In HP and PA there are 4 houses in Hogwarts. You are sorted into these houses as soon as you enter and CAN NOT change houses, so choose carefully.


Founded by Godric Gryffindor, Gryffindor is one of the four houses in Hogwarts. The most valuable trait considered in Gryffindor is courage, although students in Gryffindors are also noble, chivalrous and daring. The symbol for Gryffindor is a lion, and its colors are Red and Scarlet. Gryffindor corresponds to the element of Fire. Its common room is located in the Gryffindor tower, which is guarded by the fat lady. Many Gryffindors are good hearted and join the Order of Pheonix or Ministry after graduating. Very few Gryffindors have ever joined the Death Eaters. Weaknesses of Gryffindor's include recklessness and 'pointless heroics.'

Gryffindor and Slytherin have a traditional rivalry and its students don't get along well at all. Gryffindor and Hufflepuff get along very well.. Gryffindor's ghost is Nearly Headless Nick.

Notable Gryffindors include: Albus Dumbledore, Sirius Black and Harry Potter



Founded by Helga Hufflepuff, Hufflepuff is one of the four houses at Hogwarts. The most valuable trait considered in Hufflepuff is Loyalty, its students are generally friendly, hard working and patient. Its symbol is a badger, and its colors are yellow and black. Hufflepuff corresponds to the element of Earth. Its common room is near the kitchens, and is the largest common room. Many Hufflepuff's are good hearted and friendly, very few become Death Eaters. They mainly join the ministry. Many regard Hufflepuff's as 'stupid' but this is a rather untrue term. They usually under perform, due to Helga Hufflepuff's tolerance of any student in her house.

Hufflepuff generally get along well with every house, though best with Gryffindor. Their ghost is the fat friar.

Notable Hufflepuffs include: Cedric Diggory, Nymphandora Tonks.




Ravenclaw is one of the four Houses of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, founded by Rowena Ravenclaw. Its students are generally are clever and intelligent. Its house symbol is an eagle, and its colors are blue and bronze. The ravenclaw common room is wide and circular, and is the only common room which doesn't have a password. Ravenclaw corresponds to the element of air. While Ravenclaws are mostly good, they tend to do what seems like the logical thing. They mostly go to the ministry after graduation, though few have been noted to become Death Eaters.

Ravenclaw usually gets along well with all other houses.

Slytherin was founded by Salazar Slytherin. Slytherin values the traits of cunning, resourcefulness, determination, cleverness and ambition, their students also have highly developed senses of self-perservation - meaning they generally do not act if they think its to dangerous, even if it seems selfish. Slytherin's house symbol is a snake and its colors are Green and Silver. Its common room is in the dungeon's and is the hardest to find. Slytherin's are mainly pureblood, though many are half-blood and a few are muggleborns as well. Slytherin has a very bad reputation of its students becoming Death Eaters - nearly all Death Eaters were in Slytherin. Though some turn to the ministry after graduation, no slytherins have ever been in the Order of Pheonix. Weaknesses of Slytherin students are selfishness, greediness and a total disregard for rules.

Slytherin gets along well with Ravenclaw, and well enough with Hufflepuff. It and Gryffindor have a traditional rivalry and don't get along well.
