Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Tiers Empty Tiers

Hey, All,

All active graduate characters have now been given a Tier ranking for their magical ability (I hope). The thought is to help characters, particularly in conflict situations, to be able to determine who is the more powerful wizard or witch. For example, a tier 5 character dueling a tier 1 has some distinct disadvantages and will have to work harder to prevail. This prevents unrealistic dueling and other unrealistic situations.

It is not meant, in any way, to be punitive to ANY character or player. It is merely a guideline. The tiers were assigned by several thoughts: how long the character has been onsite and how much that character has participated and developed; the skill level to which the character has demonstrated effective use of his magic; and, realistically, the character's age and development. For example, a new grad would not be as powerful as a grad charry who has earned the leadership of a faction, etc. New players or those who rarely participate will be generally lower ranked until they use and develop those characters more.

Here's the system. Tiers are currently ranked as 1-5.

Tier 1--The best of the best. The Legendary Wizards. Example: Lord Voldemort. Very, very few ever make this "legendary" catagory.

Tier 2--Exceptional Wizards. These folk tend to be influencial people of power. Faction leaders, for example. There are precious few of these folks as well.

Tier 3--Above Average Wizards. Characters who have been onsite and have participated, demonstrated effective magical abilities, and have shown to have the ability to interact with a number of other characters effectively.

Tier 4--Average Wizards. This is where most characters will rank. This is the "everyday" witch or wizard and includes most Hogwarts grads unless they have progressed upwards or unless they are new or infrequent characters.

Tier 5--Developing Wizards--This is where most new players or those who are rarely used will fall. As they grow and develop, they may very well progress upwards in the tier system. Most dropouts will also be a tier 5, because of the site's emphasis on the Hogwart's environment, and those characters will find it harder to advance in the tier system. (So stay in school! Hint, Hint!!)

Students--Students do not receive a tier ranking until they graduate. Their class ranking is sufficient.

Admins responsible for Tier Ranking are Jess and Khaat. If we have missed ranking your grad charry, please pm me at once.

Questions? All good? Good!

K.
