What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

Family of sorts Empty Family of sorts

Post by Beatris Greyback Sat Jan 07, 2017 10:20 pm

It would be one big lie if Beatris Greyback says this is the spontaneous decision.
You know, to say that she just woke up this morning and decided that she wants to be a werewolf. Not to tell that she is one of the rare people who actually wants something like that.
So, she was now walking through the forest looking for her father.
And, why she was doing that? It's obvious; she wants to be like him, the werewolf, and to join his pack.
It was like dreams become true for her, because, in her minds, Fenrir Greyback should be the role model for all kids in their world.

"Fenrir? Are you here?" she yelled knowing if her father is there, he will hear her, even if he isn't too close to her.
She pulled out her wand just for protection if other werewolves try to attack her during their animal instinct. She wanted to be like them, not to die before she even gets a chance to ask her father for that big favor.

Who was bellowing for him now? He bristled, irritated. He was not a dog to be summoned. He was one of the most powerful beings in England. He headed one of the largest groups of werewolves in the country. Mass murderer James Blood was at his beck and call. Who was it that dared to simply shout for him?

He turned and looked through some of the thick undergrowth of the forest and saw Beatris. Oh. Her. It scarely mattered to him that she was one of his many offspring. If there was one thing Fenrir didn't have much of, it was heart. He had lived a long time and had been successful at it because he had not used human thought and characteristics anymore than he could help it.

Even at this advanced age, he was still imposing and he still was worth being frightened of, but Beatris had always been a little blind where that was concerned. He walked forward, at his own pacing.

"Do stop shouting," he said dryly. "I'm not deaf. Lower your wand. You scarely need it. Now, what brings you out here looking for me?"

She saw her father after just a few minutes and pursed her lips like the immature child.
"What, there is no hug for your beloved daughter?" she said sarcastically assuming that is the scenario that wouldn't happen ever, even in the alternative universe it is just silly to even think her father has the love for his children.

"I don't know if you are deaf or not, because... you know, you are really old" she looked at him playfully. Beatris was sure that there are no much people who would dare to speak with him like this but she wasn't afraid. To be honest, she was sometimes annoying as hell so she assumed that he would already hurt her if he wanted to. And she is that kind of person who will always try to move the boundaries and see how exactly her father is patient. That was the dangerous game, but what is life without some risks?

"It's nice to see you as well. Even if I would like to say I just missed you, that isn't the case this time. I actually wanted to ask you for a favor." she looked at him for a second just to be sure he was still listening to her.
"I want to be a werewolf and to join the pack," she said directly because her father seems to be someone who doesn't like when people waste his time.

Her sarcasm amused him. That was more genetic than she knew. The Greybacks that did take the chance to get to know him were all proficient at sarcasm, like their father. And then she said it--she wanted to be a werewolf. He paused a moment, and then he perched himself on a large tree stump and laughed.

"Well, now, there's a new one. I don't usually get anyone who says that they want to be a werewolf. You do realize that's not exactly something most people are proud of, right? It's not something the oh-so-mighty Ministry endorses. Just out of my own curiosity, what makes you think you want to be a werewolf? What's in it for you?"

He wasn't sure if she knew truly what she was asking. For Fenrir to turn her, she would have to face him at night, during the full moon, when the curse had fully turned him, when he had the least ability to control himself. He couldn't promise he would only wound her. Actually, though, he did have a few younger werewolves where biting and wounding was about all they could do. That might be safer for her. Perhaps. He still wanted to hear more first, though.

"Oh, you are laughing? I didn't know you can do that. It's so odd to see you like that" she shook her head, and for her own surprise, she wasn't offended at all.
She knew something like this would happen. Actually, she would probably be disappointed if he was serious.

"Don't try to be the good father with all of those speeches about how bad that can be. I want that. It's not something that just came into my mind during the boring night." she looked at him icily before continuing.
"I want that. I don't belong there with all that people. I often feel like if I am the machine, doing what others say is correctly even if all I want is freedom. And I don't care if you understand me or think if that was the right choice. I want that" she said seriously.

"And I always get what I want. The only reason why I came to you is that your pack is probably the biggest one here, so I'm smart enough to ask you to turn me and let me join your pack rather than go to someone else with smaller and less powerful pack" she said honestly looking at him all the time.

"And before you say anything about that, I know there is the chance that you will kill me during the process. I'm ready to take the risk. I can defense myself, at least you know that." she shrugged.

Well, that much made sense. It wasn't unusual for misfits to want to opt out of humanity. The human race could be cold to its own. Fenrir understood that very well. It was something that Voldemort had understood, and it was one of the reasons that Fenrir had found him a decent alternative to assimilating into societal norms.

"Alright. Fine," he said. "I have nothing against you advancing your form from a mere human to a more advanced werewolf. It's a sensible decision. It just isn't something that I'm approached with every day. It will have to be done at the full moon, obviously. And, we'll need to meet in as remote a location as we can find. I do not need the Ministry on my tail of something goes wrong. The risk is entirely yours."

"Oh, daddy you are the best," she said trying to sound like the happy spoiled brat just for the sake of annoying him.
"Just send me an owl with location and I will come. It was nice to see you, as always" she sent him a kiss and then apparated from the forest without saying anything else.

_________________________________________________________________

Like she was assuming, her father sent her and owl and now, on the night when the full moon will appear in the sky, she apparated herself deep into the forest and then walked to the spot in nowhere where she is supposed to meet her father.
She knows it would be natural to feel fear or to ask herself if this was the good decision, but she could feel nothing but excitement.

She wore her old tracksuit. Even if she is supposed to become a werewolf tonight, there is no reason to let her father destroy her good clothes.
Beatris came on the place and sat on the ground waiting for her father to come.

He still appreciated the hunt, doing the things that werewolves did. He hadn't promised her that he wouldn't kill her. He couldn't promise that. He hadn't actually hunted for awhile. He usually let the younger wolves do that. They needed the training. He didn't.

He didn't live in the forest. He wasn't sure why this was such a comfortable place for her, but since this was usually where she wanted to meet, he had chosen the forest for this, but at the far end, away from everyone and everything. Few humans ever came to this part of it. It was exceptionally dark and exceptionally dangerous here. That was what made it safer for him. If anyone were stupid enough to come here, then they deserved to be eaten.

He had avoided looking at the full moon, but he could feel its pull. He couldn't avoid it much longer. There just wasn't much choice in it. He saw her in the distance. It was good she was on time. He had never wanted to try to develop any control against the change, and didn't know if he wanted to have any. Turned, he felt he was in his true form. His human form was aging. His animal form was still comparatively sleeker and more agile and faster. He glanced up at his old friend, the moon, that shimmered like a pearl in the darkness, and he felt his form shifting. It was always so painful to have bone, tendons, and skin changing shape. He heard the sound of the beast in his own ears. It still resonated with power, and it was a sound that he loved.

His nostils picked up the scent of human female. It didn't recognize her as anything else but human. It was irresistible. The beast took control and set down on all fours and raced towards her, claws and teeth at the ready, looking for flesh and bone and blood.

She wasn't sure how long she was sitting there before she heard something. The only thing she knows was: it seemed like forever. First, she heard something like approaching and she assumed that is him.
This seemed like the place where no one sane would come; so deep in the dark forest, where even the silence can be really loud.

So, when she heard something, beast, sound of that echoed for a long time.
She looked at the direction of the sound or at least tried to since her human's eyes weren't customized to see in darkness like this.
The only light came from the sky and full moon, so beautiful but dangerous when you know this is the day in a month when a lot of people, human beings, will become beasts.

Beatris stood up, carrying her wand in her hand knowing she will need that.
Her father didn't promise her that he will not kill her. She wasn't sure he will be able to promise that even if he wanted, beast in him will probably see her as catch, fresh meat and blood almost begging to be killed.
She saw her father approaching her and for the first time since she decided she wants this, she wondered if she will be alive long enough to see the morning light.

The beast approached her and without thinking bit her leg. She didn't know if it was instinct to kill or something else, but she felt incredible pain, the worst that ever before in her life.
"Stop! You did it, just stop now!" she screamed in agony but it seems that the beast doesn't think about letting her go.
Even if she wanted just to cry, and then die, she knew she needs to find a way to escape. To go to a safe place far away from her father.

"Alarte Ascendare!" she said pointing her wand at that thing in front of her. It was probably the worst spell she could think about. She would be lucky if spell work at all, but she needed to try.

The beast knew nothing but hunting, wanting, conquering. It had caught its prey and had every intent now of conquering. The spell fired at it threw the beast up into the air, and the beast howled, filled with surprise and even more rage.

The beast's motivations shifted. This was now no longer just about hunting. This was now about defense. The beast had a well experienced record of defending itself, and it was usually pretty one sided. Generally, in its true form, the beast itself was deadly. Tonight, the prey had fought back and had surprised the beast. Now, the beast intended to fight back hard. In the time it took for the beast to be lauched into the air and to come back down, the animal that had been perpetually attacked by the shimmering full moon was now going to strike out at tonight's prey, and it was going to kill. If the woman did not save her own life and escape now, it was highly unlikely she ever would.
