JUVES, Rhys Lloyd

MAIN
They were the last people you'd expect to be involved in anything strange or mysterious, because they just didn't hold with such nonsense

Character's Legal Name: Rhys Lloyd Juves

   Age: 15

   Hogwarts House: Gryffindor

   Blood Type:  Muggleborn

   Species: Human

   Face claim: Drew Roy

APPEARANCE
...Aunt Petunia often said that Dudley looked like a baby angel - Harry often said that Dudley looked like a pig in a wig

Leather—He wears the fake variety all the time; the ones that go for fifteen pounds on a bad day at the thrift store.  Lloyd hates anyone who’d kill another creature and wear its skin on their back.  Nonetheless, he’s a sucker for anything comfy and easy to move in.  When it comes to everyday looks, his most common is something along the lines of jeans and a T-shirt, with a grey hoodie or maybe one of those cheap jackets.

Robes—Ha.  Ha.  Really.  Lloyd hates robes, and it’s probably the first thing he’d complain about if you asked.  Having grown up wearing muggle clothes for boys, he personally thinks that wizarding robes are a mix between bathrobes and dresses, with plenty of petticoat-like layers to cling to his legs and give him a hard time.  “Magic is fun and all, but can we please not bumble around in these stupid things?  Man, how is a guy supposed to get anyone to take him seriously when he trips over his own hem?”

Formalwear—Oddly enough, it’s not a big deal to stuff himself into a tux or just a nice enough shirt to wear under a sports coat.  Dressing up isn’t exactly his first choice for choosing attire, but things could be much worse.  Of course, that’s only provided that it’s “ordinary” clothes.  Something about being all fancy, in very small doses, just boosts Lloyd’s confidence a bit.  He knows—well, at least he thinks he cleans up pretty good.

Hair—It’s not that messy.  No really, it’s not messy enough for his older sister, who constantly complains about it, to actually take up a pair of shears and have a whack.  Sure, the ruffles and spikes form dramatic canyons.  Sure, a person gets the impression of a giant ball of unattractive dark frizziness.   In the end though, it’s honestly not much different from an average “I-Don’t-Care” guy’s hair.  Putting no effort into it besides a few quick strokes of a comb kind of gets a person to that point real fast.  It’s a sort of murky, not quite solid brown, with a few sections near the base and underside that are dark enough to seem black in some light.

The Basics—As far as build goes, Lloyd doesn’t really get much opportunity to hit the gym here at Hogwarts.  He’s pretty skinny, with a lanky sort of build that makes you wonder if he’s getting enough calories per day.  Someday if he puts on a bit of weight he might fill out to the potential for strength in that lingers in his over 180cm form.  He’s also got pretty good posture, so it’s usually clear that he’s taller than you if that’s true.  Facial features can blend pretty well into the crowd; very dark blue eyes are striking if they’re looked at closely enough to differentiate from brown.  With a straight nose and fair skin and tufts of hair occasionally poking out along his hairline, Lloyd doesn’t get much hate for being ugly.  Of course, part of that’s genetics as pointed out here, but he’s also just had a nice family and friends…

His lips like to quirk up into a sardonic smile, but they’re also apt to form the sweet grin of a boy who’s turning on the charm.  Scanning the faces in a crowd, you’d probably not stop on his—he doesn’t mind meeting boldly, eye to eye, with a stranger, but Lloyd has more important things to do, in his opinion.  His height might make him stand out, but not for too long—his features aren’t striking enough.  But examine him a bit more carefully, and you might see the glint in his dark eyes that warns you to watch your step.  Random gravity checks are fun to watch but even more fun to induce.

Give a general description of your character's appearance. Consider what they look physically look like and what their fashion style is. How would we pick your character out in a crowded room?

PERSONALITY
......If only the hat had mentioned a house for people who felt a bit queasy, that would have been the one for him

As far as pranksters go, Lloyd isn’t the best.  His goal isn’t ever to harm someone, but a bit of fun never hurt anybody amirite?  The biggest problem is that he doesn’t always finish things all the way (including practical jokes, which often leaves a bit of a mess).  He’s always focused on what he wants, but he gets distracted by… other things he wants.  Sounds sketchy, but this is best put into different terms.  For example, let’s say that Lloyd has a nice jacket that he lost.  If he’s heading down to the store to buy a new one and he sees a couple of knives over on a wall that look pretty cool and might be balanced enough for throwing, he’ll get sidetracked and take a look.  The jacket probably is going to get completely forgotten afterwards—but that’s okay.  Lloyd’s number one priority is doing what he wants, to get what he wants.  Fulfilling this mission is what pulls his gut everywhere.  So he’s still pretty honed in on that general desire but it’s easy for him to get caught up in other things that catch his attention.  A compulsive but determined person, let’s say.

This isn’t to say he’s completely apathetic to what other people need.  Lloyd loves just like any other regular dude, and his most important people are probably his siblings and cousins.  His parents weren’t exactly the best kind of people, but I mean hey, it’s not right to speak ill of the dead so the guy’s moved on.  Plus, it makes Lloyd happy to make his sisters and his brothers and his little cute cousins happy, so everyone benefits in the end.  Except, of course, that old man who lives across the road and secretly wants to murder Lloyd because the guy jaywalked across the street once or twice.  It’s a long story.  Somehow, Lloyd usually ends up with these people who are all sticklers for rules.  And by a stickler, I mean they end up being complete sticks in the mud if someone’s driving one and a half miles over the speed limit.

What was that?  Likes and dislikes are a good idea?  Well, fine then.  Animals are pretty high up on Lloyd’s list—they’re cute, and fierce, and purely innocent of all this stupid human corruption and all that jazz that makes a dude so angry if he thinks about it too much (and he still likes the ugly and cowardly ones too).  Humans aren’t bad, but everyone gets sick of company sometimes.  With Lloyd, those sometimes just happens to be a lot of times.  He’s a sucker for shiny things, too.  There’s not really any ethical barriers for him when it comes to swiping things from stores, which is gonna get him in trouble someday but it hasn’t happened yet so don’t jinx it!  But it’s important for him that he doesn’t get caught and doesn’t cause any huge issues for the owners.  That’s why Lloyd isn’t going to steal diamonds or guns.  That **** is too complicated, and people can get hurt.  He can get hurt.

Well that paragraph was longer than the others so now we gotta break it up into another one.  Take a deep breath, because we haven’t even touched on his dislikes, much less finished the likes.  So Lloyd is a petty thief, a bit of a delinquent, and has an inner guy waving a white flag who desperately wants to stay out of trouble.  He’s also got a major sweet tooth, which prompts a lot of the kleptomaniac actions that he has a tendency to take.  But in the end, Lloyd hates killers and killing.  He hates too much politics, and he hates to be poor.  He likes Latin and Spanish and English and all languages besides French and Welsh.  He hates apple pie and cranberries.  He’s an ordinary guy.  And there’s one more thing—he hasn’t thought about it all too much, but if Lloyd had to pick one way to die, he’d… well… He’d pick anything besides drowning, dying to a gun, dying to the avada curse, and dying to poison.  Having a prolonged death is okay.  And I know that wasn’t really a proper answer like I promised.

Now listen up.  Here’s the important things that make Lloyd the guy he is.  First of all, Lloyd will acquiesce to someone’s demands if the situation calls for it—but that doesn’t mean he’ll ever give up on getting his way.  Having people not be mad at you is usually quite advantageous, after all.  Never forget, however, what you were arguing about with him, because Lloyd won’t forget it either.  He has a mind like a steel trap and an elephant combined—actually, that doesn’t sound like a good combination, but you get the gist.  Of course, his excellent recollection of events only applies for just that: events.  Memories and things that Lloyd has some kind of stake in.  It doesn’t apply for the location of objects, or most of the curriculum Lloyd has learned in his life.  He wishes he had a photographic memory, but that’s most definitely not the case.   Also unfortunately, Lloyd is not really the best at remembering what promises he has made to normal people.  This doesn’t apply to his close family, and friends, but it does mean that all the classmates he borrows five pounds from are never gonna get paid back.

Oh yeah, and he’s got a deep voice.  A very deep voice.  But not the deepest you’ve ever heard.  It’s only striking if he’s smiling at you under his words.  It’s going in personality because you can’t see a person’s voice so RIP appearance section.

Tell us about your character's overall personality.  How do they act on a usual day? Remember, no personality quiz results, and no copy & pasting; it must be in your own words.

HISTORY
..................Hey! My eyes aren't 'glistening with the ghosts of my past'!

   Early Years:

Lloyd grew up in Swansea with his four sisters and two brothers.  He wasn’t exactly blessed growing up, because his parents were average people with a very much average income that could barely support seven kids.  This was especially because he was the second youngest.  It’s probably assumed that he got mostly hand-me-downs as a kid, which wasn’t really a biggie for him.  His older brother had boring but satisfactory taste; it’s not like he would have picked out any more interesting of clothes to wear.  After all, Lloyd wears jackets and T-shirts and jeans, and that’s about as specific as you can get aside from delving into exceptions and special occasions.   His parents were very… far away, even when they were hugging him and loving him.  It was like they were constantly busy, working and going to his siblings’ events, and had barely any time for Lloyd.  This wasn’t huge issue for him because he’s innovative enough to have fun on his own and find new friends.  It became even less so as he grew older.

   Hogwarts Years:

You might not need a year by year summary, but you’re getting about 100 words for each anyways.  His life might be boring, but it wouldn’t hurt to finalize this boringness.  And P.S. of course all the teachers don't like him.  But most of them have no bad blood with Lloyd, if they're people who don't hate a kid for no obvious reason.

When Lloyd was eleven and got his Hogwarts level, it was a bit of a shock.  Sure he was a charming, disarming little boy whose basic focus in life was to get what he wanted—but this?  To be a wizard was beyond his wildest dreams.  In first year, nothing really fancy happened, except the fact that Lloyd was extraordinarily engrossed in learning all that he possibly could.  It sounds weird for someone who usually didn’t bother with much schoolwork, but cmon; this is magic we’re talking about.  Unfortunately, this good-boy thing wasn’t bound to last for too long.  Sitting in class and taking notes gets awfully boring after a while.

So second year rolls around and the professors from first year are fond enough of Lloyd that he can get away with small things now; and that’s enough for him to be prompted into completely disobeying the rules unless it suits him to stay within them.  Call him a brown noser, suck up, and teacher’s pet; you should really know better, because Lloyd is brutally honest to everyone, and that includes his teachers.  He just has a way of pointing out their good traits when they’re around.  And learning is fun sometimes, so go shoo away and take your D with you.  Needless to say, second year wasn’t quite as boring as first, but his grades were still far higher than the majority of the class.

Now here comes third year, and boy that was an unimpressive one.  Instead of pulling the nice kid tricks all over again, Lloyd decided that he wanted to mess around a bit too much and consequently, he ruined his reputation with a lot of the teachers.  This wasn't exactly a result of Blood's attack, but it was part of it.  If you have a possibility of dying tomorrow, you have to live vivaciously today, after all, and Lloyd was awoken to this fact more strongly than he had been aware of before.  His smile might be fairly disarming, but it isn’t that successful at getting him out of every spot of trouble.  At the same time that Lloyd wasn’t pulling off school quite so easily, he was having some issues at home.  His parents had passed on after they were both caught in a muggle car accident, along with two of his older sisters, the twins.  The group had been going on a road trip to look at colleges.  The end result was a very unfocused Lloyd and dropping grades, since at this point it was no longer a priority.

Fourth year happens and over the summer, Lloyd managed to pull off growing pretty tall, ayyy good for him.  The rest of the changes to his body, like his voice, were a bit weird at first, but that’s life for you.  His life actually seems to be stabilizing now, despite how weird it is to be adjusting to his new height and all.  He’s still a loner, but there are plenty of people in Hogwarts who know of him or have talked to him in passing.  It’s not that Lloyd isn’t social, but he’s definitely not a socialite.  Thankfully, his grades have copied his emotions and with the ridding of a bunch of teenage angst, his marks have evened out.  They’re nowhere near as high as they were second year, but they’re still pretty dang good.  As for all of that Ilvermony stuff?  Pfft.  It was another big spectacle to ignore and pretend like it never happened.
