Welcome to Potter's Army

We have been a Harry Potter Roleplaying site since 2007. If you're an old member we hope you come check out the discord link provided below. And if you're looking for a new roleplaying site, well, we're a little inactive. But every once and a while nostalgia sets in and a few of our alumni members will revisit the old stomping grounds and post together. Remember to stay safe out there. And please feel free to drop a line whenever!

What’s Happening?
Since every few months or so a few of our old members get the inspiration to revisit their old stomping grounds we have decided to keep PA open as a place to revisit old threads and start new ones devoid of any serious overarching plot or setting. Take this time to start any of those really weird threads you never got to make with old friends and make them now! Just remember to come say hello in the chatbox below or in the discord. Links have been provided in the "Comings and Goings" forum as well as the welcome widget above.

------------------------------------------------------------
INTRODUCTION
------------------------------------------------------------

NICKNAMES/ALIAS:  Goose. He’s almost exclusively called Goose. A tutor coined the nickname from the slight German accent he puts on his own name.

AGE: August 30 2008.

ALLEGIANCE: The Dyllan-Morrisons? He understands that Jack was a big part of Potter’s Army but he’s not sure he sees the benefits of the group. Of any group, really.

HOGWARTS HOUSE: SORT ME.

WAND: He currently does not own a wand, as he has just begun the work to heal his magical system. Also, he’s a baby.

PLAY BY: Colin Ford

------------------------------------------------------------
APPEARANCE
------------------------------------------------------------

GENERAL APPEARANCE: Goose still has that stocky nature attributed to boys his age, but Jack suspects he’s about to get tall and gangly with as much as he’s been eating. He has brown hair that he likes to keep a little longish, as he likes the way it looks when it sticks out at all ends. His eyes are brown with flakes of green and he typically has a bit of a squint. He's a jeans and sneakers kind of guy, preferring wearing a jacket to running around in short sleeves. His sense of style really hasn't developed yet. When he's sick, you can tell. He's pale enough for it to make a difference, and his lips begin to lose their color.

PERSONALITY
------------------------------------------------------------

TRAITS:
Ambitious
Curious
Dry sense of humor
Intelligent
Knowledge-hungry

GOAL:  He wants to act normally at Hogwarts. He has the brains and would probably be a fantastic wizard if he didn’t have this disease that severely handicapped his abilities. Getting into Hogwarts at all is a stretch. He’s really worried that, once he gets there, he is going to fail everything.

AESTHETIC: shades of green and gloomy locations

------------------------------------------------------------

CHARACTER HISTORY
------------------------------------------------------------

EARLY YEARS: Affairs happen when people aren’t given a choice in who they marry. Neither Vladimir Krum nor Greta Krum were particularly satisfied with their spouses, but more than pleased with the fortunes and privileges that came with going along with the system. How Greta came to be pregnant is a difficult question, as both blame the other. Greta’s plan was to raise the child as her own with no one the wiser. When a check-up revealed dangerously low level of magic, however, she knew there was no way to pass this off. It was a blood issue, they said, which means the truth would quickly follow as to the child’s true parentage. Too late to terminate, she relocated to London and hid there for awhile, claiming to be on an extended holiday visiting relatives.

For a woman who had never done a difficult thing in her life, it is almost admirable how hard she worked to keep the deception of, the crux of which was her choice to deliver her baby in a muggle hospital, where the medicine was certainly not strong enough. It was brutal labor and mother and baby were admitted, as the latter was not doing so well. Greta signed the birth certificate with Augustine Baxter but asked to hold off on the surname until she could sort out an issue with the father. The nurses rushed into the room at three in the morning when the machines flat-lined – mother had somehow left the hospital.

The question of what to do with Augustine Baxter No-Last-Name had to wait until they figured out what was wrong with him. The hospital board called upon their donors to help support the child as doctor’s began their investigation. A weak immune system, somehow toxic blood, it looked like Haemophilia but there were too many factors to nail it down – besides, treatment wasn’t working. Days turned to weeks turned to months…

Goose first remembered understanding his situation at the age of four. The social worker explained that when he was well, really well, he would join a boy’s home. Finding foster care for a sick child was nearly impossible and at least this way he would get to interact with other children. She didn’t seem to grasp the fact that he had a comfortable social position among the terminal children, as they were all stuck in the same situation. Regardless, every few months he had enough good consecutive days to be sent to a home with seven other boys, all rowdy behind closed doors and cold in front of their guardian.

A charity league of teacher’s had been visiting this hospital for years, offering free tutoring to kids who otherwise could not pursue an education. It was here that Goose found his greatest escape from needles and pills. One teacher in particular, Mr Buckley, fostered a deep love of reading in Goose. While he attempted abridged versions of Shakespeare and Johnson to the other students, he felt free to read the passages as they were, as Goose loved the sound and rhythm of the words. Late start considered, Goose’s comprehension skills soared, and under the tutelage of Mr Buckley, he became a fantastic student.

There were always flowers in his room. He wasn’t sure where they came from, but there they were. They invariably died after a few days, and it was Mr Buckley’s idea to bring in a small cacti. Weeks passed and the cacti didn’t die. Goose began to take keen care of it, and soon his other tutors and favorite nurses brought desert plants instead. Dropper in hand, Goose took meticulous care of those plants, just as he does today.

At seven, Goose had a hard conversation. Mr Buckley had to leave, had a sick mother, had to go tend to her in Wales. Goose was brave, and told him he understood. But, for awhile after that, it was hard for him to trust an adult to stick around.

When he was eight years old, a redheaded woman came to visit him. She claimed her business in this hospital had to do with someone else, and indeed she had been getting stitches for an injury that she didn’t necessarily want to go on record at Mungo’s. It was her red-headed niece that convinced her to return to visit the boy after a chance encounter and soon Jack was making regular trips to the hospital on off days. Jack made no promises and yet Goose could count on her to arrive. He hated to recognize that he was beginning to trust her.

When the nurses’ explained that his condition was worsening Jack did not even talk to her then-husband Maximus Morrison before quickly jumping through the hoops to adopt, stopping only to sit Goose down and ask what he wanted. He was terrified of what would happen when it inevitably proved to be too much for Jack, but he also knew the signs of the hospital beginning to give up, and they had started to crop up in his room. He agreed and was whisked into a strange new world of potions and magic. Jack’s suspicions were right, that there was magic in him and his disease magical, and he was soon given a plethora of potions to help him cope with his condition.

Since then, life hasn’t been easier. He’s had days where he could not get out of bed, days where he missed the children from the hospital that he knew would not be there if he went to visit, missed Mr Buckley, resented the parents who gave him up. But now he has Jack, and her horribly strong black tea and her rough sense of humor that always provokes a smile. He has Sunny and her awful flowers, and her irritating obsession with ostriches, and her continual insistence of adventures. He had Max, and his quiet nature and shared love of books. He has Charlie, and her tutelage as a herbologist, her stories as a traveler. He has Viviana, the nanny of sorts, and her quick mind that he aspires to her, her deft hand with potions from which he learns.

Goose has a lot of things, and now only one more could make all the suffering worth it. He needs to get into Hogwarts. And, according to Robert Lupin, it might just be done.
