Summer had finally arrived with a stifling heat wave that had left many weather(wo)men stumped as to where it had come from, most citing high pressure while others admitted they just, honestly, had no clue. The reality was that the heat wave was the result of high pressure but it wasn’t natural high pressure. It was caused when the Swedish and Norwegian national teams played Quidditch at ten thousand feet, something that only the Scandinavians did for reasons no one really liked to discuss. Impressively, they managed to move the winds and, for the fifth time since the turn of the nineteenth into the twentieth century, they blighted Britain with a heat wave. Alistair wasn’t exactly about to complain. Four years spent in Azkaban really made you grateful for any sunshine you could get. Staying inside in the apothecary was the last thing Alistair wanted to do and today he was on his own, a side-effect of having hired teenage family members. Thanks, Lorcan. He thought, bitterly.

Honestly, Alistair was becoming restless. His father’s influence in the Death Eater faction had made it rather laborious and he felt all the more like he was part of a firm rather than a family he could waltz in an out of when he so pleased. He also really, really couldn’t stand the apothecary. Still, he had very little choice in the matter if he wanted to keep a job and a roof over his head. His release from Azkaban had been important for him in terms of being able to live his life but he was hardly someone people wanted to hire – unless of course you had a shop in Knockturn Alley which of course he couldn’t go to work in because the Ministry would flock to him if he even so much as stepped into the purportedly sinister area of London. Alistair had to play the white man for a while and though he had been doing it well enough, his patience was beginning to run thin, his desire for something more interesting to happen was beginning to drive him barmy.

His distraction was not beneficial to him in the slightest. That morning had been spent brewing potions in the back room of the apothecary, leaving one of his siblings out in the front of the shop to restack shelves and serve the customers when they decided to purchase their goods. Alistair had been brewing all sorts from Veritaserum to potions that helped with morning sickness – the latter of which was becoming increasingly popular though he couldn’t for the life of him figure out why as it was never any pregnant-looking women buying the potion, always men! Alistair’s mind was, regrettably, a million miles away and so it was only a matter of time before he made a mistake. It wasn’t in the potion though. No, the potion ended up fine but the same could not be said for his hand that was scalded as he’d been ladling the potion into vials. It had not hurt as much as it would have done had he not gained a slight addiction – though the use of it was not frequent enough for him to really refer to it as an addiction, he merely blamed the use of it on old duelling wounds – to pain relieving potions which certainly allowed him to function normally before the second degree of pain the potion did not cover set into his nerves.

At a quarter past one in the afternoon, Alistair D’Eath found himself waiting in the foyer of St. Mungo’s. The woman at the desk, Sadie, had eyed him curiously before telling him to sit down, promising to find him a Healer that could tend to him. Alistair reclined in the seat, his injured hand resting on his thigh. The moments he had to himself were moments that allowed him to eye the waiting room, taking in the people there. Some were healthy, some really, really weren’t. He noticed the overwhelming amount of mothers and irritating little children that were toddling around and their mother’s after them, there to receive their potions for protection against diseases that would have proved fatal without them, and elderly witch who had taken a seat next to him, complaining of arthritis in her joints, had thought to inform him. Alistair bit his lip, nodding a little, unable to quell the niggling in his stomach. They were four years old, at best. The age his child would have been had circumstances not played out the way they had. He could picture Emmaline among the mothers, their child seated on her lap, absorbed in a book coloured far too bright for the time of day. He couldn’t deny the ache in his chest at that thought but did well to push it from his mind. It wouldn’t do him any good to think of her now, or any time for that matter. It was better just to forget.

It was Summer time, a season that Sophia hated more then anything due to the fact they had more patients more then any season. It wasn't that Sophia hated her job, but being here almost twenty four hours was a bit tiring in her opinion. From heat strokes to potion explosions Sophia was just about to her core. You would of thought for it being Summer time people would be out having fun avoiding trouble as much as possible. Apparently not, seeing how there were people who had stroke and fevers from the stifling heat wave that came across the London and the Wizarding world.

Taking a sip of her French Vanilla cappuccino trying to keep herself awake as she headed down the long corridor to the registration area of St. Mungo's Hospital. Looking at the amount of people Sophia sighed and chugged down her French Vanilla cappuccino before throwing it in the trash. "We got a new patient that needs urgent care to his hand."said Saide as the registration desk handing her the patient file. Taking the file read it over before turning to the patients waiting. Sophia froze at the name that was on the file, she had heard about Alistair D’Eath how he spend four years in Azkaban Prison.

Gaining all the strength and bravery she had she looked up from her file once again. "Alistair , Alistair D'Eath."said Sophia calmly and softly acting as a professional. As healer she knew she had to heal people from different alliances. Deep down, Sophia was scared to death but she wasn't about to show it in front of him. "Follow me, we'll get that hand of ours fixed."said Sophia calmly. "The sooner I get him in, the sooner I can get him out of here."Sophia thought to himself. Walking down the corridor Sophia turned into a empty room waiting for him to enter it before shutting the door behind them.

"So... "said Sophia looking at his file once again before looking at him straight in the eyes. "How did this happen, if I may ask?"Sophia asked him as she closed up his file. Sophia figured he gotten into some duel that he ended up hurt. Sophia didn't know, but she had to find out to add this to his file before she could treat him. Although he was a death eater Sophia couldn't turn him down just because of who he was. She was here to help him and heal him and make him better no matter what alliance he was.

There was nothing worse than St. Mungo’s during the summer except perhaps St. Mungo’s on Friday and Saturday night when they had an influx of patients with drink-related problems. But as Alistair surveyed the room in the same contemptuous fashion he always did with regards to such places, he found that there was an unhealthy amount of snivelling children and teenagers, the latter more often in worse shape than their sobbing, younger counterparts. There was one girl, of perhaps no more than sixteen years old, surrounded by gentlemen that were at least a head higher than her but of a similar age. Her hands were tight around their forearms but her body shook like a leaf as quiet sobs left her lips. Alistair’s eyes lifted to the sign above their heads and instinctively, he recoiled: the morgue. He’d been there more times than he could count and it never got easier. Alistair assumed that the blonde beside the girl was her brother as they had strikingly similar profiles. The young man that held on to her as tightly as she did, must have cared for her very much, he observed. They weren’t Purebloods though, he realised. They couldn’t have been. They were Order Wizards – Light Wizards.

Alistair looked up at the sound of his name and his eyes found a young witch with dark tresses sat around her shoulders and a soft smile on her lips; what he noticed more than anything though was the fear behind her mask of resolve. Alistair wiped away the smirk that was threatening to take over his face and rose from his chair to greet the woman who, he gathered from her nametag, was named Sophia. Alistair studied the woman for a moment before deciding that Sophia was probably a good choice for her. It was a strong name but still flowery and feminine. He couldn’t help but wonder then about names, his musings taking him to wonder what on earth was going through his mother’s mind when she picked Alistair. Probably bitterness. Alistair cleared his throat and followed the woman down the corridor into an empty but no less sterile and cold room. Alistair’s lip curled a little at the sight of it and he shuddered, old, healed and scarred wounds on his body starting to smart a little knowing that he was here again. He’d never forget the night they finally caught up with him and hauled him into St. Mungo’s before the Ministry, the way they hurried the terrified young intern as she struggled to get the bandages around him, his blood already having stained the floor.

Alistair was thrust from his reverie when she spoke to him again and he blinked at her, ignoring her words to tell her, “I’m not going to hurt you. I want to be here just as much as you want to treat me and though I am perfectly capable of dealing it myself, I fancied a walk.” Alistair’s eyes were drawn to the left side of the room suddenly before flicking back to her. “But neither of us can win. It’s a potion accident. Can’t you tell?” Alistair sighed. “I’ve already taken a pain potion. I’m in need of a top-up though. So if you don’t mind...”

Sophia eyes glared at him not really knowing if she could trust him or not, she heard things about him. Alistair D'Eath the wizard who spent four years in Azkaban Prision for horrible things. Although he wasn't as worse as Felix Barker, she heard about the things he was capable of doing. Besides, almost all the D'Eath family were death eaters she knew that for a fact. Sophia nevered really got along with death eaters or anything for all it lead to her dueling them. Sophia really hated fighting unless she had to, but if Alistair was looking to cause trouble Sophia wouldn't let him.

Hearing him say he wouldn't hurt her Sophia glared at him as if not believing a word he just told her. Looking away from him she looked down at his arm and seen it was swollen and looked to seem burnt by the potion. "Inflatus!"said Sophia pointing her wand at his arm as the swelling went down in his arm. "vigoratus exuro!"said Sophia once again healing his arm. "Ferula!"said Sophia as a bandage and splint appeared on his arm. "I know you already told me you took a healing potion but I'm going to put a spell on your arm to stop the pain from coming back."said Sophia pointing her wand at her arm once again. "subsisto poena."said Sophia once again. "There you go Alistair, your all done."said Sophia pocketing her wand.

Going over towards the cabinet she got a small blue bottle that was the pain potion and handed it to him. " Take this every two hours or as needed for pain it will help."said Sophia softly. "Come, lets take that walk for you need to come back in two weeks to see how it's doing."said Sophia. "Yes I know that it's healed but we might need to change the bandage on it unless you want to learn to do it yourself."said Sophia. "Although people come back up here cause they don't want to mess with it themselves."said Sophia. "I guess alot of healing spells to remember for them."said Sophia shrugging.

There was something rather magical about the way Healers worked, how they waved their wands and suddenly you were all fixed again. Yet despite the wonder and amazement Alistair was often engulfed with when around Healers, he could not bring himself to feel appreciative of the young woman treating him now. He just wanted to leave. As he watched her though he found that the process was one he could have completed himself – or at least had his younger brother do while he became increasingly addled with whatever potions he’d put in his system. Already he felt a bit dizzy but he was glad of the numbness.

But then, there was something useful, Alistair felt, in having a Healer around and though the Death Eaters never really indulged in them – mostly because they were far too unintelligent to think to heal their broken bones – Alistair found himself wondering whether he could gain his own personal Healer. Now he wasn’t about to pay for it, either. No, Alistair had a much better idea and though he’d come to regret it, it was a good idea at the time.

Slipping his wand from his pocket with his less damaged hand, Alistair flicked it at the witch’s turned back, the spell tumbling from his lips as his magic delved into her mind, creating blocks on free will and free thought in a way that would make it incredibly difficult for her to break from it. And of course, you could guess the spell:

There was something Sophia didn't trust about this Alistair D'Eath person that was sitting in front of her. It was like he was lying to Sophia, which Sophia had no doubt that he was lying. Sophia didn't trust death eaters for one they were liars and two they always had to be bloody cowards and couldn't duel you face to face. Death eaters were just pathetic and dim witted in her opinion. What the hell type of people would shoot a spell at you when your back was turned?

Apparently that what Alistair D'Eath did, the next thing Sophia knew she was hit by the Imperius curse. Although she was under his control she wasn't about to give him cnotrol just yet. "You bloody coward, you couldn't have hit me when I was facing you? You just had to hit me when my back was turned that's pathetic!"said Sophia weakly. She knew he had control of but she had to fight the spell off, but the feeling of feeling so care free was taking over her. "No Sophia, you must fight it don't let him take control of you!"Sophia thought to herself.

The feeling was getting stronger and stronger making it harder for Sophia to control it or fight it. "Oh what the hell just let go, this feeling of feeling care free feels good!"Sophia thought to herself. As the spell took over her she turned to Alistair with a blank look on her face like she was hypnotize. Staring straight ahead she waited patiently like a loyal puppy waiting for it's master to tell her what to do.
