The wizarding world believed that the war was finally over with Voldemort's death, that the death eaters could not possibly recover from the catastrophic battle. However, it appears they are still active. Of late, Headmaster Shacklebolt has admitted that several students have disappeared and that the Death Eaters are the culprits.

The Ministry however has taken little action against the Death Eaters of late, although with their lack of auror members, they probably couldn't do much if they tried. However, Jess Potter is preparing the Order for an attack on Malfoy Manor to rescue the students.
