What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. ADDISON RAINE MCKINLEY
______________________________________________________________________________________

------------------------------------------------------------
INTRODUCTION
------------------------------------------------------------

    FULL NAME: Addison Raine McKinley

    NICKNAMES: ---

    AGE: 14

    ALLEGIANCE: Neutral

    HOGWARTS HOUSE: Hufflepuff / Slytherin

    CLASSES:

    • Transfiguration
    • Care of Magical Creatures
    • DADA

WAND TYPE: 9 1/2", Hazel wood; dragon heartstring core; heavy

    PLAY BY: Emma Roberts

------------------------------------------------------------
APPEARANCE
------------------------------------------------------------

    HAIR COLOR: Golden Blond

    EYE COLOR: Light Green

    HEIGHT: 5;6"

BODY TYPE: Slender and tall, but tends to downplay it but hunching.

    GENERAL APPEARANCE:
Ever since she was a child, Addison has been blessed with the ability to make herself appear as normal as possible. At first glance, she is a lanky girl, with even lankier arms. Her hunching doesn't do much for her first impression. But the truth is that Addison's upbringing has accustomed her to blending in and lurking in the background.

In truth, she is fairly attractive. She has golden blond hair that falls down to her shoulder blades in lazy waves. She almost always braids it, though and because of that, the waves have grown more pronounced. Addison has light green, almond shaped eyes and full lips. If there is one thing that she particularly likes about herself, it is her nose. It's not too big, nor is it too small and she rather enjoys its proportionality.

Addison has a healthy complexion, not appearing too pale. She looks healthier in the summers when her skin tans and is slightly tinged with golden. Addison is not entirely fond of make-up but she does take care of her skin, if nothing else. Addison prefers to dress in muggle clothes in her off-time at Hogwarts, generally feeling more comfortable in the attire she usually dons at home. Addison has a slender frame, lanky arms and long legs. Her nails. while rarely clipped, are always clean. Even though it is obvious from a first glance that Addison is not bothered with make-up or even familiar with it, it is just as obvious that she takes care of herself.

Her upbringing has made her nearly neurotic about cleanliness. She is often seen cleaning her nails, to the point where she might even accidentally break them or make her fingers bleed. Her hair is always brushed and braided - she has a nearly overwhelming, and sometimes ridiculous, fear of her hair tangling. She prefers to keep her sleeves rolled back to her elbows so that they don't brush against her wrists and don't interfere with what she is doing.

------------------------------------------------------------
PERSONALITY
------------------------------------------------------------

CHARACTER STRENGTHS AND SKILLS:

  • Organized
Addison grew up in a relatively controlled environment. Because of this, she has been taught to take care of herself and her things. As a result, she is organized and specific about her possessions.

  • Can Handle Pressure
Addison tends to blow little things out of proportion. This, however, has enabled her to efficiently handle situations that she perceives as problematic. Even if she does panic, she turns it inwards and chooses to do something productive with that same tension.

  • Strong
Addison is familiar with taking care of herself. Coupled with the rest of positive traits, this easily translates into a strength that comes naturally to her. She is emotionally and mentally resilient.

  • Responsible
Again, due to her upbringing, Addison has taught herself to be as responsible as possible.

  • Dauntless
Addison is brave, but not in the traditional way. She is brave in the sense that she refuses to let anything get the better of her. She refuses to let anyone get a rise out of her, she clamps down on her fears even if they threaten to virtually paralyze her. She will consider other people's feelings just to distract herself from her own.

  • Considerate
Taking Addison's habits and traits into account, it does not make sense for her to be considerate. She herself thinks that technically she should be selfish and introverted. But, the truth is that Addison can't help but consider other people's feelings. This stems from the fact that her own were largely disregarded when she was a child and she knows how it feels to be ignored.

CHARACTER WEAKNESSES:

  • Neurotic
Addison is neurotic, in the worst sense of the word. Fortunately though, most of it is directed at herself. Because of this, she seems to suffer from spontaneous bouts of distraction as she obsesses over random things related to her person.

  • Naive
Addison was brought up in a nearly unrelenting home. In order to cope, she convinced herself that there had to be someone better than her parents. Addison is not entirely naive but she gives people a little too many chances. She tends not to learn and if someone is nice to her once, she demands that they be nice to her again.

  • Misguided
Addison never really had much guidance during her childhood. Because of this, she perceives things in her own way. She is morally lax and cruel if provoked. The concept of boundaries does not exist for her. If wronged, she goes a little too far in retaliation. Even if she might not do anything physically, she absolutely will not forgive someone.

  • Self-Centered
Addison is concerned with every last thing about her person. Unlike most people though, it is not in the interest of vanity but mostly to quell her own worries. She is focused on herself almost annoyingly and stares at her nails often.

  • Unfamiliar with Boundaries
Addison is naturally confused about boundaries. She will unwittingly scare someone away, simply by being much too mean or much too clingy.

    CHARACTER LIKES:

    • Music
    • Her brother
    • Cats
    • Studying, as if often distracts her from herself
    • Intelligent people who like to show it, even if they do merely amuse her
    • Flying

    CHARACTER DISLIKES:

    • Feeling insignificant
    • Being ignored
    • Alpha males who remind her of her father
    • Any reminder of her family
    • People who pay her too much attention, in which case she thinks she has done something wrong and so will become hostile.
    • Staunch do-gooders

GOALS: A happy ending. The only reason Addison studies is so that she can leave home as soon as she turns 18, and go to live somewhere far away from her family.

QUIRKS: Addison picks her nails very often. She does it almost compulsively if she is agitated.

BOGGART: Addison's greatest fear is that her parents will find out about her intentions and lock her down forever.

PATRONUS: Addison's greatest memory is of the weekend when her parents went to a trip to Paris and left her and her brother alone, for the first time in their lives.

DEMENTOR: Addison's worst memory is of the day when her brother announced that he was leaving for Australia.

VERITASERUM: Addison's greatest secret is that sometimes, she wants to murder her parents when she turns 18 and then leave.

MIRROR OF ERISED: Addison's greatest desire is to be noticed, taken care of and reassured. This translates into the need for a partner, someone to be with her always, to make her feel something other than edgy all the time.

    PERSONALITY:
Everything negative, positive or just random in Addison's personality stems from her childhood. While her controlled environment has confused her about things that other kids simply know, it has also made her resilient and considerate. However, one thing about Addison is that she is conflicted. In the same way that the abused can either become the abuser or heal, Addison has the same choice. A part of struggles to be a better person than her parents and channel the qualities of all the good people that she has ever known or heard of. But the other wants to be just as hurtful as her parents. She has only ever known them and in moments of distractions, she is just like them.

A part of her is impossibly curious about why her parents are like they are and because of this, she sometimes channels their habits and mannerisms just to see what its like.

Often times, Addison becomes angry with herself for wanting to be either of those things. For her, it is easier to dwell in the grey area. She is morally ambiguous as it is easy for her to be swayed. Addison suffers a disconnect from most of the things going on around her and this only makes it easier. She is largely indifferent to things happening on a scale larger than a few people at least and so, will easily believe anything anyone tells her. Addison is somewhat of a ticking time bomb. The events of the past few years have somehow left her feeling insignificant in the face of all the things going on in the Wizarding World. Her innate need for attention is steadily growing and it further blurs her judgement of what is right and what is wrong.

------------------------------------------------------------
CHARACTER HISTORY
------------------------------------------------------------

Early Years: Ever since she was a little girl, Addison has been regarded by both of her parents as a bit of a disappointment. Her childhood, while relatively comfortable, was completely devoid of friends. The only positive influence in her life was that of her older brother Daniel. Addison has depended on him for as long as she can remember, always counting on him to calm their parents whenever they became much too extreme about Addison. Addison was largely ignored as a child. By the time she was seven, she was forced to cook for herself because her mother refused to do it. Her brother did all her laundry, and braided her hair in the mornings. He was the one who took her to the movies and out for a walk. He was the only one who ever helped her with her homework or even bothered to ask how she was. Daniel was the only positive influence in her life and it is a natural impulse for her to trust boys more than she does girls.

Her mother constantly compared her to other people's children. Her father refused to even look at her. Even as a child, Addison was entirely unsure of why her parents despised her so much. So like any child would do, she began to channel the blame inwards, convinced that she had been the one to wrong her parents and that she was being rightfully punished for it. And so, she became nearly obsessed with pleasing her parents. It began with resolutely obeying anything her mother said. Addison cleaned her room, brushed her teeth, ate with her elbows off the table. But this seemed merely to lower her status in her mother's eyes.

She tried to help her father with his work as a businessman but understood nothing. On one such occasion when her need to please was nearly driving her insane, Addison accidentally spilled ink on her father's documents. That was the first time her father hit her. Now even more confused than ever and unable to understand anything that was going on, Addison turned on her parents. She had excelled and she had tried hard but nothing seemed to please them. Addison was around 9 when she first began to mouth off to her parents. She would retort when her mother said anything and kick and scream if her father came anywhere near her. But the constant rebellion made her tired and completely distorted her perception. At the age when most children had already figured out what was wrong and what was right, Addison was still struggling with the very concepts.

She might have improved but when she was 9, her brother announced that he was leaving for Australia to study psychology. The news didn't just upset Addison, it destroyed her. But what was worse was that she couldn't feel anything tangible. The lines between rage and remorse blurred and all Addison could do was try to understand. Before her brother left, though, he apologized to her and promised that one day she would understand why he needed to leave. Addison has understood but it doesn't make his abandonment any better. The things that came after were worse. Her parents blamed her for driving their son away and she couldn't even think about struggling whenever they turned on her. She did the only thing she knew how to do to cope. She matured. She cleaned and cooked and studied and then cleaned again. While a part of her excelled at everything that she needed later in life, her emotional growth was completely stilted.

    Hogwarts Years:
Addison's years at Hogwarts were a shock to her system. She had never been around so many different types of people and everything about them fascinated a part of her. The other part, though yearned for the silence of her own home. Even as everyone around her was familiar with what transpired outside Hogwarts, Addison suffered a major disconnect from everything. Ever since she had been little, she had been virtually locked down in a house. She had only a vague idea of who Voldemort was and and an even vaguer idea of who Harry Potter was. She was little when most of the things happened, but at Hogwarts, everyone seemed to be waiting for something to happen.

While everyone else worried, Addison explored her new found freedom.

Her second and third years were much the same. She was virtually a loner and seeing all the people around her, it was bound to bother her eventually. At Hogwarts, she was continually obsessed with studying people and watching just how different they were from her. At home, she tried to blend into the walls as much as possible. However, people's incessant need to be affiliated with someone has always confused Addison.

At times, it even disgusts her. In her opinion, beliefs corrupt people - no matter how good they are. She knows that everyone has the potential to be just as cruel as her parents, if not more. They only need the right circumstances and mind-frame. It is this view that, to her, presents every do-gooder as extremely hypocritical. Because of this, she refuses to affiliate herself with anyone.

Welcome to PA! What a beautiful app! Thank you so much, I hope you enjoy the site!

I honestly had a lot of trouble decideing on her house. On the surface she is Huffer, but the struggles tell me Slytherin. Then again she does have a muggle father.. and an angry Huffer would be fun. So.... Accepted and sorted into HUFFLEPUFF!

If you have any questions, concerns, etc, feel free to PM me. Have fun!
