Speaking of being the Headboy as some type of honor. He suppose that it was something great for him, so he should not look on it as a curse. Even if he already has a curse on his family name, and hated Merlin to his core. " Well it is good to know, thanks for the sweet words. Now tell me, what do you want to learn, anything at all? "

Aden placed his two fingers onto his chin, his other palm resting beneath his shoulder. He didn't really know much about magic as it was, besides what his parents had already told him, so he hadn't an idea of any specific magic. He looked back up at Alex and said "Well, I just want to learn how to duel and stuff. I'm not really sure how dueling works, but I saw a lot of stories about it. Especially hearing about that Dumbledore guy, I heard he was a powerful duelist!" For some odd reason, dueling had always been on his mind. He was a fantasizer, he always wanted to be a powerful wizard, like Dumbledore. Yet he knew he wouldn't get anywhere unless he knew how to fight.

"Do you know any powerful spells for that?" he asked out of curiosity, a prideful smile on his face "like any spells that could make someone go flying back and cause a bunch of dust and stuff to go everywhere? I heard there was a spell like that." Then again, his parents were excellent fibbers, and they often exaggerated many details in their stories. To this day, he was pretty sure his father didn't singlehandedly fight off a minotaur army with only his magic. Even to Aden, that just seemed silly.
