CHARACTER HISTORY
------------------------------------------------------------
[this is kind of an experimental way of doing a history that I feel better portrays exactly how Jo discovered who she was and kind of gives perspective to what having amnesia must feel like. Feel free to tell me to add something I miss.]

The air was cool. A long, deep breath in and a longer, deeper breath out. She felt as though this was the first time in a long time that she had felt so relaxed, so at ease. The brightness of the room started to become apparent through her eyelids as she grew more awake, little by little. Her limbs felt heavy, but she was aware of their presence soon enough. Gravity became apparent in her mind as consciousness entered her thoughts, which way was up which way was down - the usual self-confirmation that she was waking up. Her back was against something warm and soft, around most of her body was the same feeling, warmth and softness. Her ears picked up the quiet hum of the room before picking up a soft, consistent beep. Somewhere far off her ears heard footsteps. These footsteps weren't near and weren't headed her direction, but the sound of shoes rhythmically meeting the linoleum triggered within her the opposite feeling of relaxation.

Her eyes snapped open as she inhaled sharply.White ceiling. The beeping grew faster and as she actively took that rhythmic change into her brain it was almost as if the sound grew in intensity. It matched the beating of her heart in her chest. She felt herself shiver at she quietly took in her surroundings. White walls, white bed, medical equipment, and the like. Her brain told her hospital and her gut told her danger. Danger. The word flooded every thought. Hands shaking, she  pushed the covers off and detached herself from everything that was on her. Her eyes flitted around nervously and she stood on the floor, testing her legs. There was a feeling that she may have at one point been unsure of if she could walk. "If I could escape," she corrected her thoughts. The confusion was imminent. Escape? Life wasn't always about escape, but she felt as if her life had been for quite some time.

She went with her gut.

Quietly, she stood and approached the one door out. Her back against the wall to the right of the door, she looked straight ahead out the window. Blue sky dotted with clouds and buildings. The confusion rattled her brain and she closed her eyes against the view of the window opposite her position. She listened intently. No footsteps. Opening her eyes slowly, she peeked around the door frame, thankful she didn't have to worry about keeping the door itself quiet for it was already propped open. No person in sight. A small relief entered her mind, but then the word "danger" flooded her again. She shook as she took her first steps out of the room.

She looked at each side before deciding to head to the right. Before long she found herself lightly jogging on the balls of her feet, which were bare and felt the coldness of the floor with each quiet step. Her mind raced as she took a right at the end of the walkway. Somewhere behind her she heard a door click open and her heart seemed to start a race with her feet as she sprinted full-speed down the hallway in her hospital robe.

"Miss? Miss! Miss! Leo, call security! We have a wild one!"

She barely caught the end of the woman's phrase as she made a hard left. Her breaths felt shallow and she could feel the hot tears in her eyes as she ran. Where was she running? How would she know where to leave?

The left was a mistake. She bolted through some doors into a room full of people. They looked at her wild face as she looked at all of her their confused faces. As someone in a singularly colored uniform uttered, "Ma'am?" she quickly turned back the way she came. She sprinted once more. Fear was overcoming her and she desperately wished for home. But where was home? Her brain felt pain and she recognized it as a headache. As she was about to pass the hall she came down, two men in security uniforms came into her path. They looked surprised to have found her so quickly, but her surprise was extreme panic. She couldn't turn around again and go to the room full of others. She heard footsteps approaching from where she just came from anyway. The guards went to hold up their hands and something snapped inside of her. Muscle memory, if you will.

She lunged forward and took the arm of the one closest, quickly twisting him one way before forcefully shoving him into the wall. As she turned immediately to the other, he had a gun up at her and the fear turned into desperation. All her muscle memory kicked in at that moment. In a flurry of knocking his hand out, going under, grabbing, and pushing, she held the gun in her own hand. Immediately she made the decision to use the handle to catch the surprised guard right in the temple and he crumpled to the ground. She stared at his body, breathing hard. She looked at the gun in her hand and watched her hand begin to shake. She gasped and dropped the gun to the floor where it cluttered and she sprinted. Why was she so confused? What was wrong with her? She couldn't figure a single thing out!

As she turned down another hallway, aware of footsteps and shouting behind her somewhere, she met the surprised face of a man. She stopped and they stared at each other a brief moment. She saw his expression change from shock to something softer, but she couldn't think on that. She gave a loud shout as she ran toward him, every intention of getting him out of her way in her mind. His face turned back to shock and he reacted quickly. He said something she couldn't grasp while moving his arm quickly and all of a sudden she was flying back a couple feet, stunned, before hitting the ground.

She woke again in the same way. All of her mind came to at once, and she remembered being stunned - but by what? Her arms went to move and she tried to jerk upward, but her limbs were held down and her breath was coming quickly and she yelped as she struggled to get out. She kept breathing heavily, but instead of trying to force herself out of her straps in the bed, she looked wildly around and took in the same surroundings, except one difference. Her eyes locked onto a man to her left, the same side of the room as the window with the unknown buildings and sky behind it.

He stared back at her with hazel eyes and messy, unkempt brown hair. His face that the scruffiness of a beard's beginning and his expression was unreadable to her. He was sitting back, one arm across his chest and the other bent at the elbow with fingers near his mouth as though he'd been biting his nails. His legs were crossed. He was in regular street clothes, something that she figured she must not have seen in a long time. But she was too worked up to think about how much she wanted to wear jeans again.

"Where am I?!" she screamed at him, eyes glossing over with tears that came from all of her emotions. He looked pained. She yelled again, "Who are you?! Why won't you let me leave!?!"

He got up as she kept spatting questions at him and came close. Her head looked away from him and her body tried desperately to kick and tug its way out of the straps that held her down. She squeezed her eyes as she yelled and turned her face away, an immediate reaction to the assumption that he would hit her.

Instead, his strong hands firmly gripped her shoulders and held her torso down as best he could. "Jo. Jo! Josephine!" he yelled back at her until finally she was quiet minus the heavy breathing and the crying that had begun.

She slowly looked at him, fear still turning around in her stomach. Her eyes were as sad as his in that moment for she saw that he was crying, too. "Jo, I'm so sorry..." his tears came quickly down his face and he switched his grip to where he was hold her up against his chest, hugging her and saying over and over again, "I'm sorry, Jo, I'm so sorry."

She was in shock. She felt the warmth of his body and the urgency with which he hugged her, as if he'd been hugging her all of her life. Her eyes started to make tears just as quickly as his did and she found herself sobbing in his arms while he sobbed into her shoulder. The confusion took over the pain of fear and anger and panic. She was safe, she realized. But there was so much that she didn't know. "Who are you? Where am I? Who am I? I don't understand, I don't understand," she muttered over and over again while they cried together in the white hospital room with the white windows and the open door and the window that showed them the bright blue sky and the city below.

Wolf,

We normally allow 2 weeks for an app to be completed.  I can extend this by a couple of days, but please let us know how we can help so we can get your character up and running! Otherwise, I'll soon have to put her in storage until you're ready to work on her again.

K.
