Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Scott rolled up the sleeves of his sweater as he walked down the hall way of the Hogwarts Express. Another summer finished where he accomplished absolutely nothing. Not that he was upset about that, he spent most of it flying around on his broom with his father and sister. Of course he spent some time down in the village annoying his muggle friends who had gotten "summer jobs". As he continued walking he nodded to some fellow students. A few hello's and even a death glare from a slytherin who looked pretty lost. He found an empty compartment and entered it as quickly as possible. It was rare to find an empty compartment this late in boarding of the train. He did a little jig as he stuffed his small bag in one of the overhead compartments. But not before grabbing todays issue of The Daily Prophet and a Quidditch Magazine.

He sat down on the seats, back against the wall facing the compartment door. He wondered if anyone would even join him. It's not like he wasn't unpopular but he had few friends. And he didn't want any weirdo's to join him. He shrugged it off as he looked out the window, they should be departing soon. He had said his goodbye's, but he hadn't seen his sister. He put his legs up on the seat, crossed them, and began to read the Daily Prophet.

Amelia had escaped the ‘iron grip’ of her overprotective older brother, Edgar, and extremely quiet younger brother, Drew. She loved her brothers just listening to arguing about Quidditch or acting like she was made of glass. Ever since she had gotten in that flying accident, they were relentless. Her mum was protective but least gave her the space to make her own choices even if they are a mistake.

“Excuse me, can I sit here?” asked Amelia “I’m Amelia Macmillan by the way.” She wished she had said her name first then asked if she could sit here. It most have been odd having an random person asking to sit with you without giving an name. She knew she was thinking too much about it. She was going to give herself an headache which were very painful as an side effect from her ‘little’ flying accident and could often lead to her to passing out if she let herself get too worked up.

Scott had been reading about the death of two Aurors very intensely when he heard a voice over the one inside his head. He looked up from his newspaper and saw a very pretty girl standing in the doorway of his compartment. She had asked to sit down, and Scott was more than happy for some company. He moved his legs back to the ground and sat up, smiling at her. "Of course!" he said happily and gesture to the seat opposite him. She looked about fifteen, and she had a very nice name. Amelia, like someone out of a fairytale, it was lovely. "I'm Scott," he said when he realized he had probably been silent for too long. "Scott Bagman."

He picked up the newspaper and folded it up. He wasn't too sure if he was going to get any reading done now. Not that he minded, company was always welcome to him, especially pretty company like Amelia. "I've seen you around before." he said realizing. "You're a Hufflepuff, right?" he asked her remembering her from certain classes. They were in the same year and had classes together since probably first year. But he never really payed any attention to anyone outside of his friend group.

Amelia sat down across from the boy. Being with any one that wasn’t family or healer the pass month was considered a blessing. She had forgotten what if was like not to have family around. She sighed; she really didn’t have a life. She really needed to get out more. At least her new company hadn’t asked her why Scottish Quidditch teams do so horribly.

“That I am. My older brother, Edgar, is in Gryffindor but he’s a seventh year,” she said with a smile. She noticed a lot of people throughout the years but rarely talked to new people. She was always afraid of judgement and rejection. She spent way too much time to her mum and her mum’s Hufflepuff friends growing up.

“I see you read the Daily Prophet,” she said still smiling “my mum just got a job as the editor of the Daily Prophet. She hates how people have ran it in the past so she chose to change it herself when she isn’t at the Ministry.” Why was she telling Scott that? She didn’t know why. “Sorry if I’m talking too much about a bit more personal stuff,” she added a bit pink in the face. She always said too much or too little.

Scott smiled at her and raised his eyebrows. "It's perfectly fine." he told her and he put his feat back up. "Yeah, I only started reading it this summer. I wanted to throw in some variety to my reading arsenal." he held up the Quidditch magazine to signify that it was pretty much all he read. "I never really liked the Daily Prophet. Mum think's most people there are corrupt." he said, emphasizing most. So not to disrespect Amelia and her mother. He propped it open again and looked for anything with the last name Macmillan written on it. But he couldn't find anything, he shrugged and looked at her again.

"So, you get a badge?" he asked her. "A Prefects badge I mean." He had received his Prefects letter in the mail previously in the summer. His father and mother had both been incredibly enthusiastic about it. His sister could have cared less of course. And he didn't blame her, he really didn't care all that much either.

Amelia flinched at the mention of Quidditch. She sighed slightly to herself, she had to stop doing that or it was going to be a long year. Are all guys into Quidditch so much? She honestly didn’t want to know that answer knowing it would damper her mood. Long as it doesn’t come into much conversation.

“Well then, that’s lovely,” said Amelia trying to act calm as possible. “If you’re looking for someone with the name Macmillan as an editor you won’t find anyone. My parents are divorced so my mum goes by her maiden surname, Bones. Susan Bones, she named me after her Auntie Amelia. By the way my mum isn’t corrupt at all; she was in Dumbledore’s Army back when she in Hogwarts, she fought against the Death Eaters her whole life and I believe she’s in other things I can’t name do to safety reason,” she added. She didn’t blame Scott for believing such things, it wasn’t his fault. Her mum was always trying to get her to understand not every parent pushed for individuality like she had. She often did sound like her mum but not because her mum had influenced her on purpose but because she wanted to be like her mum growing up and to be honest she still does. She admires her mum’s strength and wisdom.

“My mum was quite proud since she had never made Perfect, back then she didn’t want to be anything important. If it wasn’t for her the Ministry would have boggarts and other spirits wondering around pestering and scaring people. I don’t know what my pa thinks; we haven’t talked in a few months. My brothers found it a good reason to tease me, I don’t mind that since I know they do it in a loving manner,” she said softly. If she understands any guys at all it would have to be her brothers. Three basic rules there: Quidditch is like God, all food is good and if there is an girl in the room don’t even try talking to them.
