 | Subject: Rules of Potter's Army Mon Dec 01, 2008 6:39 pm | |
| Firstly, welcome to Potters Army! We are a Harry Potter roleplaying community set many years after The Deathly Hallows. Before you register, please read the rules below. Breaking these rules will result to a warning, suspension or permanent ban. REGISTERING
- First and foremost, make sure you have thoroughly read the plot before registering and roleplaying.
- Please note that Potter's Army is a PG rated website, though threads can be PG13 if marked. (Though please note, our host, forumotion, only allows people over thirteen to register.)
- Please register with the full name of your Roleplaying character, and NOT a screen name (eg: Harry Potter instead of harrypotterrox43, harry_potter, hpotter or anything similar). If you already have registered with a screen name, go to your profile and change your characters name. Use proper capitalisation please. JUST A NOTE: It is helpful, although not manditory, if you use just the first and last name of your character in your user name--or more specifically, the name your character will go by most often. Not initials, not nicknames in quotation marks, or any of that stuff. It just is a help to us.
- You are allowed to register as a canon character, but please first refer to the canon character forum beforehand and claim your canon. You can't make up your own canon character. Either pick a canon from the list or make an original with an original surname. Your original character cannot be related to any canon in any way.
- Currently, we are in need of student characters. Therefore, each person must have an active student account before creating a graduate!
- If you decide to create another character, please state that in the 'multiple accounts' thread. When creating multiple accounts please consider balancing your accounts, gender-wise and age-wise. If we find that you are not able to manage your accounts efficiently, then we will send a warning.
- If you haven't posted your application within a month after your Registration then your account will be deleted without warning.
POSTING
- You must create a character application and have it accepted before roleplaying. Without making one your not allowed to roleplay and any of your posts in roleplay sections will be deleted.
- PA is an all level roleplaying site, which means we don't pay too much attention to word limits. But being a beginner in roleplaying is no excuse for low quality posts. Anyone can manage a post with correct punctuation and spelling. and constant spelling errors and incorrect punctuation will result in you being suspended. If your having trouble with this, check the roleplaying guide or contact an admin.
- Do not change the default size of your post or default colour when roleplaying. You can use bold, italics, underlining, even striking if you want to make thoughts/speech/etc. stand out, or colour, provided it's readable (no bright yellow on a light skin, etc.). In Out of Character you can use colours and styles (bold, etc.) within reason, but still don't make the entire post a different font size (though making a title bigger would be fine).
- We welcome people who don't speak English as their first language. Please tell the admins if you have trouble with English before role-playing.
- Don't have too many members per thread. There isn't an exact limit, but it will be obvious if there are too many people. Remember, your character doesn't need to be involved in everything that is going on. Mass threads - such as dances, battles, meetings, etc. - are an exception to this rule.
- We absolutely do not allow graphic descriptions of sex and, especially, violence on PA.
- Make sure to avoid severe real life issues (such as abuse, severe addiction or depression, suicidal thoughts, etc.) in your posts. Such issues need to be treated sensitively and might upset other members.
- Remember to keep roleplay drama in character. If someone hurts your character through whatever form in roleplay, remember it is their character and not that person. Make your own character deal with it and don't take the drama out of character.
- If you want your character to become pregnant, please clear it with an admin first. If your character has children without admin approval, you will be suspended. We do this to avoid unrealistic situations. Twins, triplets and under-age pregnancies are usually not allowed. Also, if your character gets pregnant, you must wait 9 months after admin approval.
- Do not god mode other members at all in roleplay. This means you cannot control what any player looks like, thinks, does, sees or says. If they are away for some reason/you have their permission it is allowed, but only to move on threads.
- Do not meta-game. This means giving knowledge that you know as a person (maybe from reading other threads or talking to other members or plotting or whatever) to your character. Your character doesn't know everything you know.
- Please be realistic with your roleplaying. You must realize the limits of your character just like they are a real person. They can not be invincible or without any flaws. Make sure he/she has strengths and weaknesses, and that these strengths and weaknesses are present in your roleplaying.
OUT OF CHARACTER
- Respect all the members. Never swear out of character, argue, or fight with them. Respect peoples religion and ethnicity. We're all here to have fun!
- Do not ask people to join your site by PM, in your signature or in the chatbox please (this includes the area you can put a link to a picture or your email address). You can advertise your website in the Advertising section but nowhere else. If anyone PMs you an advertisement, please forward it to the admins. If you advertise in your signature it will be removed and you will receive a PM from an admin asking you not to do it again.
- We prefer that your signatures are not larger than 550x400 in total. We aren't going to go around measuring, but as long as it's not obviously larger, it's fine. If it is, we will PM you and ask you to change it, then if you don't the image will be removed/made smaller and/or your text (size) will be removed/made smaller.
- Avatars cannot exceed 150x200. If it does, we will PM you and/or it will be removed or made smaller.
- Please do not spam. This means doubleposting, posting off topic, posting too much in the games section and posting lots of out of character posts in roleplay areas.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- The punishments depend on which rule you break. Some are relatively minor (like the signature and avatar rules) and the admin will just Private Message you to tell you to change it. Others, such as; advertising, graphic descriptions of violence in your roleplays, or being constantly rude to members, will be punished with a 7-14 day suspension. If you break it again, you will be permanently banned from the site.
- These rules are subject to change, but there will be an announcement in the Announcements forum if there are any major changes.
