PERSONALITY: Anais is a gentle soul with a brave heart. She is the youngest of five children, and as such, her father doted on her. She was always a quiet child with a "girly girl" personality. She speaks quietly but with authority. She can be strong if she needs to be, but she would rather deal with people with finesse and diplomacy than through brute strength. She does exercise to keep herself in good health, but she does not do it out of enjoyment. She does it out of necessity. She loves any sort of peaceful pursuit, and the students at Beauxbatons have come to know she is a nurturing woman of integrity who, most often, speaks gently even when she is being her most stern or is under the utmost pressure.

OTHER POSSESSIONS: a beautiful golden filigreed antique pendant with various small semi-precious stones worked into the design. The pendant has been worn by all the Beauxbaton's headmistresses for generations, and it holds many powers, headmistress accesses, etc. to various parts of the Beauxbaton's school, its passages and many, many secrets. When she leaves her post, the necklace will go to the next headmistress.

CHARACTER HISTORY

Early Years: Anais was born on a snowy Christmas eve in the chateau of family friends, born a month early, when her family went to spend the holidays in the country with friends. Her father was delighted that his youngest daughter arrived on Christmas eve and has always said she was his greatest Christmas gift. She grew up as a "girly girl" , and her favorite toys were dolls, tea sets, stuffed animals, muggle paper dolls, and a beautiful enormous doll house that her father bought for her and delighted in furnishing for her. Her siblings, by and large, doted on her because she was so much younger than they all were. She grew up surrounded in love and she has almost no negative memories of her childhood. She is sometimes insecure that she won't be able to be as effective as she wants to be with her staff or students when she cannot identify with those staff or students who have come from harsh backgrounds.
Hogwarts Years: Anais went to Beauxbatons, as was family tradition for generations. She made friends very easily because of her happy, outgoing personality. Anais was well known for being always, always happy and optomistic. She had to work hard to get good grades, although she was quite bright. Her best subjects were transfiguration and care of magical creatures. She did enjoy broom flying, although she never had any desire to join the quidditch team or do much with it except to use her broom for transportation. During her summers, she worked for a clothes designer in Paris, modeling designer fashions for his customers. He tried to pursuade her to pursue modeling as a full time career, but it was not something that truly interested her. It was during one of her summers in Paris that she met her husband to be, Emile Rousseau. They dated until her graduation from Beauxbatons.
Adulthood: Anais was married to Emile for two wonderful years. On a holiday in Zurich, Emile was murdered in a dark alley by a mysterious figure in a dark wizard's cloak. She will never forget the man's face because he had a large scar on his cheek and a tatoo of a green cobra on his right hand. Anais heard the crackling sound of a wizard duel and raced to the alley, coming in behind Emile, in time to see the figure strike Emile with a sectumsempra. Anais tried to cast the Vulnera Sanentur spell to heal Emile, but in her panic, she could not cast it properly, and Emile bled to death. Anais blames herself for not being able to save Emile's life, and she knows that his killer saw her as clearly as she saw him. She fears he someday will come to finish the work he started. In her grief, she changed her name back from Rousseau to Benoit. She spent a year living back with her parents. Due to their loving attentions, she managed to pull herself together. She returned to modeling in Paris for a short time, until the offer to teach transfigurations at Beauxbatons came up. She applied and was hired, one of the youngest transfiguration professors the school ever had. She worked her way up through the school's system and 3 years ago was made the Headmistress when the previous Headmistress retired due to ill health.
