What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. NERISSA ANNE HATTS

------------------------------------------------------------
INTRODUCTION
------------------------------------------------------------

    FULL NAME: Nerissa Anne Hatts

    NICKNAMES: N/A

    ALLEGIANCE: Conflicted (neutral)

    HOGWARTS HOUSE: Ravenclaw

AGE & YEAR: Fifteen, 5th year

WAND TYPE: 10 ¼” Mahogany, Leprechaun Hair. The wand is made with a green spiral that has the appearance of a vine. This spiral is made of an actual plant, which is wrapped tightly around the wood of the wand, and has been enchanted to feel as firm as the wood it is pressed against when it is held, but to continue on living as if the plant had never been uprooted. The vine does not grow, but it does occasionally flick one of its leaves upward to brush itself against Nerissa's fingertips when she is holding it, despite the enchantment that its maker casted upon it in order to keep it in place. There is reason to believe that this wand of Nerissa's is partially responsible for her ability to work with just about any living plant she lays eyes upon- though her seemingly endless knowledge of both magical and nonmagical plants was something that was built up over time, and had begun even before Nerissa had learned of the magical blood within her veins.

------------------------------------------------------------
APPEARANCE
------------------------------------------------------------

HAIR COLOR: That wavy, brilliant orange-red hair of Nerissa’s really was her trademark; it was the one thing about the young Ravenclaw that never seamed to change, despite anything that she had been through. She normally had quite a deal of trouble when attempting to tame her wavy locks, however, she avoided chopping off the ends at all costs, for she felt that to do so, she would be destroying the only thing left of her former self. It was her hair that she had gotten from her mother’s side of the family, who were of Irish decent, along with the freckles upon her cheeks.

EYE COLOR: Nerissa's eyes were once a beautiful and vibrant shade of green- however, after experiencing more than her share of traumatic events, that twinkle of happiness that could have always been seen within those green eyes of hers had been lost completely. Her eyes had been a feature she had inherited from her mother, but now that her eyes appeared more gray than green, they had lost what had made them look so much like her mother's. Nerissa often avoided looking in the mirror due to the fact that she feared the dead, emotionless look that was always reflected upon the glass- a result of the fear and pain which she had experienced.

HEIGHT: Overall, Nerissa was the average height for young women her age, but her slender limbs and her gentle facial features often made her appear much smaller than she truly was.

BODY TYPE: Nerissa Hatts, in all honesty, resembled a dormouse. From the beginning of time she had appeared quite small due to the way she was proportioned and the light, paling shade of her skin, but as Nerissa's symptoms of paranoia became more apparent and she turned to antipsychotics in order to find some form of relief, she began to loose weight. The drugs had a definite effect on her appetite, and yet, they did provide a bit of the relief from the symptoms that Nerissa had been so desperately hoping for when she had decided upon taking them. This sudden loss of appetite lead to the loss of weight that Nerissa really couldn't afford to loose, ultimately making her appear even more fragile and small than she ever had before- almost to the point of appearing ill. This weightless was most noticeable in Nerissa's shoulders, upper arms, sides, and her thighs.

GENERAL APPEARANCE: A pare of faded black shorts that were heavily frayed around the bottom edges was one of Nerissa’s most-worn article of clothing, which was often hidden underneath her Hogwarts uniform in a way that would allow her to shrug the gown off of her shoulders, and make a dart at an impeccable speed towards the nearest door; Nerissa was quite fond of spending her spare time outdoors, and it was for that reason exactly that her favorite shorts were in such a sad state. There were times, however, when it was much too cold for that sort of clothing, and it was then when Nerissa resorted to a pair of black leggings to slip underneath her shorts, or, if the weather was far worse, she would drag a pair of jeans out of her drunk. These bottoms were almost always accompanied by her dark colored, button-up Ravenclaw uniform, matching tie or scarf, and her black Hogwarts robes overtop- unless, of course, she was anywhere other than Hogwarts.

    - Nonexistent appetite
    - Her inability to relate to her peers

    - Reacuring headaches due to a near-death insident in the Black Lake
(durring these headaches, Nerissa must face an inability to process words when reading)

    - The smell of blood (which she hallucinates often)
    - Thunderstorms
    - Adrenaline rushes, or spurts of fear
    - Constant reminders of her past- often in the form of questions such as "What was Ne'Os like?" which seems to be a favorite of the more demented teenage school girls.
    - Hogwarts' Great Lake

GOALS: Nerissa Hatts was never really the sort to set goals for herself; she felt that too much could change at any given moment- she could die any day and wouldn’t have been able to achieve the goals that she had made- however, despite this pessimistic outlook on goal-setting, Nerissa had, without intending to, begun to hope that she would one day be able to have a greenhouse of her own, like she had had when she was young.

    QUIRKS:

-If someone were to watch closely enough, they would certainly be able to spot the odd, jittery motions of Nerissa's eyes when she read and fallowed movement with her eyes. This was a result of Nerissa's ability to see any form of movement much faster than any other human would be able to - a skill which she mysteriously gained upon nearly drowning within the Black Lake.

-The level of trust Nerissa felt towards a single person could very depending on the day; her issues with trusting others seemed to fluctuate oddly and inexplicably, almost in the same way others experienced mood swings.

PATRONUS: A sunny afternoon during which she had spent dancing with a young fellow named Andrew Thompson. Past Thread.

DEMENTOR: Both her capture and torture- courtesy of a blackened soul by the name of Ne’Os Emof. Past Thread.

AMORENTIA: The sweet smell of wet dirt after it has rained

PERSONALITY: Nerissa had been a gentle creature; someone who would withhold her opinion if irritated or angered in order to keep the peace- “had” being the key word. All the pain and torment from which Nerissa had suffered had done its job to change the way Nerissa saw the world, and ultimately lead to the destruction of all that had once made her the friendly, warm-hearted little Ravenclaw. She had been hardened in a way that was only noticeable to those who knew how to penetrate the walls she had set up around her- walls which she had built in order to both protect and hide herself from the wicked souls that made up the world in which she lived. Everything had become dark and frightening to the eyes of the young witch; everything was a potential threat that had to be examined and then destroyed. Everything, accept the plants that she constantly surrounded herself with.

It would be wise to assume that she had enchanted its pages to continue on without end.

------------------------------------------------------------
CHARACTER HISTORY
------------------------------------------------------------

    Three - Five Years Old:
Nerissa had a rather rough childhood, what with her father leaving only weeks before the wedding between him and Nerissa’s mother, and then the marriage between Benjamin (her stepfather) and her mother only a year later. She was forced to grow up rather quickly, and began to see the world the way adults saw it; a dangerous place where people got hurt and their hearts were broken. Nerissa still liked to flip through the pages of the storybooks that the children in class talked to each other about, and pretend as if she still believed in pixie dust and prince charming, but the other children at school were not unintelligent, despite their obsessions with fiction; it took no time at all for them to notice that Nerissa was different than they were. Those same children grew a few inches, and they learned how to mock little girls with broken smiles, making it nearly impossibly for Nerissa to gain- or regain- any sort of respect from her peers.

Eventually the child gave up completely on the idea of making friends during her younger years of mashing clay together to form farm animals, and learning how to count out coins until you had enough to buy entire Zoos. These were the earliest signs that the child would have a difficult time relating to her peers, as well as socializing- something which she would have to deal with for the rest of her life if it were not something that she grew out of.

    Six - Ten years old:
As some sort of replacement for the human connections that Nerissa lacked- her parents, though caring, were not qualified to fill the void where friends should have belonged- began spending most of her time in an old, abandoned greenhouse next-door to the house in which she lived. The people who had owned it had been forced to move years before Nerissa’s family had moved in next door, and so Nerissa began to believe that the greenhouse was ‘hers’. She began taking care of the plants regularly, caring for them as most children her age would care for dolls, though there was much more responsibility required when it came to caring for the living creatures that Nerissa spent her time looking after. She didn’t know that the plants living in the old greenhouse were unordinary- that they belonged in a fiction book and not in a greenhouse that had broken glass sprinkled about the floors, and gaping holes in the glass ceiling- all she knew was that she loved them greatly, and that she needed to protect them from the world outside their glass home.

Nerissa's obsession with plant life became apparent to her parents, uncle, and her older sister over the years, despite the fact that she spent little time, to no time at all, near her older sister and her step father, who had both decided to fly the coop before Nerissa was old enough to even have a conversation with either of them that hadn't consisted of a bunch of childish ga ga. It was a well-known fact in the family that Nerissa would not- or, could not- make friends with the children she attended classes with, and so, naturally, Nerissa's increasing interest in plants began to worry her family; they believed she was replacing the friends that she was unable to make with the plants that she had begun spending so much time around. However, both Esmeralda and Benjamin Mansini decided that by taking away the only thing that Nerissa seemed to feel strongly for, that they would be doing more damage than they would be correcting the damage that had already been done.

Over the years, Nerissa extended her knowledge of plants by creating a log in which she would write down the way her plants reacted to certain conditioned, and how each of them had a specific trait that made them different than the rest. This log book was something that she had created out of a notebook which she had been given in one of her English classes in order to write down her thoughts and feelings- instead, she found a better use for it. Rarely did Nerissa go anywhere without the book held firmly under her arm, and it was a possession which she brought with her when she received her acceptance letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the finest school on earth.

BEHIND THE CHARACTER
------------------------------------------------------------

    YOUR NAME: Red

RP EXPERIENCE: I have been role-playing for five years- however, I have only been role-playing in a way I consider to be skillful for two years. I have spent most of my time on Harry Potter RPG sites, but I have also spent a bit of my time on a Pirates of the Caribbean site, as well as quite a few Hospital RPG sites.

HOW YOU FOUND US: A little birdie told me.

CHARACTERS: Damian Skeeter, Vito Dee Symons, Nerissa Hatts & Calvin S. Ransom

    RP SAMPLE:
Flip… tap, tap, tap… flip… tap, tap, tap, Nerissa stared down at the worn pieces of paper, all sewn together, bound by a thin black thread and a leather spine. Words were scattered about the page with rips at its edges, words that Nerissa couldn’t seem to make sense of; her brain seemed to see each individual letter as if it were spaced out miles apart from the next, and she couldn’t seem to glue them all together long enough to read the page and continue on to the next. So she flipped the pages, drumming her fingers rapidly along the splintered surface of the library table she was sitting at, before gazing at the page for a few moments unblinkingly, and then flipping the page once more. It seemed like a useless process, but for some reason, it made her feel as if she was actually getting something done. Flip… tap, tap, tap… flip… tap, tap, tap At least the sound of the turning pages sounded pleasant to here ears. Homework… she had homework to do didn’t she? What was she doing, sitting there reading about whatever she pleased?

Hiding, she decided. She was hiding from the students with their curious ears and their constant streams of questions. Nerissa didn’t like them much, for she found it extremely difficult to relate to them; to understand what it was that made these teenagers act the ways they did- but then again, she herself was a rather strange being, wasn’t she? Wasn’t she the one reading a book, without reading it, in the corner of a library on a sunny day.

Nerissa’s dull eyes flickered in the direction of the window; she hadn’t been paying much attention to the weather, but at the thought of it, if it were actually as sunny as she had assumed, perhaps locking herself in the Greenhouse would be a much better place to hide than the dusty old library. The young redhead sat up a bit straighter in her wooden chair, looking past her reflection on the windowpane to gaze momentarily at the grounds miles below. People were flying about on their broomsticks, tossing quaffles back and forth, laughing… Nerissa propped her chin atop the heel of her palm; suddenly, going outside to listen to the voices and the laughter didn’t sound too bad… perhaps they would leave her alone to lie in the grass and bathe in the last of the day’s sun.

She was tempted, and had almost given in- until she had gazed back down at her book, and she had remembered that she had homework to do, and that teenagers asked questions that Nerissa didn’t like to answer whenever she got too near… She rested her head against the cold tabletop, only just noticing the throbbing pain beneath her skull. The headaches still hadn’t stopped. It had been over a year since the incident when she had nearly drowned in the black lake, and yet, the pain continued.

The young redhead inhaled, raising her head slowly, allowing it to hover a few inches above the table’s surface for a moment, “Now, I cant do homework with a headache,” Nerissa muttered with a scowl on her face, brushing her tousled bangs away from her face, “I wonder if there is a potion for that- there has to be. There is a potion for everything- plants, now plants would help with that…” she spoke to herself, assuming that she was completely alone- other than the librarian, who shushed her whenever her voice became a little too loud. Nerissa closed the book she had already spent an hour ‘reading’ and stood from her chair, beginning her search for a new book, one on potions and herbs for pain.

All I have left to do is the remaining of her history, which consists of her life at the age of 11, and then her life at Hogwarts. After that I'll have finished. I should be able to get it done within the next few days.
