PostSubject: Rules of Potter's Army   Mon Dec 01, 2008 6:39 pm

Firstly, welcome to Potters Army! We are a Harry Potter roleplaying community set many years after The Deathly Hallows. Before you register, please read the rules below. Breaking these rules will result to a warning, suspension or permanent ban.

REGISTERING

  • First and foremost, make sure you have thoroughly read the plot before registering and roleplaying.

  • Please note that Potter's Army is a PG rated website, though threads can be PG13 if marked. (Though please note, our host, forumotion, only allows people over thirteen to register.)

  • Please register with the full name of your Roleplaying character, and NOT a screen name (eg: Harry Potter instead of harrypotterrox43, harry_potter, hpotter or anything similar). If you already have registered with a screen name, go to your profile and change your characters name. Use proper capitalisation please.

  • You are allowed to register as a canon character, but please first refer to the canon character forum beforehand and claim your canon. You can't make up your own canon character. Either pick a canon from the list or make an original with an original surname.

  • If you decide to create another character, please state that in the 'multiple accounts' thread. You can have as many accounts as you keep active, although when creating multiple accounts please consider balancing your accounts, gender-wise and age-wise.

  • If you haven't posted your application within two weeks after your Registration then your account will be deleted without warning.

ROLEPLAYING

  • You must create a character application and have it accepted before roleplaying. Without making one your not allowed to roleplay.

  • Every one of your Roleplaying posts must be in third person and past tense (eg. He walked into the common room.' instead of 'I walk into the common room.'). If you find it difficult for whatever reason, don't worry, just do your best and everyone will be understanding and will help you.

  • PA is welcome to people of all abilities, but please do not post "one liners". A one liner is something around 10words. Please try to make post that are around 30 words or more. But try your best anyway

  • Do not change the default size of your post or default colour when roleplaying. You can use bold, italics, underlining, even striking if you want to make thoughts/speech/etc. stand out, or colour, provided it's readable (no bright yellow on a light skin, etc.). In Out of Character you can use colours and styles (bold, etc.) within reason, but still don't make the entire post a different font size (though making a title bigger would be fine).

  • We welcome people who don't speak English as their first language. Please tell the admins (and preferably people who your roleplay with) just so we know not to be as strict with grammar, spelling and such.

  • Don't have too many members per thread. There isn't an exact limit, but it will be obvious if there are too many people. Remember, your character doesn't need to be involved in everything that is going on. Mass threads - such as dances, battles, meetings, etc. - are an exception to this rule.

  • Swearing is allowed in roleplay, but only to an extent. If the other member feels offended, please stop. Keep in mind this is a PG-rated site.

  • Remember to keep roleplay drama in character. If someone hurts your character through whatever form in roleplay, remember it is their character and not that person. Make your own character deal with it and don't take the drama out of character.

  • If you want your character (female only!) to become pregnant, please clear it with an admin first. This is just so we don't have a million pregnant women at once. Note, any under-age pregnancies are not allowed. In the Wizarding World, you become of age at seventeen.

  • Do not god mod other members at all in roleplay. This means you cannot control what any player looks like, thinks, does, sees or says. If they are away for some reason/you have their permission it is allowed, but only to move on threads.

  • Do not meta game. This means giving knowledge that you know as a person (maybe from reading other threads or talking to other members or plotting or whatever) to your character. Your character doesn't know everything you know.

  • Please be realistic with your roleplaying. Any witch or wizard cannot make a whole house explode. Or dodge every single spell as if they are invincible. Also, no person is perfect, so dont make your characters totally flawless. Make sure he/she has strengths and weaknesses.

OUT OF CHARACTER

  • Respect all the members. Never swear out of character, argue, or fight with them. We're all here to have fun!

  • Do not ask people to join your site by PM, in your signature or in the chatbox please (this includes the area you can put a link to a picture or your email address). You can advertise your website in the Advertising section but nowhere else. If anyone PMs you an advertisement, please forward it to the admins. If you advertise in your signature it will be removed and you will receive a PM from an admin asking you not to do it again.

  • We prefer that your signatures are not larger than 550x400 in total. We aren't going to go around measuring, but as long as it's not obviously larger, it's fine. If it is, we will PM you and ask you to change it, then if you don't the image will be removed/made smaller and/or your text (size) will be removed/made smaller.

  • Avatars cannot exceed 150x200. If it does, we will PM you and/or it will be removed or made smaller.

  • Please do not spam. This means doubleposting, posting off topic, posting too much in the games section and posting lots of out of character things in roleplay areas.

  • These rules are subject to change, but there will be an announcement in the Announcements forum if any major changes (small changes won't be).
